TAM SAM SOM INTERVIEW
Last week I interviewed one customer to determine which area the customer belongs among the TAM SAM SOM. Before asking questions I explained to him first what our app is about and its features.
Interviewee: Malex James Caga
Questions asked:
How likely are you to consider using our app PAWS AID?
Answer: If it’s free, I’ll download it right away.
Are there any barriers preventing you from using PAWS AID?
Answer: Since it’s free, I have no reason not to try it. Maybe later, I’ll decide on the premium if I need extra features.
What features or benefits would make you choose PAWS AID over competitors?
Answer: I like that it’s free and still useful. If the premium offers something really unique, like advanced tools or extra convenience, I’d consider upgrading.
Do you have an existing solution or plan for addressing specific problem about your pets? If yes, would you be open to switching to a different solution?
Answer: I just rely on Google or social media for now. But if your app is free and gives reliable answers, I’ll definitely switch to it. The premium features could be a bonus.
CONCLUSION
The interview revealed that the customer is highly interested in the app’s free features, indicating he belongs to the SOM (Serviceable Obtainable Market) as he is likely to use the app immediately. He view the free version as sufficient for initial use, considering the premium features only if it offers unique and valuable benefits. The customer highlighted a key pain point: reliance on unreliable sources like Google for pet care information, showcasing the need for a trustworthy solution. Ease of use and accessibility are critical factors, emphasizing the importance of a simple and intuitive interface to ensure user retention. Overall, the app has strong potential to attract SOM users, with an opportunity to upsell premium features by addressing their specific needs and demonstrating added value.

REVENUE MODELS FOR SOCIAL AND NON-SOCIAL ENTERPRISES
Last Monday, November 11, 2024, we were able to attend to a virtual lecture series entitled Revenue Models for Social and Non-Social Enterprises.

I have gained important and valuable learnings about how to generate income from our businesses, thanks to the amazing and knowledgeable speaker Mr. Karl Dominic Fajardo. It's my first time to know the difference between Social and Non-Social Enterprises and its revenue models. He shared some psychology-based marketing strategies that he himself used in his own business. His life story as well was very inspiring and it motivates me to become better no matter what challenges or hardships that I might encounter. Those who fails are the one who's going to be successful. I have learned some tips that I could really use and apply to my daily life. Spending 1 hour and 30 mins of my time watching the live session was very worth it, and because of that I now have a clear outlook on what approach we are going to implement in the app that we're going to develop.

PAWS AID APP CUSTOMER INTERVIEW
We are tasked to create or develop a system where it could help or solve the problems in our society. One of our ideas is the Paws Aid app that helps pet owners who wants to check current symptoms of their pets by reducing the need for a face-to-face consultation and to take action immediately relating to their pets condition unlike giving medicine or remedies that are not from a reliable source.
Virtual Interview with the Target Customer
I conducted a virtual interview with Mr. Al Ahzmir de Gracia, a pet owner. I asked him 6 questions, 2 from jobs to be done, pains, and gains. These are the 6 questions below:
How often seek advice or medical assistance for your pets help? - Only when they’re not feeling well
What types of pet related emergencies or services would you like easier access to? - A hotline something like 911
What challenges do you face when trying to get help for your pet in an emergency? - I really do have trouble in finances
What worries or concerns do you have about your pets health and safety? - Viruses especially parvovirus
How would you feel if you could get instant access to a vet or emergency pet care? - It would be a big relief
What would make pet care easier and more convenient for you? - If there’s someone who’s one call away
Insights and Realization
Mr. de Gracia’s responses reflect a strong need for convenience, affordability, and instant access to emergency care for pets. A service that addresses these concerns, possibly an affordable 24/7 pet care hotline or app, could greatly ease the pain points he experiences.
