He also craves Clark's dad's approval, whereas Clark is determined to be with Lex whether his father likes it or not. They hang out so much that Clark's friends think no one else exists around him anymore. Lex never fails to mention that they are gonna be best friends forever and ever. And the whole time you know that they are doomed by the narrative
