Either Longbottom brother would be an amazing addition! Vale’s occupation and goals would fit in quite well with the current event, but if you’re eyeing Lyell, we’d love to see him instead. The best fit is a character someone loves and enjoys playing. That’s what we care about most.

Huh. Between school this week and personal things this weekend, I haven’t been on the main much to shout about how awesome our players are. As part of our ongoing Magical-Muggle Expo event, we’ve put out short summaries to help our players (and anyone interested) get a glimpse of what that expo looks like. Yesterday’s focus included a new accessibility tool/charm by Vale Longbottom. Vale is actually a playable character, so if that’s something you’re interested in, we’d love to see an app from you.

Product Description:

Vale Longbottom has made a career at looking how to take muggle accessibility tools and improve them using magical means. Adapted Voice in the latest in a long line of such tools. A specially designed set of wireless earbud activates through the use of a spell that even first year Hogwarts students can be taught to use. The spell will read aloud any written words through the earbuds, even when the person has written it themself. As long as the user has their earbuds and wand, they can make any textbook or essay audible and accessible.

Booth Description: 

While Vale himself is the one footing the bill for the booth, it isn’t just Longbottom Learning represented there. The tent houses several displays fearing different kinds of adaptive technology. From phone apps to other spells and charms and even the occasional potion, these displays represent the best of the best in developments to help wix of all ages independently do the everyday tasks their peers take for granted.

Hello! You can find a longer list as one of the filters on our character page, but I checked with our members about who they most want to see. I received answers of Scorpius Malfoy, Kyong Park, and Dominique Weasley. I encourage any members who weren’t online for that conversation to add your ideas in the replies.

Personally I’m also going to chime in with Vale Longbottom. Just to tease, the next event promo releasing will be related to Vale and his passion project.

Edit: I’ve had an additional player request for an “agent of chaos” with recommendations of Hugo Weasley or Yariel Florez to fill that void.

Description for all students:

Like any other visitors to the Madley Expo, on December 11 and 12, students are able to check out exhibits, buy things, discover new possibilities, and enjoy themselves. It is basically a glorified Hogsmeade weekend with a much larger scale for what’s available to them. The students have been given some extra warnings to be on their best behavior since they are representing Hogwarts not only in front of the general public but also international guests. Many have spent the week scouring their preferred news sources to get a better idea of who and what are at the fair as they’ve counted down the days to their own chance to explore.

Description for N.E.W.T. level students:

On top of the general fun to be had, 6th and 7th year students have been encouraged to use this time to network and discover possible career connections. Some may learn of new jobs or even new fields made possible by the technology merger while others might be using the opportunity to informally interview with a company they already had their eye on. In preparation for this, new tents and booths shot up overnight as small businesses, more traditional ventures, and Quidditch teams set up shop for just the last weekend in anticipation of this student contact.

Reach for your dreams in a whole new way...

Product Description:

Virtual reality has been an ongoing exploration in the muggle world for ages now, and given the possibilities magic allows, it isn’t a surprise that the idea would translate eventually. One could argue the same product already exists, thank to Weasley’s Wizarding Wheezes’ Daydream Charm, but there are small differences, namely that more than one person can share a moment of Osman’s virtual reality experience. 

In order to use the virtual reality charm, one must simply say the correct incantation with their wand tip held against an enchanted piece of parchment with the “programming” pre-charmed--at the same time as friends if they choose to experience a reality together.. Then the person will have a set amount of time in that world or specific moment virtually. Should the person want to create their own, they simply buy the blank version, write out their setting and situation requests as specifically as possible, then let the enchantments do the rest to build a virtual reality as close to the user’s specification as possible. 

Lydia Osman is advertising her product for a variety of personal and professional opportunities, including a pitch for team building through a shared simulation or a cheaper but unique date alternative for a couple trying to save their sickles.

Exhibit Description:

The virtual reality tent looks to be an open space because they spared no expense and had a demiguise hair tent woven just for the occasion. Within that open space (protected from Scottish weather!), visitors can talk to staff to learn about the charms, receive assistance crafting the perfect self-established reality, or kick back in a comfy chair to experience a charm for themselves. To those walking by, they seem to simply be taking a light nap.
