Aoex chapter 159 notes.
Oh man, finally some good food!!!
We see this very "romantic" exchange between Homare and Lucifer. But remember, love for a demon is a very different thing. Love for a demon means a new body and the ultimate sacrifice from a human. We know that Homare is like her father; she's a demon-eater, meaning she can absorb and harness a demon's immense power into her body. But how powerful is she? Lucifer is the strongest of the demon kings. She must be scary strong.
This arrangement between a human and a demon is like a marriage; only one of the partners can die. If Homare is a demon-eater, Lucifer might lose his autonomy, or Homare might lose her life and become another mindless vessel. She must be Lucifer's last resort; the risks are high. To agree to this, Lucifer must trust her immensely and believe that she has been brainwashed to follow the Illuminati to the grave.
I've mentioned in previous theories that I believe that demons use humans as horcruxes to help disperse their power. The arrangement allows a demon to keep a vessel without burning it out. I bet that Homare has been slowly allowing Lucifer to possess her in increments, or has given her some of his power. This is why her hair and eyes resemble those of Lucifer. He's been preparing her for possession and acclimating them to each other.
This must be a new experiment for Lucifer, since he has previously resisted such human arrangements, disliking humans as inferior and refusing to create Nephilim. I doubt that he cares about Homare at all, just himself, and she's nothing more than a means to an end.
But here's the thing...if Homare is a demon-eater, that means she could control Lucifer. That's not a bad thing. That could have been Homare's mission all along. To stop the end of the world. If that's the case, she's the most deep-cover secret agent of all time.
Lucifer, from all accounts, is dim-witted, stubborn and abuses his power. Homare could stop his insanity, and give him a decent life as her shadow.
Except...this Narcissistic asshole shows up.
Angel is here for fortune and glory, to prove to the world that he's a big deal in front of the media cameras. He's here to kill Lucifer, so hide his ugly truth. If Angel is successful, he can continue to believe he is a divine, angelic being, not the rotten, accidental Nephilim of a demon king. Angel has conveniently provided Lucifer with an alternative to Homare. Angel is the perfect weak-minded fool to be taken over by a demon king without any meddling brains or a strong soul to get in the way.
This is why Lightning is prepared to kill Arthur. Lightning thinks like Mephisto: sacrifice the one to save the many. Ultimately, even if their methods are dubious, the results are what matter. Lightning can't let Angel get possessed by Lucifer, and he's prepared to sacrifice his one-time friend to save the world.
Just another interesting thing to mention. Lightning and Angel are bound by a contract. Angel isn't allowed to hurt Lightning. Why the hell does such a thing exist? Did the Order know that Angel was dangerous all along? Did they put safeguards in place in case this very thing happened? Curious!

As for my favorite scene from the entire chapter (even though I'm still shocked af and need to process everything calmly), I think it's what Angel said above. I think his statement completely and best describes and defines what he's like, aside from the clone stuff and this also gives us the opportunity to wonder what else it could mean

Spoiler!! Chapter 158
Mephisto's face here scares me A LOT! And I think rather than wanting to listen to them for entertainment, he needed to know what the answer to those feelings was. I got the feeling that deep down he saw Shiemi's feelings as a way to anchor Rin more to their side (humans/Assiah), so it can maybe prevent that Demong King Alternative Universe since...
But also the phrase “sorting yourself out will help you do what's necessary later” makes me think that maybe later on the two might end up facing each other. If Rin insists on helping Satan or convinces herself to be on his side, Shiemi (as Shiemihaza) might have to stop him under any means, and the odds of him deciding to hurt her are very fucking low.
Shiemi wouldn't want to hurt him either, however, if she's really committed to her current role she's going to have to do something. Shiemihaza's rol seems to require great emotional sacrifices and I hope we see more about that, since Shiemi must be far outside the standard of a Great Sage having been raised outside, far away from the Grigori (and Uzai).
Though it's likely that she'll choose to sacrifice herself in some way rather than harm Rin. That leaves them both in a standstill, but the people around them will push them to the extreme if necessary.
Anyway, I loved this chapter and I'm looking forward to what's next, and I want to see how it all progresses!
