noooooooooooooo... I guess I have to weigh the agony of waiting another year(s) vs. the agony of a cliffhanger. thanks for letting me know.
So, because I'm never satisfied unless I'm reading at least 6 books, my current reading list is:
1. The House in the Cerulean Sea: TJ Klune is a gift to all readers, esp gay ones. I can't wait for his YA debut. (this one isn't YA)
2. Tell the Wolves I'm Home: I literally just started it but it seems good so far. Sad though, as should be expected when it's a story about families and AIDS. (This one isn't YA either)
3. The Binding: I actually just finished this. It was so good and I really liked it. It left me wanting more of their story... (I'm pretty sure this isn't YA either)
4. Chainbreaker: A reread because I reread Timekeeper recently. Danny and Colton are always a balm to my tired, angry heart. Also Daphne is goals.
5. The Gravity of Us: Seems really sweet so far.
6. The Song of Achilles: One of my all time favorites. It's a unique experience because whether you've read this particular book before or not, you KNOW how it's going to end and you KNOW you're going to be gutted but you keep reading anyway.
7. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: Three reasons for this one: 1. I started a HP reread last year and never finished it. 2. I'm really trying to internalize what Daniel Radcliffe said about not letting JKR's actions and words taint our experience with the story. I keep in mind that it was written by a bigot while reading but it is a good story, was a significant part of my childhood, and I still love it, despite myself. And 3. I recently fell into the Drarry fic hole. 馃槀 And I realized that I don't remember a lot of stuff from canon. Who am I if I cant quote large passages of Harry Potter on command?
8. The Son of Neptune: To remind myself of our King of Representation and Diversity, Uncle Rick, I started a Heroes of Olympus reread. The Lost Hero was my least favorite though, so I may or may not have just skipped that one... Also, besides Percy and Annabeth, because including them just isn't fair, Hazel is my favorite of the Seven. (or Five I guess since we're not including Percabeth.)
I also need advice. How cliffhanger-y is the end of Wayward Son? I really want to read it but I was hoping to wait for AWTWB to come out before reading it so that I wouldn't have to wait. But I thought AWTWB would be out this year and I don't think I have the patience to wait another year to read Wayward Son. I need a Simon and Baz and Penny and Agatha fix! And I really want to meet Shepard! (I did a bad job staying away from spoilers.) So... any recommendations?

currently reading:
1. The Electric Heir (so good, dark though. and very relevant in these times)
2. The Watchmaker of Filigree Street (stumbled across this one on Goodreads, not sure how I feel about it so far)
3. The Abyss Surrounds Us (I just started it but I'm excited)
4. House of Dragons (kinda like a Six of Crows, Throne of Glass mashup with 20x the dragons. So, epic so far)
rereading:
1. Timekeeper (love the romance and the steampunk)
2. The Penderwicks in Spring (I always go back to the Penderwicks when I need a cozy, familiar pick-me-up. Just as good and classic as always)
3. Red, White, and Royal Blue (a feel good but also a little depressing because, like, why can't Ellen Claremont be the US President rn?)

In the middle of reading "There Will Come a Darkness". Getting heavy "Six of Crows" vibes.

Recent reread: Six of Crows. I love the characterization in this book. My goal is to someday be able to write characterization and switched point of views a quarter of as well as Leigh Bardugo does. Also the heist. All the details are so exact. I wonder how long it took her to plan it.

Books read in 2020:
1. The Queen of Nothing (so good, P.S. Jude is a boss)
2. Strange the Dreamer (reread, writing is just as beautiful as the first time I read it.)
3. The Starless Sea (reread, one of the best settings I've ever read.)
more to come, if I don't drown in studenting.
