No Need To Burn Bridges

This is true of things and people.

Sometimes you have to re-evaluate your relationships with friends and family.

No need to burn bridges.

During the changing seasons of life, people either stay the same (positive- true blue, solid gold or negative- stagnant, neutral, same ole thing), grow in spiritual maturity and productivity, stumble and fall down, or turn their backs completely on you and others.

Know what season they are in.

Unlike today’s erratic weather extremes, a person doesn’t just enter skipping into spring with their morning coffee and then skydiving head first into an emotional hot mess by lunch.

You are not Dr. Frazier Crane, any of Oprah’s couch counselors, and certainly not God.

Be a friend. Be a good friend.

Don’t get caught up with pausing your life, dealing with the constant drama of others.

Learn the difference between friends, associates, and prayer list only people.

No need to burn bridges.

Why did I repeat that sentence?

I wanted to reread this in front of a mirror.

I would really hate for somebody else to check me. What about you?

Jesus (and Peter) walk on the water.

“So Peter stepped out onto the water and began to walk toward Jesus. But when he realized how high the waves were, he became frightened and started to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he cried out. Jesus immediately stretched out His hand and lifted Him up and said, “What little faith you have! Why would you let doubt win?” Matthew 14:29-‬31 (TPT)

Jesus often went away alone to pray with God. This time, He sends the disciples away to a boat to go to the other side of the Sea of Galilee (Matt 14:22), but the boat gets into trouble because of the wind and is battered by the waves (v 24). Jesus appears, calmly walking on the waves (as you do)! I think anyone might have screamed, “A ghost!” But where Jesus is, we can always be brave. Peter says, “Lord, if it’s really you, then have me join you on the water!” “Come and join me,” Jesus says. So Peter STEPS OUT ONTO THE WATER AND WALKS TOWARDS JESUS. (Again, as you do!) And then worldly reality sets in, Peter takes His eyes off Jesus,realizes He's OUT ON A LAKE and is terrified! “Save me, Lord!” he cries. Jesus comes to the rescue, in His own special way, takes Peter's hand lifts him up and says, “What little faith you have! Why would you let doubt win?” I’m sure Jesus smiled lovingly at him, because Peter did an amazing thing, but he just couldn’t let go of the world and believe that all things are possible with Jesus - even after the miracles he had seen. And then Jesus brings the beautiful calm that is part of Him to instantly still the storm. 

Jesus has the power to still any storm we will ever go through. In the high times, when you're full of the joy of your faith, you'll want to join Jesus and do miraculous things through Him, like Peter did, walking on water! Then something (most probably the enemy), will remind you, “Hey, you're doing something impossible, what are you thinking? YOU CAN'T DO THIS!” And faith crashes down as the stormy waters of doubt and worldly pressures distract you. And you take your eyes off Jesus and start to sink. So what do you do?

You fix your eyes on Your Savior's face and cry “Jesus, save me!” and Jesus stretches out His hand, smiles lovingly at you and says, “What little faith you have! Why would you let doubt win?”And then He saves you and calms the storms in your life. As simple as that. Friend, if you are sinking, from doubts or just from the storms of LIFE, may the Lord reach for you and help you back to His place of calm and peace. May He help you to never let doubt. May you do many amazing things, through Him and in His name, Amen.

Perfect Weather

On a day like today I stand impotent before the glory of God,

the cerulean brilliance of the sky like a glass ball displaying

some still life portrait of perfection, a finely wrought stage set

upon which we flit and strut in our pedestrian tussles without

thought for what lies beyond. But I cannot rest languorously

or repose in myopic glee, because for every day of exquisite

weather we have, someone else is paying for it—those towns

down on the gulf coast swamped in seawater, a platoon of five

named storms marching across the sea from Africa with tidal

vengeance, the south drowning in stalled rainclouds for weeks

on end with mercy strapped to the hood of a sinking sedan in

the middle of highway littered with abandoned vehicles like

some dystopian set piece—so soak up the faultless sunshine,

breathe the crisping air, open your windows to gentle breezes

while you can; this snow-globe is a closed system, unshaken.

for there is no such thing as perfection, only disaster delayed.
