He can forget to call back, to lock the door, to turn off the oven, but never which books makes Remus cry, or which songs make him stare out the window for an hour like he’s somewhere far away. He can forget homework deadlines, umbrellas on rainy days, or to water the plant they said they’d keep alive together, but never the soft laugh Remus makes when he’s embarrassed. Never the faint freckles that bloom across his nose in summer.
