We commissioned several up and coming and established poets to write new works on their experiences of Passing Clouds.
Poets include:
Shay D, a born and raised Londoner, is arguably known for being a Iranian woman in Hip Hop. Touching on Grime & Spoken word too, she considers herself an artist, designing her own merchandise and curating her own live events. Shay D is independently about to release her second album, toured Europe & the UK, all without label backing or funding, with the support of her fans. Known for her positive & passionate content, empowering women through her music, and fierce delivery of her bars, Shay D is championing the role of a strong woman in Hip Hop.
Belinda Zhawi is a Zimbabwean born writer & educator currently based in London. Belinda was the 2016/17 Institute of Contemporary Arts Associate Poet & she’s co-founder & host of, poetry social & press, BORN::FREE. Belinda is the author of Small Inheritances (ignitionpress, 2018)
Dizreali, Poet, producer, MC and multi-instrumentalist, Dizraeli pushes the boundaries of hiphop, drawing on grime, jazz, garage and West African percussion to craft a genre all his own. His writing and performances are by turns funny and moving, and always full of fire. He’s supported Saul Williams and Mos Def on their UK tours, worked with Kate Tempest and Scroobius Pip and had his music played on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Radio 2, Radio 3 and 6Music. In 2018 he’s back with The Unmaster: his first self-produced album and a collection of songs unlike anything you’ve heard before.
MC Angel:  MC Angel is a talented wordsmith performing as a spoken word artist and hip hop emcee as well as writing page poetry. She has been filmed by Red Bull TV, BBC3and Channel 4 for the “Women in Hip Hop” project. She’s also appeared on BBC 1xtra Live Lounge as part of their spoken word season and has performed up and down the country at festivals.MC Angel has just had her Memoir published with OWN IT! Which is available in all good book stores nationally.
Devon born London based poet Antonia King has featured at events such as ‘Poetry and Shaah’, 'Heaux Noire’ 'RAP Party’, and is a recent Hammer and Tongue finalist. She currently hosts Boomerang Club in Hammersmith and when she isn’t 'poet-ing’ she is tackling her Masters, researching the role of Black Women in Civil Rights Organisations.
