Bruna, 2017
Influenced by my favourite chapter in Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities. It’s v simply about the embodiment of something intangible left behind. Both suffocating and hard to pull away from. The urban landscape is the devil in provoking typical journeys like this.
“Trading Cities 4 In Ersilia, to establish the relationships that sustain the city's life, the inhabitants stretch strings from the corners of the houses, white or black or gray or black-and-white according to whether they mark a relationdhip of blood, of trade, authority, agency. When the strings become so numerous that you can no longer pass among them, the inhabitants leave: the houses are dismantled; only the strings and their supports remain. From a mountainside, camping with their household goods, Ersilia's refugees look at the labyrinth of taut strings and poles that rise in the plain. That is the city of Ersilia still, and they are nothing. They rebuild Ersilia elsewhere. They weave a similar pattern of strings which they would like to be more complex and at the same time more regular than the other. Then they abandon it and take themselves and their houses still farther away. Thus, when traveling in the territory of Ersilia, you come upon the ruins of abandoned cities, without the walls which do not last, without the bones of the dead which the wind rolls away: spiderwebs of intricate relationships seeking a form.”

August 2016, I took part in a MA student’s organisation of a live build titled ‘The LAND.’ It was to build a timber structure that had been developed to improve accessibility and shelter to an outdoor classroom on the land of Wiston Lodge in South Lanarkshire, Scotland.

Project 1, Technology Studies (November 2014)
We have been requested to investigate and compare the technical details (from material use to ventilation, lighting, structure, foundation, roofing etc.!) between two different buildings, twice. We are to fill 8 A3 sheets, two for each building.
I've chosen:
The Georges Pompidou Centre (Rogers, Piano) vs. The Jewish Museum Berlin (Libeskind)
The Church of Light (Ando) vs. The Edward Charles Chapel (McLaughlin Architects).
Technical research is painful, apparently no one cares about what load-bearing category or what kind of structural frame is used on famous buildings.

Presentations 1 & 2 of Year 1. Both were testing grounds for a specific style / fashion I am attempting to display in connection to my "design proposals." I wouldn't name either of them successful, but a lot was learned from presenting them.
