Semester I Review (Topics 1-4 + 11.1)

I was able to exempt this class' final exam according to my school's policy, but was still required by my teacher to complete the review in despite the exemption. It was still good to go over all the material we've covered so far, and to see how IB exams will be as all our review questions came from previous IB Paper I released exams from 2016, 2017, and 2018.

100 Days of Productivity
Today (Monday, December 2nd, 2019), I am beginning the 100 Days of Productivity challenge. Things that I will count as "productive" in terms of my studies include...
📚 Organizing/rewriting/condensing notes
📚 Studying for upcoming quizzes/exams + creating review packets for tested material
📚 Self-studying for AP exams coming up in May
📚 Completing homework + getting ahead on it
📚 Conducting research into colleges/universities + careers
I hope to be able to complete at least 2 hours worth of these activities daily, although realistically I know some days I will only be able to devote one hour and on other days I won't be able to devote any time. I will do my best to complete a minimum of one hour of activities for 100 days (until Wednesday March 11th, 2020 if done consecutively). Since it will probably be a habit by then, I hope I continue to do these activities daily until the end of high school and hopefully into college. Wish me luck, it's going to be draining and difficult at times.

Color Code
I follow a color code to keep all my notes and spirals/binders organized by subject. I tend to use one highlighter as an accent color in my notes that correlates with what subject they are in, and this color is the same as the subject's spiral or binder. The code is...
❤ RED = History of the Americas
💛 YELLOW = Chemistry
💚 GREEN = U.S. Government & Politics, Macroeconomics
💙 BLUE = Math Analysis & Approaches
💜 PURPLE = Spanish Language B
💖 PINK = English Language A
🖤 BLACK = Visual Arts
Just thought I'd put this reference out there for anyone wondering about my organization system!

About Me
I usually like to know at least a little about the people I'm following, so I thought I'd write an introductory post for those of you who are like me. I don't know how often I'll be able to share personal things like this considering my main focus for this blog is studying, so I thought I'd give it a start here.
📚 I go by Lavender online and have for quite a while. It is my favorite color and a name I really love, so it came to mind when I had to begin selecting usernames and pseudonyms to use online. Maybe I'll name my future daughter Lavender?
📚 I hope to become an art teacher at the high school level, and I plan to attend Boston University to major in Art Education.
📚 I originally wanted to become a psychiatrist in order to help those who have issues like depression and anxiety that I have dealt with my entire life, but decided I didn't want to pursue a career in the medical field due to the many years of higher education and training required before you can begin your practice. I have always found teachers to be extremely influential in my life, and I figure I'll still be able to make a difference in my students' lives. I hope to be a teacher that students feel comfortable talking to about both academic and personal problems, and that my classroom will always be a safe space for them.
📚 My favorite subject is art and my least favorite is English, although I do well in all classes.
📚 In my spare time, I like to draw, crochet, sew, cross-stitch, study languages, and do puzzles.
📚 My favorite genre of music is indie rock, and my least favorite is electronic.
📚 I am half white and half Hispanic. My dad's family has strong German and Irish heritage while my mom's family has strong Mexican and Native American heritage. I have the dark hair and eyes of my mom, but have the lighter skin of my dad.
📚 I speak fluent English and pretty good Spanish and American Sign Language. I have an elementary-level comprehension in German, but am nowhere near being fluent.
📚 I am absolutely in love with Studio Ghibli films like My Neighbor Totoro, Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, Ponyo, and many more. I own entirely too much merchandise from these films, especially Totoro.
📚 I am a Ravenclaw, and have loved Harry Potter since I was little like many people. I watch the marathons on TV with my family every holiday, despite owning all the films on DVD and being able to watch them any time and without interruptions. We all laugh at that fact every time, but never change.
📚 I am an INTJ, the third rarest personality type of the Myers-Briggs system, and the rarest amongst women. I guess I'm a pretty special lady.
Thank you so much for the read if you made it all the way through! If not, no worries, I won't take offense if you just want to look at the studyblr content and not my personal life. I'll catch you on the next update.

Beginning an IB Studyblr
Hello, I'm starting a studyblr to hopefully encourage me to take more time with my studies because junior year is pretty hectic so far.
The classes I'm taking this year (2019-2020) are...
📚 SL/HL Y1 Chemistry
📚 SL/HL Y1 English Language A
📚 SL/HL Y1 History of the Americas
📚 Intro to Theory of Knowledge
📚 AP Macroeconomics
📚 SL/HL Y1 Math Analysis & Approaches
📚 SL/HL Y1 Spanish Language B
📚 AP U.S. Government & Politics
📚 SL/HL Y1 Visual Arts
(My particular school requires us to take AP Government & Politics and AP Macroeconomics, which are taken for one semester each. You can take them during the summer at our local community college to get the credit, but I refrained from that because it affects your college GPA.)
The AP tests I am taking this year are...
📚❗ AP Art History
📚❗ AP Chemistry
📚❗ AP English Language and Composition
📚 AP Macroeconomics
📚 AP U.S. Government & Politics
📚❗ AP U.S. History
(❗= challenged exam. "Challenging" an exam means that you are not enrolled in the correlating AP course, but are taking the exam anyway. I chose to take these in order to hopefully get the AP Scholar recognition and earn college credit at certain institutions.)
The classes I plan to take next year (2020-2021) are...
📚 HL Y2 Chemistry
📚 HL Y2 English Language A
📚 HL Y2 History of the Americas
📚 SL Y2 Math Analysis & Approaches
📚 SL Y2 Spanish Language B
📚 Theory of Knowledge
📚 HL Y2 Visual Arts
(My particular school requires English, History, and Visual Arts to be taken as HL classes and does not offer SL classes for them. It is only required that I take 3 HL classes.)
I hope that this studyblr encourages me to become more active in my studies by giving me a sort of accountability. Thanks for coming along this journey with me, and let's hope it lasts until that precious IB Diploma is in my hands.
