Reminder they want to increase the budget for ICE from 3.5 to 45 billion dollars.

Reminder the majority of that will be for building new detention centers.

Reminder ICE are *currently* detaining tourists who can pay for a plane ticket home and people with visa issues that were already resolved, because they have to make quota so Trump can brag about the numbers going up.

Reminder most of these people were already in the immigration system - that's why they were easy to detain.

Reminder this is all at taxpayer expense.

Reminder these are people.

As we get deeper into winter, the needs of local shelters and food banks is going to be more important than ever.

I want to encourage everyone to seek out their local shelters and food banks and ask what they need.

Most will have a wish list on their sites, nonperishable food, socks/underwear, and menstrual products are always in high demand.

In many cases monetary donations might be preferred, as they will be able to but in bulk.

Cities, towns, and states will also likely have information on their own .gov pages with more information.

When capitalism decides a that food, clothes, and shelter are not human rights it falls on us to support eachother.

This election has obviously been a lot to process and a lot to handle.

As cliche as it is, we have to put our masks on before we can help anyone else.

Take your time, get your head right, then come back stronger ready to fight like hell at every step.

We have until January to get ready. Try to connect with local organizations and communities, and see what they need in terms of support.
