AO3 has been scraped, once again.
As of the time of this post, AO3 has been scraped by yet another shady individual looking to make a quick buck off the backs of hardworking hobby writers. This Reddit post here has all the details and the most current information. In short, if your fic URL ends in a number between 1 and 63,200,000 (inclusive), AND is not archive locked, your fic has been scraped and added to this database.
I have been trying to hold off on archive locking my fics for as long as possible, and I've managed to get by unscathed up to now. Unfortunately, my luck has run out and I am archive locking all of my current and future stories. I'm sorry to my lovelies who read and comment without an account; I love you all. But I have to do what is best for me and my work. Thank you for your understanding.

Writing Tip: Don’t Be Afraid of Mixing Dialogue and Action
So I’ve been reading a lot of amateur writing lately, and I’ve noticed what seems to be a common problem: dialogue.
Tell me if this looks familiar. You start writing a conversation, only to look down and realize it reads like:
“I’m talking now,” he said.
“Yes, I noticed,” she said.
“I have nothing much to add to this conversation,” the third person said.
And it grates on your ears. So much ‘said.’ It looks awful! It sounds repetitive. So, naturally, you try to shake it up a bit:
“Is this any better?” He inquired.
“I’m not sure,” she mused.
“I definitely think so!” that other guy roared.
This is not an improvement. This is worse.
Now your dialogue is just as disjointed as it was before, but you have the added problem of a bunch of distracting dialogue verbs that can have an unintentionally comedic effect.
So here’s how you avoid it: You mix up the dialogue with description.
“Isn’t this better?” He asked, leaning forward in his seat. “Don’t you feel like we’re more grounded in reality?”
She nodded, looking down at her freshly manicured nails. “I don’t feel like a talking head anymore.”
“Right!” That annoying third guy added. “And now you can get some characterization crammed into the dialogue!”
The rules of dialogue punctuation are as follows:
Each speaker gets his/her own paragraph - when the speaker changes, you start a new paragraph.
Within the speaker’s own paragraph, you can include action, interior thoughts, description, etc.
You can interrupt dialogue in the middle to put in a “said” tag, and then write more dialogue from that same speaker.
You can put the “said” tag at the beginning or end of the sentence.
Once you’ve established which characters are talking, you don’t need a “said” tag every time they speak.
Some more examples:
“If you’re writing an incomplete thought,” he said, “you put a comma, then the quote mark, then the dialogue tag.”
“If the sentence ends, you put in a period.” She pointed at the previous sentence. “See? Complete sentences.”
“You can also replace the dialogue tag with action.” Extra guy yawned. “When you do, you use a period instead of a comma.”
So what do you do with this newfound power? I’m glad you asked.
You can provide description of the character and their surroundings in order to orient them in time and space while talking.
You can reveal characterization through body language and other nonverbal cues that will add more dimension to your dialogue.
You can add interior thoughts for your POV character between lines of dialogue - especially helpful when they’re not saying quite what they mean.
You can control pacing. Lines of dialogue interrupted by descriptions convey a slower-paced conversation. Lines delivered with just a “said” tag, or with no dialogue tag at all, convey a more rapid-fire conversation.
For example:
“We’ve been talking about dialogue for a while,” he said, shifting in his seat as though uncomfortable with sitting still.
“We sure have,” she agreed. She rose from her chair, stretching. “Shall we go, then?”
“I think we should.”
“Great. Let’s get out of here.”
By controlling the pacing, you can establish mood and help guide your reader along to understanding what it is that you’re doing.
I hope this helps you write better dialogue! If you have questions, don’t hesitate to drop me an ask :)

It's really eye-opening how, in the later years, the style changed a lot within a decade. We're missing so much of our fashion history, lost to time.

One of the best writing advice I have gotten in all the months I have been writing is "if you can't go anywhere from a sentence, the problem isn't in you, it's in the last sentence." and I'm mad because it works so well and barely anyone talks about it. If you're stuck at a line, go back. Backspace those last two lines and write it from another angle or take it to some other route. You're stuck because you thought up to that exact sentence and nothing after that. Well, delete that sentence, make your brain think because the dead end is gone. It has worked wonders for me for so long it's unreal

Reading Little Women is great and Louisa May Alcott is a phenomenal writer…
But my god, if she were alive today she would run AO3 like the Navy. 400k word count Marauders fan fiction. My Hero Academia one shots. Nandermo slowburn. Stede x Ed enemies to lovers. Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons ship edits.
Fandoms would fall to their knees and pray, hoping she would grace them with her fictions.

I am unwilling to ever share my main ao3 but @argentior 's my anon one which has the perplexing combination of a That's not my neighbor fic series and a Redo of Healer rewrite in it. I uh. Don't feel confident sharing x reader stuff on my main ao3. Or just. The Redo of Healer brainworm that got in my head and that would not give me peace. I also think it has been shadowbanned since creation idk why. I also have an anon poppy playtime fic and sinoalice fic but I don't link those to that blog.
I'll have to check those out!
And, fair! I always felt uninterested in fanfiction with a reader-insert, and uncomfortable with character x reader ones (that might just be me- I still am, deep down, and I think that might just be the part of me that's always weirded out/uncaring of romance and... other stuff), and then I read Bamsara's Solar Lunacy fic. It's got me inspired, kinda, to make a fic exploring queerness and the multiple colors of friendship and that just because the people you were born with didn't hit you doesn't make them good. In a reader-insert & DCA fic medium. Dear god
And I'm sorry abt the shadow ban! It always sucks to see that :( hope you get around it soon!

since dashboard unfucker is no longer being supported and it's starting to deteriorate (at least for me), I figured I'd schedule this for all the others out there who can't navigate tumblr the way it currently is
How can we get back old dashboard? Is there an option? :(
Yes, there are actually two options that I know of!
Just an fyi, I'll be linking things in Chrome (because that's the browser I use) but these can also be found in Firefox and probably other browsers as well. Just search for them.
Option #1: Tampermonkey + Dashboard Unfucker
Install Tampermonkey (an extension that allows you to make script changes to websites) and then go to the Github page for Dashboard Unfucker. Follow the directions outlined (it literally just seems to be "click this" though lol).
Option #2: Install Stylus
This is the option I went with because I didn't see the (seemingly more popular) Dashboard Unfucker option first, but it works very well! Install Stylus, an extension that lets you use custom themes and scripts for websites. Then install this custom theme of the old Tumblr dashboard. Here's a link to blog of the creator of the theme and their notes on the release btw! They're constantly updating it and making it better. I personally haven't really encountered any notable issues.

Cool to know i'm not the only one who made a separate blog for my anonymous ao3 stuff haha
Ha! Yea, lol. I don't know how separate I'll be able to keep it- considering that there's people who know, and in public places- but I'd like to try.
Quick inquiry, though: what's you ao3?

Chapter 3 of LWJAR is here!! I finished it last night, and then I had to go to an American football game. :p Hey- I got free food out of it!
Next chapter is in the works, and then I think I might start writing the By Any Other Name AU.
