Just a reminder that it is not your vet’s job to report if your pet got into recreational drugs. We aren’t snitches, we have no obligation to report drug use. We do, however, want to save your pet so please be honest with us about what your pet got into. It could literally be life and death for them.

could you debunk this? what’s true and what isn’t? It’s from a reading we were assigned at school. the rest of the reading was good, but we have to talk about it in discussion groups and I want to be ready and informed if someone brings this up.

That’s a veal crate. Modern veal doesn’t utilize veal crates - they’re illegal in many places and even where they aren’t the industry standard is to raise veal calves in group pens. They might start out the calves in individual pens/hutches to allow them to develop immune systems though

Watching Jurassic Park and I have Opinions on this place as a zoo. Feeding the predators live prey?? There's other ways to provide enrichment! Also that enclosure is way too small for multiple large animals like that! Electric fences? Ha! Electric fences won't stop a fucking goat! Where's the zoo experts? Who designed these enclosures?? Were all zoos this shitty in the 90s???

Most animal drugs: you must use this within 6 minutes and it must be stored between 61 and 63 degrees Fahrenheit.

Please teach your friends and family not to use poisons or glue traps! Not only is it a terrible way for a rat to die, but it kills our native birds of prey.
Controlling wild rats and mice is an unfortunate reality of urban living and introduced species, sad I know, but often neccesary - we need to do better, do it humanely.
Regularly checked live traps with a humane euthanasia method readily available, or quick kill traps and patience are more humane than slow painful deaths and dead natives. And you know what the best method of all is? Build nesting boxes for your local owls, and promote prey bird populations in your area, they’re the swiftest hunters of all.
Learn to identify the species in your home so you can be sure you’re not harming native rats and mice as well!
Okay soapbox rant over <3
