the war moved on, past the turn of the century.  with both sides taking heavy damage, both the noah clan and the black order retreated into the shadows.  and so the world moved on, with time slowly disbelieving more that there was a hidden war going on in front of everybody’s faces.

the year is 2016.  and the events leading up to this point seem to parallel a past nobdy seems quite willing to remember.  with the noah clan and the black order ready to fight face-to-face once more, who will live?  who will die?  and who will tell the story?

nea campbell messed up life.  or well, that’s putting it mildly–afraid of dying, and unsure that, without some way to anchor his half of the millennium earl’s soul, nea would return to being one with the earl, nea tied part of his soul off to cross marian, without thought or care of the side effects.  while he managed in part to ruin part of noah’s ark again, it came as no surprise that allen walker succeeded in removing the fourteenth noah from the world.

time three.  the year is 1941, and nea awakens around cross marian.  nea has a month (having awoken to a person privately known as alain dubois) in that form.  barely long enough to form any plans, and ne does his former host’s job as a soldier in war-torn europe–and the grenade he catches explodes, leaving cross marian alone once more.

now, nea wakes up in 2016, in a beaten hotel that charges by the hour as formerly linnea karzai, a half afghani, half swedish female student who was looking to make ends meet.  that was two weeks ago.

less than thrilled about his body, nea is trying to desperately locate any allies, and is hoping that “linnea’s” sudden disappearance doesn’t attract him the wrong attention.

History

The early turn of the Nineteenth into Twentieth Century spelt chaos for both the Noah Clan and the Black Order.  Both sides sustained heavy losses--the Noah Clan losing approximately a third to half of their ‘family’, the lost control and destruction of most of the Akuma, and the Renegade Fourteenth Noah destroying the Ark the Black Order had control over, and critically damaging the Ark the Noah Clan held onto.

The Black Order, already minute, sustained a higher death toll.  With the Science Divisions all but eradicated, the Finders dropped down to twenty altogether, with only knowledge that the Heart still existed, for the remaining Exorcists (Lenalee Lee, Timothy Hearst, Kanda Yuu, Noise Marie, and Froi Tiedoll) still carried their Innocence.

The Noah Clan retreated, as a way to bide their time and regrow in strength.  However, with Road not taking any recent incarnations, still heavily injured from her fight against Apocryphos, and the Noah Clan only maintain three or four Noah at any one given time, this early 2010s is the strongest they have been for nearly a hundred years.

Rumours of the Heart have propped up twice in history--and while one was of an Innocence that took the shape of a human, who killed an Exorcist, and the six inhabitants of a small farm in Baravia that what would be later known as the Hinterkaifeck murders on March 31, 1922--no evidence brings the Order much closer to finding the Heart.

The events surrounding the last time the Noah CLan rose to prominence are lost to the Black Order; the Noah nearly eradicating them caused much knowledge to be lost.  And as there is no recordings of what happened, or why, Central began the Second Exorcist project once more, hoping to find some sort of edge against the Noah Clan.  Rumours, from those who have worked alongside the project, that Central wishes to create a human-akuma hybrid are whispered, but nobody dares to dwell on it.  Surely, they wouldn’t...  Right?

The Order doesn’t know how they defeated the Noah lst.  The know the Noah had something called an Ark, but what it did, or what the Exorcist, Allen W----- had to do with any of it...  While the Black Order knows about the Noah Clan, the information of it has been lost, including knowledge of the renegade Fourteenth Noah.

General Cross Marian has appeared throughout history as well.  Having been unwillingly given immortality by Nea Campbell placing part of his soul in Cross, Cross Marian has been working on goals the Black Order is unaware of.  The Order is currently demanding their General to return to them, to help them fight the war.  There has been no response.

The Millennium Earl has repressed all memory of being Mana Campbell.  As far as he is concerned, as as far as the Noah Clan agree, Mana Campbell was a human who stole one of the members of the Noah Clan from him.  Nobody wants to correct him.  Nobody does.

The Black Order has managed to begin to make devices to track both Innocence and Dark Matter, in the time between their last encounter with the Noah Clan, and this one that is inevitable.  They can only hope they find a stronger foothold in the early Twnety-First Century than the Noah Clan has...
