What are your secrets? How does being a loner make you impossible to bully? I’m a loner and I’ve never felt that. If you don’t want to share, that’s totally fine. But if you do, I wouldn’t mind the intel.

Broke: Solving bullying means getting kids friends! Because, you know, bullies like to pick on kids that are alone. We need to support initiatives like “Say Hello Day”! Encourage kids to join clubs and make friends! Wait, there are some kids who don’t want friends? Huh? I didn’t know they existed. Well, at some point it becomes their fault they’re getting picked on, right?

Woke: EVERY kid deserves a safe and supportive environment free of bullying, regardless of whether they do or don’t want friends, and we need to radically change the culture of our schools and society if we’re going to stop bullying. “Getting kids friends” won’t solve the problem.

Bullying really is a self-perpetuating cycle, isn’t it? All you have to do is bully someone until they have coping mechanisms that seem “weird”, then bully them for that.

I nearly had a panic attack today just from walking in a place where bullying usually happens to me. After I had gotten away from the area, I decided it might be safe to regress and took the dolly I bring everywhere out of my bag. I danced with them in the rain. But then someone from my school saw me and now I’m scared I’m going to get bullied for that too.

I hate this. I hate this so much. I hate bullies. I’m watching My Little Pony with my dolly right now. I just… I hate this.

your skin isn't thick. it's scarred from all the emotional beatings you let happen. don't make other people go through the same thing so you can feel better about yourself.

Kids bully because adults bully. When are we gonna start addressing that?

Kid: I experience constant harassment from my peers. It’s making me feel unsafe at school, and seriously hurting my mental health.

Adult: Well, why don’t you try getting some friends? You know, bullies prefer to pick on kids that are alone. They see them as easy targets. I’m sure you could find some friends!

Kid (who will later learn they’re friendship-repulsed aplatonic):

Yes! I hate hate hate this. Why do you get to hurt me because you’re sad? I’m at the point where I genuinely don’t care what they’ve been through.

Everyone talks about how fucked up it was that people told kids, especially girls, that if someone picks on you it means they like you. And that is fucked up and should be talked about, but you know what else is fucked up?

Telling bullying victims to have sympathy for their bully because “they’re probably hurting too” (also that the best way to stop bullying is to ignore it, but that’s another post). That’s really harmful and just teaches kids to ignore mistreatment and abuse because the perpetrator has had a hard time too.

We have to at least create a better world for queer kids than the one Nex left. Otherwise they died for nothing. But sometimes trying to do that feels so hopeless.

Nex Benedict was a non binary two spirited ingenious 16 year old who died on January 8th 2024 after them and their friend were attacked by three girls in the girls washroom the day prier to their death. Nex had been suspended for so called “fighting” in the washroom when In reality they were being bullied. on the 8th When Nex and their mother Sue Benedict were packing for an appointment Nex suddenly collapsed in there living room Sue their mother quickly called for help. By the time help came Nex was already dead. They were murdered and no one but their family and friends had done anything. When An Oklahoma, lawmaker Tom wood was talking about about the community he called the lgbtq2s+ filth following Nex death. what the fuck Tom wood you say want to protect us kids yet you allow a minor to die and to rub salt in the wound you called their community filth. The only filth here is you Tom you sick bastard. And too Sue Benedict I’m so sorry for your loss from what I’ve heard Your child Nex was a kind person who’s future was taken away from them I wish you the best.
