Just a quick update in line with my earlier post: Due to the current climate and my own comfort levels, I’ve decided to step away from writing police-related muses. As a result, the following characters are being officially retired from my roster:

If we have any ongoing threads with these muses, please know I won’t be continuing them. That doesn’t mean I don’t want to write with you—far from it! I’d love to explore something new with different characters if you’re still down to vibe. Thank you guys for understanding!

No More Copaganda in My House

I’ve been chewing on this for a while. Thinking about the stories I’ve written, the characters I’ve loved, and the ones I’ve made. Some of them wore badges. Some chased shadows under the title of “justice.” Some walked that PI line like they weren’t just diet cops with better trench coats.

But the world keeps speaking. And this time, I’m listening.

Effective immediately, I won’t be writing any police or police-adjacent characters—not mine, not yours. That includes traditional cops, feds, PIs, bounty hunters, anyone glorifying the thin blue line, or anyone whose characterization hinges on carceral logic. I’m even stepping back from my own muses who fall under that umbrella. No back doors. No loopholes. No exceptions.

The truth is, the weight of the real world—the violence, the systemic failures, the devastation communities face at the hands of these institutions—makes this choice easy. Not painless. But clear.

And if you’re writing characters in those roles, especially with any flavor of hero-wash, I urge you to think deeply. This isn’t about censorship. This is about accountability. We are, all of us, responsible for the stories we choose to tell—and what we normalize by telling them.

I’m not here to fight about it. I’m not trying to “change your mind” if you’re not open to it. I’m just choosing to make my space reflect the world I want to see, not the one I’ve watched tear people apart.

I believe in character flaws. I believe in moral gray. But I do not believe in giving platforms to systems built on oppression and calling it storytelling.

If that means we part ways? So be it. I want safety for myself and the people in my circle more than I want another cool plot.

Do better. Or step aside.
