Is it a headmate? Is it a fragment? Is it a facet? Is it a persona? Am I subconsciously masking? Am I subconsciously/involuntarily otherlinking/copinglinking? Is it a kinshift? Is it a ’flicker? Is it age regression? Is it a mood? Is it impulsivity? Is it an intrusive thought that I’m reacting to? Is it genderfluidity? Is it pronoun/namefluidity?
Who knows! Who cares! I don’t need to stress about this, it doesn’t matter! It’s a mode that the “I” is in, the way I feel in that moment! And I will make a pluralkit/tupperbox for it so I can express myself and decide the rest later! Or never! These labels are a construct! Personhood itself is a construct! I don’t need to box myselves! I can just live!

i know everyone says "evil alters aren't real" and i agree, generally. for a lot of reasons. but if youre here you probably know those already so let me skip to the point. shoutout to alters who feel like the evil alter, the mean alter, the ones who feel like no one likes them, or no one likes them as much of the rest of their system. i think a lot of the time people dont even realize that feeling or dismiss it... but its real, its valid to feel that way. i just hope it gets better.
(i know a lot of systems dont like using the word alter (which us fair) but im using it because thats the term our system uses. you can rb/relate to the post without using that specific term)

Weird/subtle amnesia things with DID that I didn't think I experienced because of amnesia
Not remembering that you don't remember. In fact, generally people who experience memory problems, but do NOT have DID, are typically aware of the fact that they have memory problems. People with DID generally remain unaware (not always, but oftentimes) and oftentimes afraid and defensive when their amnesia becomes evident. Be careful when pointing out memory problems to someone with DID (questioning or diagnosed) because of this.
Hazy/foggy/blurry memories. You look back at the past week and can barely remember. Having many hazy/blurry/foggy memories in general of your life.
Not remembering huge portions of your life history, especially in early childhood.
Losing knowledge and skills you know you had before. This doesn't just have to be things like cooking, cleaning, or driving, but things like drawing or other hobbies and interests, too.
Remembering only the facts of a situation, but not how you felt.
Remember vague details and being able to put together a vague summary of events, but not really truly "remembering" it. For example, you might know that you were very angry because you know you punched your wall, but you don't remember why you were angry and you don't "really" remember what happened, just that you were angry and punched the wall because of the evidence and vague memory of what happened, but you're unable to explain any of what happened or how you felt further.
Feeling like something happened a long time ago even though it happened recently, and vice-versa (feeling like something that happened a long time ago was recent). Especially if something happened just this morning, but it feels like it happened a long time ago.
(Feel free to add on!)

What they don't tell you about DID is that almost everything is just vibes. Literally just vibes. System mapping, inner world, knowledge about alters in general - vibes.

When you get to comfortable using "We" pronouns and accidentally use it in front of someone you probably shouldn't:

Whenever I have to explain being a system to someone who isn't a system I say that it's "compartmentalization on steroids" which surprisingly seems to work in getting them to understand.
Everyone compartmentalizes shit, they get the concept of putting certain thoughts and memories in boxes, it's just I put so much shit in those boxes that they grew their own personalities

daily amnesia in DID is something i don't see talked about that much, i see regular amnesia (ie not being able to remember years of your life, traumatic memories etc) talked about but never the daily things.
daily amnesia is on a day to day basis never being able to remember important things, did i take my medicine this morning? did i shower yesterday? have i eaten yet? what have i been doing for the past hour? what was i supposed to do today?
daily amnesia REALLY fucking sucks because whenever you start suffering you remember every other time you've been suffering and just scold yourself for not getting help and not getting better - but when the moment it's over? it's completely gone from your memory. it's so much suffering and you're so stuck because how can you ever get help for something you can't remember? you're always in a constant state of 'feeling fine' and when you end up getting help and going to therapy there's nothing to talk about because there's nothing you remember.
every day is groundhog day where you are forced against your will to repeat it over and over for god knows how long.

Think changing how I view myself from "Depression symptom holder" to "Man with depression" has given me the sense of having permission to heal, sometimes role labels aren't better for us, seeing my depression as something I have and struggle with instead of something put to me to help the system cope has been the first step to healing. I don't feel the pressure of having to carry this pain anymore, it's not about what's better for the system anymore, it's about what's better for me. - V

For any system that needs to hear this:
Experiencing periods of silence in your brain is normal. You’re not making it up or faking or actually just a singlet just because you can’t hear other alters 24/7/365.

being plural is crazy because you do the most mundane shit and have a bunch of people making live commentary on it like they’re streamers making reaction content

Non distinct switching is strange. We don't switch often. But when we do, half the time it's not noticed instantly and there'll be a moment when it's like "Hey wait a minute, I'm not the other guy!"
