"Happy Birthday, bud." Shu folds his arm around his best friend's shoulder and squeezes, "Drinks on me tonight!" [ofrexping <3 Just for his b-day!]

"Ah. Thank you", Izuru let out, kind of taken aback by the embrace. Usually hugging was a thing they only did when at least one of them was intoxicated. It was kind of nice to be at the receiving end of such an honest affectionate gesture though.

"I guess we could go out for drinks tonight. Just don't let me get too wasted - I have some important work deadlines set for tomorrow."

Who was he kidding? Drinking with Shuuhei always ended up in a killer hangover.

He was reviewing something!  Granted… it wasn’t the food.  A sheepish smile replaced the prior.  Sudden, new nervousness following his remark about not getting him involved, “Well you see ~”  Shuuhei kept that hand rubbing at the back of his head, “Eh-heh-heh–” 

Yep, that’s right.  He’d already gotten him involved.  More reason for Kira to join him on his little excursion into the realms of nicer establishments.

The hand finally fell to his side, “Come on.  It’ll be fine.  Nothing to worry about at all.”  He had it all figured out.  It would prove to be a wonderful night of fun, and flirting ~  An elbow lightly nudges towards Kira, leaned in near to whisper, “Her friend think you’re a looker.” Opened mouth grin and eyebrows lifted, “Ahh?”  Nudge nudge, “Ahhh?”

“I already told you I’m not interested in dating at the moment”, Izuru grunted, obvious beads of nervous sweat forming on his temple. Should’ve guessed that there was a hidden motive behind the request.

There was no way any respectable girl would like spending time with Kira in the first place - the poor blondie knew he was a downer and definitely didn’t have the greatest social skills either. Anyone who had ever been secretly admiring him from afar had grown tired soon enough after getting closer and seeing how all that mystery around him was simply awkwardness and insecurities on his end. Definitely not attractive personality traits.

“You should ask someone else. I’m not good with girls and you know it.”

Yup. This awkward duckling was uncomfortable already.

"Right. Reviewing."

Yeah, it was pretty obvious that they both knew about Shuuhei's real intentions by this point. The years of hanging around each other hadn't been for naught, after all. Oh well, maybe some tea and snacks could be a nice change of pace to their usual intoxicated routine.

"Fine. But if you try to get me involved in your pick-up attempts, I'll make sure you'll be paying the bill in full", was the final response as the blond sighed to himself. There once had been an incident where Hisagi had arranged a date for them and two girls as a couples' date- it was the awkwardest night of Izuru's life for sure. He had felt so bad for the girl that had gotten paired with him the whole evening... As long as such a scenario didn't repeat itself, they'd be golden.

“Any– cute.. girls?”  Damn, he’d been found out. A hand lifted to rub the back of his head with a laugh, “No!  No, of course not.  I wanted to uh – review it for the Seireitei Bulletin.  We don’t have nearly enough recommended places for the next issue.”

They didn’t, so it was true.  But he was definitely lying about the fact one of the waitresses was a real looker and he thinks he might have even caught her eye.  “So – tonight?”  Shuuhei inquired with a confident smile.

"There's a new tea house opening up in Rukon District 7." Shuuhei remarked, "Apparently it's pretty high end. You want to check it out?" (from ofrexping)

"A tea house?"

How odd was it for the tattooed man to actually have the time and interest to visit such a place. Usually most of their time together had been spent drinking and venting to each other instead of taking time to properly go out anywhere fancy. It kind of made the blond suspicious and he wasn't trying to hide it.

"Say... is there any cute girls working there by any chance?" Izuru questioned, knowing full well how easily his best friend was swayed by beautiful ladies. Some cute waitress could easily cause Shuuhei to spend all of his hard-earned money on tea and snacks for sure.

"Taicho..."

There's a surprised, somewhat taken aback expression on those pale features. This whole style of just blurting out such delicate things was so very Rose-like, yet Izuru couldn't help but think how he had such a hard time adjusting to it. How was it so easy for this guy to just be that open and honest about everything, he had no clue.

"It's not like I'm not accepting it... Sorry, if it comes across as such."

A sigh and an awkward shuffle later the lieutenant tried his best to speak out.

"I'm truly thankful that you're here for me. Love is such a hard subject for me, but... I think I'm learning more about it every time we spend time together. You make me feel lighter."
