Frisk and Kris from undertail are also good examples of silent characters. You can still find subtle hints on their personality depending on the route you choose to take and little details like the save dialogue

I agree, but for a series where you play as a yandere, I feel like you need to know her background entirely, or else most people won’t emphasize. Now, because her background is shit, we can’t emphasize at all.

i usually don't mind when the character i play doesn't have much in terms of a personality, but like... it has to be done well, if you want it to work out. for example, persona 5 does a good job at this? the protagonist has a backstory and some established traits, but the player is sort of capable of influencing his personality by choosing various dialogue options. even if it's not much, it's just enough to not make the character feel bland and/or boring, if this makes any sense?

Yeah, silent/quiet protagonists can be cool, but when you’re playing as a girl who is “yandere”, you kinda want to know why. Or else they’re just seen as a psychopath.

There is no good art reference for the bullies! Because of that, they’re kinda hard to draw. (also im lazy and cant paint faces)

If anything, her mom’s behavior is evidence she showed interest in girls and her mom doubled down on trying to force her to be het. Tbh I don’t think Ayano is emotionless at all, just groomed

I mean canonically she is emotionless, but yeah, she was probably convinced by her mother that she must find a man in order to feel emotions, and thus she deluded herself into feeling that way when she spots someone attractive.

I don't understand why Ayano can't spend her time to get close to Taro and befriend him. Or maybe kidnap him like her mom did. She is wasting her time bonding with other people and killing them. How can she expect Taro to accept her confession when she devotes all her time to other people and not to him?

Wasn’t there for the thread, but from what I remember from what I’ve heard, basically people on 4chan called him out on his BS. There’s this last post he made on 4chan where he talks about he hates them, but I can’t seem to find it.

I can't remember where Alex said this (I wanna say it was in one of his videos awhile back, but can't remember for certain since it's been awhile), but he claims he can't pronounce "yandere" correctly because of how fast he's gotta talk in his videos. Is it so hard to slow down on words you have issues with just to ensure you say them correctly? Even then, the guy speaks slower than molasses from what I recall so this doesn't seem like a valid reason and he just doesn't care.

I'm glad you brought up the fact that Ayano's family bloodline basically needs to rely on someone let alone men in order to gain emotions. Surely, Ayano's lack of emotions could be explained via a tragic event in her childhood that caused her to become emotionally numb from the impact but YandereDev logic dictates otherwise... oof.

It's funny that the YS is literally just a bunch of easter eggs and references. There's nothing in the game that could be considered original and unique. Like, even the main character is just a recoloured model from Unity Store without any special features

I mean, there are a lot of volunteers that did create original assets, but I get what you mean.
