Bokuto blinks before breaking out into a grin, “hi pretty lady, are you my wife?” “yes, now give me your credit card.” “okay, my pretty wife.” He gives you his card and turns back to sleep. About two hours later, Bokuto emerges from his nap and snakes his arms around you, resting his chin on your shoulder, “what’d you buy?” You put on your best excited expression, “an autographed BTS album and it was on sale!” Bokuto’s eyes mirrored your excitement, “really? how much was it?” “$8,000!” Bokuto drops his arms in horror, “wait, Y/n you serious?” The look in your eyes got him dramatically taking a step backward. “Ko, I thought you’d be happy for me! you know I’ve always wanted an autographed BTS album.” “but it’s $8,000!” “yeah it’s a steal.” “I’m going to need to take another nap and hopefully when I wake up it’s just a dream.” You giggle, “you don’t need to do that, I’ll tell you right now. It’s just a prank.” He visibly relaxes before collapsing onto the sofa. “thanks for almost giving me a heart attack babe. Please come here and kiss it better.”

You jumped onto the lump under the blankets. “oof!” your husband immediately wakes up and cages you in his arms, “what’s the meaning of this? princess, I was sleeping!” “hurry, give me your wallet, I need to buy a limited edition t-shirt.” “okay.” He hands you his card and pushes you off him. About an hour later, Matsukawa walks into the living room and leans against the frame of the door as he asks, “so did you get the shirt?” You grin up at him, “yup! and guess what issei? it was only $2500!” He immediately straightens up, “Y/N! are you kidding me? ONLY $2500?” “yeah…do you know what the original price was? $5000! I got a 50% discount!” He plops down on the sofa next to you, trying his very best to control his anger as he pleads with you. “is it refundable?” “nope, it’s a done deal.” He explodes, “PRINCESS! Why would you spend $2500 on a single t-shirt! eris’ notes: this is rushed and poorly written but i just wanted to finish it so bad so pls do not roast me

“bu, baby, are you sure you don’t want to stop at a hotel for the night?”

it’s hard to bite back your giggles as you watch your boyfriend, scrunching and maneuvering and folding in on himself in the passenger seat, attempting to find a position to lay down in properly with the seat reclined back. he shakes his head with a grunt.

road trips for the two of you were a regular thing, at least once a month, and you never stopped at a hotel for the night usually. but you’re driving this time, not aone, so you’d decided to take your car instead.

and you forgot just how small yours is compared to your freakishly tall boyfriend’s.

eventually, after a few minutes of muffled huffing and puffing, he gets settled. one foot up and the dash and the other awkwardly scrunched in the floorboard, hoodie behind his head as a pillow. his sweatpants are bunched up at the bottom from his struggle, showing off his socks with kittens on them that you bought him as a joke (but soon became his favorite pair).

you smile at him, reaching a hand over to run it back through his hair, scratching at his scalp lightly just to watch the way his eyelids flutter at the feeling as he lolls his head towards you.

“comfy?” you question, earning another grunt as an answer.

any other person might not be able to decipher one of your boyfriend’s grunts from the other, but you can. and that one roughly translates to ‘not really, but it’s fine.’

you continue combing through his short hair, enjoying the occasional hums that slip from him. his hand comes over to rest on your thigh, barely there, really, but it’s nice, gentle.

there’s a tug in your chest, and you start to think about how far away the next hotel is, because seeing him all scrunched up makes you the farthest thing from happy. and then it hits you.

“here, i have an idea!”

there’s a jostled, surprised hum that comes from your boyfriend as you fling your car door open, hopping out and immediately opening the back one.

aone leans his seat up again as he watches you. you fold the driver’s side backseat down so it lays flat, then you’re running over to the passenger side to do the same. and then, with a wide and dopey grin on your face, you’re opening your boyfriend’s door and grabbing his hand to tug him out.

“c’mon bu. go, go,” you bounce on your heels as you gesture for him to crawl in. he eyes you for a second, just a tad skeptical, and then does as he’s told. you shut the door behind him and then run around to climb in on your own side.

the hard backing of the seats isn’t the most comfortable thing in the world—obviously—but as you push back on your boyfriend’s shoulders, you can’t help the warmth in your chest as you see he doesn’t have to scrunch his legs up anymore.

sure, his head almost reaches your hatchback door and his feet are settled between the front seats and resting on the console, but still. he isn’t all compact.

you grab his hoodie and tuck it back under his head, reaching for your blanket you packed in the floorboard and throwing it over the two of you before laying down beside him, smile still evident on your face as you turn on your side to look to him.

“hopefully this is better, yeah?” you ask, though it isn’t really a question. “didn’t want you to have to be scrunched up all night. i wouldn’t be able to sleep knowing tha—“

the rest of your sentence, whatever you were trying to say, doesn’t have the chance to roll off your tongue as a large hand cups your cheek and lips mold against yours.

eyes wide, eyebrows raised, you’re too caught off guard to kiss nobu back before he pulls away—small, small smile etched into his face.

“i love you,” he whispers, though it rumbles, his voice low and rough, as it always is when he speaks. and you find your cheeks heating up, leaning forward to hide your face in his neck to shield your blush. “thank you.”

“you’re welcome,” you mumble, and if you didn’t know any better you’d say you can almost feel the vibrations of a soft chuckle against the palm you have pressed to his chest. “and i love you, too.”

the car is filled with silence then. nothing but you, aone, and your shared heartbeats underneath your blanket as you let his even breathing lull you to sleep on your folded down backseats.

when you wake up in the morning, sunlight shining through the car’s windows, you find that your boyfriend had ended up all scrunched up regardless of your efforts. because he’d curled his large self around you in the middle of the night. but really, you can’t say that you mind.

and you might even start taking your car on road trips instead of his more often.
