❖ Logo ❖ ⠀ ⠀ Re-posting... I’ve accidentally deleted this post ☹️ so here you go.. ✧⠀ I always enjoy this part of the making process when it comes to blind embossing the logo. Gold foiling can be a bit tricky, whilst blind embossing almost always delivers great results. ⠀ ✧⠀ Many times I’ve been asked about my logo and how it was created. And the answer is, I designed it myself from scratch using paper and pencil. I really didn’t have a clear idea how I wanted it to look but I knew I wanted it to reflect my personality so I let the pencil do the job. Very often a pencil or any other tool is an extension of who you are. ⠀ ✧⠀ I believe that when you work authentically using your imagination and creativity, your work will always reflect this and others will be drawn to you. ⠀ ✧⠀ Branding is so important these days and it can be overwhelming being surrounded by so many amazing brands. Check out this little tool! I love it. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ I bought it a while ago and some of you helped me to connect all the parts together as the instructions were extremely unclear. Now that I’ve put it together and starting using it, I’m finding it incredibly useful. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ It comes with a lot of different ends. On this occasion, I’m using the sanding tip to sand the excess leather and smooth the edge of the bag. It is so much faster using this tool rather than doing it by hand. Really handy given that I have thirty bags to finish! ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Hope you enjoy the video! ❖ Last few steps ❖⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ At this point, I am dropping in my leather lining. Very important to glue the top edge precisely so both edges create one smooth line. I am also using squeezers to flatten the top edge. Very useful tool! ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ It is a fun process because at this stage you can see all the colours together. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Then I will top stitch the bags using matching thread colour and paint the top edges. The only task left to do will be attaching handles. 🥳🥳🥳⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Things always take longer than anticipated. Some magic moves 🕺🏻⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Turning bags inside out! I have a love hate relationship with this task. Whilst I am very excited to see what will come out, I am also very nervous not to wrinkle or scratch the bags. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Ideally, this needs to be done very fast so as not to keep the leather in a folded position for too long. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ What I usually do after I’ve turned a bag inside out is iron the inside surface of the body of the bag to smooth it all down. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ I am lucky that these bags are big and soft enough to be turned without any problems.! ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Hope you like the magic moves...⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ If you liked the video, please leave me a like and feedback below. ❖ Exciting times!! ❖⠀ ⠀⠀ Don’t you just love to start feeling a little buzz the closer you get to the completion of a project? ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ I have been working very hard for the last few weeks. This week I am at the stage where I am machining all the bags. I am currently working on making my Kent Shopper Bags in a variety of colours. At the end of this video you can see them half-finished on my desk. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ These bag are made using the machine-turned construction, which is supposed to be one of the easiest constructions. All you have to do is stitch the bags front to front and turn them inside out after. However, as with everything we do, nothing is simple — not even the “simple” things! ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ When working with large pieces like this, it is better to use a flatbed sewing machine so the parts are resting on the table while you’re stitching. If you’re using a cylinder arm machine, you’ve got to take most of the weight of the panels (my pieces are pretty heavy as I’m using slightly reinforced 1.2mm thick cowhide) in your hands and keep them flat and parallel to each other so the seam turns up straight and exactly 5mm from the edge. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ I hope you enjoy the video.
