NCSU Students as Campus Landmarks (Part 1)
Talley Student Union: extremely opinionated on how to pronounce “Tapingo”, likes to study with background noise, fan of modern architecture, the extroverted friend in their squad, probably lived in TOTA or the Tri-Towers their freshman year
Wolf Plaza: sk8er boi or Pokémon Go player (or both), went through a photography phase at some point, always greets every single person they know when they randomly encounter them, loves making music, knows the Wolfline routes by heart
Belltower: cold weather person, introverted but best friends with their roommate, likes to sit near a window in class to watch the rain, usually found in the library or design studio, likes walking down Hillsborough at night when it’s quiet and peaceful
Court of North Carolina: if it snows they will start a huge snowball fight, surprises you with coffee at the 8:30 class you share, favorite piece of clothing is an NC State raincoat or hoodie, their words always sound poetic, probably works at the UTC because they love to help people

NCSU Students as Avatar: The Last Airbender Elements
Water: actually works out regularly at Carmichael, loves to walk around Pullen Park, has a secret study spot they’ll never tell you about, somehow keeps their place clean all the time even though it’s where all their friends hang out, plans birthday gifts months in advance
Earth: brand loyalty to Howling Cow, knows so many people that their friends think they’re popular, takes pictures of sunsets every day, actually enjoys Los Lobos, always spotted with a vending machine soda in their hand
Fire: cheers the loudest at sports games, works hard and parties harder, are the ones screaming “WOLF” to hear someone scream “PACK” back, works at a campus coffee shop, empty classrooms are their favorite study space
Air: plays frisbee on the Oval, never stopped being obsessed with Lime Scooters, always rushing to get somewhere, gets to class right as it’s about to start, probably changed their major at least once

Types of People by Preferred Campus Coffee Shop
Port City Java: delicately balancing a sports team, a D&D group, and several extracurriculars, has ordered 7 mini Cokes on a meal swipe on Tapingo, the friend you trust to keep your secrets, tries to be in too many places at once, procrastinator but reliable
Starbucks: likes their coffee sweet, probably started shopping at Starbucks well before college, brings cute tumblers to class instead of a water bottle, fiercely loyal to their friends, likely part of Greek life, happy to help new students find their way around
Hill of Beans: started pulling all-nighters to study less than a month into their first semester, would trade their soul to get the old menu of specialty drinks back, smiles and greets the security/custodial/dining staff, cares about their grades a lot, probably spends their downtime between classes studying
Common Grounds: likely an engineering major, has good memories from a class in the Hunt auditorium, loves cookies and milk, ventures to Hunt at odd hours to take the Pokemon Go gym, somehow always running into someone you know, alternates room reservations with their friends to create an all-day study marathon

Types of People as Library Specialty Drinks
Bookstack Mocha: sitting at a giant dining hall table with all of your friends, a caffeine addiction, paint-stained clothes, at least 3 ongoing projects at any given time, studying a foreign language, long evening walks around campus, telling your friends you love them every chance you get
Digital Buzz Mocha: the best LinkedIn profile in your friend group, majoring in engineering, going to all the Wolf Ridge social events, staying up debugging code until 3am, probably tried to bring back LAN parties, would absolutely play Mario Kart on the side of a building if you could rig up a projector for it
Literary Latte: best friends with a CHASS major, quiet in classes but still has a reputation for being smart, everyone wants to be paired with you on group projects, somewhat of an early bird, enjoys listening to the rain, accidentally spent a night in D. H. Hill, puts up Christmas decor the day after Halloween
Wolfpack Mocha: shouting “WOLF!” while walking to class just to hear people shout “PACK!” back, your State hoodie is basically your uniform, would not be caught dead in Tarheel Blue, perpetual sore throat from cheering so loudly at sports games, considered running for student government or joining a fraternity

More Class Aesthetics
py 208/209: Dr. Lewis’s sweater vest, a packet of vending machine animal crackers crinkling in the row behind you, the right hand rule, lots of drawings to demonstrate electric and/or magnetic fields, charging tape to make it levitate, thinking “when did this become precal?” as you solve refraction problems with endless trig
eng 101: wishing you’d taken ap lang to escape this, staying up late writing a paper the night before it’s due, your first time going to office hours, discovering that the UTC has a writing center, actually becoming invested in one of your readings, daydreaming during class discussions
e 101: witherspoon cinema, building straw rockets in class, the relief when lectures are finally over and you only have to go to lab every week, picking a FEDD project, learning to get along with your group, friendly competition, the engineering village cram&jam, skipping classes for FEDD and riding a Wolfline for the first time
e 115: realizing online class is not the way, reading webpages for so long you debate getting a chrome extension to read them to you, memorizing Unix commands, going to your TA’s office hour and realizing there’s a real person behind the grading emails, feeling like you have a superpower when you learn spreadsheets, a webpages repository on Github, earning 700 points and ignoring the rest of the class

CODA Class Aesthetics
py205/206: a late night in D.H. Hill with your textbook and WebAssign pulled up and a lukewarm coffee, the camaraderie of walking to an exam with dozens of your classmates on a Tuesday night, slowly befriending your lab partners, jealousy towards the people who have Dr. Weninger, a quiet afternoon in the Riddick atrium
ma141: the sight of a giant lecture hall for the first time, getting Atrium food with your study group, rolling your eyes at quotient rule problems, trying to figure out what the heck the squeeze theorem is, "are we allowed to use a calculator on the test?", the dopamine high from a green check mark on WebAssign
ma241: feeling super smart for deriving Newton's Law of Cooling, programming Reimann sums into your graphing calculator, never escaping trig substitution, disoriented from switching between Cartesian and polar coordinates, appreciating telescoping series' for their simplicity
ch101/102: your first F on a college assignment, titrating backwards when you accidentally go too far, lab coats and goggles, never being able to find a table to study at in Fox labs, getting out of lab early and sitting outside, commiserating about homework with your lab partners, walking out of the one lecture you actually paid attention in and just thinking about all the chemical reactions that make the world go round
