🐾 SUMMARY — After an experiment gone wrong, your partner has magically transformed into a cat! How would they deal with this predicament?

🐾 CHARACTERS — Shin Asakura, Nagumo Yoichi, Uzuki Kei, Gaku

CONTENT & NOTES — Established relationships, probably OOC characters, comedy and fluff. Bad writing, not super proud of this but it is what it is. I was intending to make each part a little longer to make up for less characters, but my mind was seriously blanking today.

SHIN ASAKURA

He becomes a cute golden cat with blue eyes!

At first, he’s very stressed about the change. How is he supposed to well.. do his job? Or at least scold Lu if she puts stuff in the wrong place again? What if another assassin comes along and he can’t even do anything, helpless in his cat form? 

And he hates this form! He’s much smaller, can’t hold things, his vision, hearing, everything is different- even people’s thoughts seem louder in his head now. 

On the other hand, Sakamoto and Lu don’t even seem to be that bothered, much to his dismay. Lu even has the audacity to try and pet him and pick him up. He runs onto the counter, hoping Sakamoto can sense the urgency of this terrible situation, only for him to leisurely try to give him a pat too. Not even looking up from his newspapers. 

Surely you’d help... right? At the very least you seem to be slightly concerned about the situation. However, you’re not acting as panicked or determined to find the solution as he thought you’d be. In fact, a few minutes after he nervously presents himself to you, and Lu explains the situation, you do the same thing as them- and reach out to stroke his fur. 

He grumpily lets you do so. He must admit the feeling is pleasant. He tries to think of anything that can help him escape from this situation. Maybe Natsuki can— he always creates different gadgets.. right? Or surely one of his other friends would know. Heisuke certainly wouldn’t. Lu and Sakamoto are useless. Aoi and Hana only find his change adorable. He can’t get in touch with Natsuki. Nagumo is 100% out of the question… yeah, he’s cooked. He makes a note to remind himself to get more useful companions. 

After a few hours of pacing in the shop and running away from Lu’s petting attempts, he settles down beside you with a huff, not meeting your gaze and letting you pet him for a while. 

In the day, he vows to go on a long mission to find a way to revert his changes. He stalks out of the shop with determination in his steps. Unfortunately, his plan is foiled quite immediately. Heisuke finds him first, picks him up (much to his insistent hissing) and pets him. When he finally frees himself he finds that there is nowhere to go within walking distance for him. He looks at you for help, but you have no idea what he wants to do. 

Lu suggests he must want fresh air. You end up taking him on a long stroll through the streets instead, enjoying the weather and picking up trinkets and food from the stalls of the bustling area and vendors. Even the pedestrians want to stop and pet him. He stoops away for the most part.

He returns to the shop an hour later fruitlessly... Why isn’t anyone worried?! Instead of aiding him on his journey to find a solution, you took him to enjoy the summer weather. Fine, it’s not like he dislikes spending time with you, but he’d much rather do it while he was a human!

It would take him days to get settled. He’d try to reprimand Lu for putting things in the wrong place, whether it be meowing indignantly in his most dignified way or biting/scratching at her apron. Sakamoto started reprimanding him instead for doing the latter. He turns to you for help, but you only coo at how cute he is. He can’t wait to be back as a human. 

YOICHI NAGUMO — 

Lithe little black cat with dark brown eyes <3

First of all, he finds some way to mess with you. I don’t see him as the type to purposefully do major things like pushing vases, thankfully, but he finds other ways to annoy you. 

Also tries to hunt and bring things in for you. Shows up with a dead mouse in his mouth. Absolutely not! He droops and drops it so you let him in. 

He’s definitely not complaining about a good excuse to slack off or take a break from his job. He’s not 100% happy about his predicament— he’s weaker, and he can’t use his disguise skills anymore. Well, he can, but he can only look like other cats, so it’s kind of pointless unless he wants to mess with you. If there are bright sides— he gets to spend time with you, he gets to not do his assassin work, and he can explore new places. 

However, he sure is smug about it. He sits on your lap or on your chest, gets all the pets he wants, and refuses to get off. If you choose not to pet him? Fine. He’ll dig his claws into your shirt and stay there all day. He has nothing else to do now anyway. 

After several hours when he finally gets off, you’re utterly covered in fur and he stares at you, certainly laughing at you. 

He takes this opportunity to claim all your items too. He gets fur over all your favourite shirts and hoodies, sleeps on your objects— papers, clothes, computer, keyboard— anything you need he’ll sleep on. 

I feel like if you tried to get him toys, he would indulge you and chase them for a bit, but even he grows bored of them quite easily. Not as fun as pouncing on you. Demands attention almost 24/7. 

The cat that stays up all night. When you’re asleep, he gets so bored. He spent his entire day napping on you so now he doesn’t know what to do. He goes outside, then meows and paws at your window so you can let him in again. Not like he wouldn’t be able to find a way to get in even if you didn’t let him in, he just finds your tired, grumpy expression hilarious. 

Although he’s not in a rush to return to human form, he’d preferably want to transform back in a few days. The last thing he wants is the other Order members on his ass, or people trying to take advantage of his new form to attack him. 

UZUKI KEI — 

Veryyyy fluffy white cat with pale blue eyes eek 

Blud is NOT happy about the change. He’s completely not used to it. If the voices in his head weren't enough, now he has enhanced senses— scents and sounds pouring in, and he can’t even fight a fraction as when he was a human.

Internally, Kumanomi thinks the change is adorable. She knows much better than to even attempt to pet her boss on the head though, even if they were close. 

He supposes he can tolerate some pets from you. Admittedly, the feeling is great. He tries not to act like he‘s enjoying it too much, merely tolerating it for your sake, but you would know better. 

As time goes on, he stresses out more. He knows it’s not like his organization would utterly fall apart a few days without him— Kumanomi or Gaku can take over just fine for a bit, and everyone is a capable fighter, but this change is horrible! He feels embarrassed and rather belittled too. Their notorious and strong leader shouldn’t be reduced to this useless.. fluffy.. cat. 

After a while of pacing he tries to settle down and think, curled up beside you while he tolerates your pats. 

Even if the members of his organization didn’t mind his change, or even considered it cute, he’d never ever recover from this. Out of everybody in his group, he was the only one who got turned into such a weak cat..! How humiliating for him. It’ll take much reassurance from you just so he stops thinking about it. 

And he certainly does not want outsiders to catch wind of this. Not only is it dangerous— he could become an easy target. It would also be even more deplorable if the other assassins found out the strong and calculating Slur turned into a.. cat. 

When he finally does return to his human form, he’s never so relieved and would prefer if the incident was never mentioned again. 

GAKU — 

Slightly long-furred light blue cat with pink eyes. Yeah, the colour is unnatural for cats, but his colours are also unnatural for a human so 🤑 

Lazyyyyy cat. A bit sad that he can’t play games anymore, so he just opts to sleep instead, or watch you play games [even if you suck]. 

Despite being somewhat grateful of his new predicament and ability to skip working, his loyalty to Slur would make him still a bit irritated about the change the first day or so. 

For the most part, he walks around the area or stays beside you. He eats, for the most part, snacks. You have to feed him chips in small amounts, because you’re worried him eating too much salt in a frailer form can’t be very good for him. 

Needless to say, Kumanomi finds the change cute too and even dares to attempt to pet him.

He can’t fight now, either, which is rather annoying. No training or jobs for him, and he won‘t even attempt to budge his own mace in this form. 

Canon that he sleeps like a log, but this is no less annoying even when he’s a cat. Sleeps in the middle of hallways, and even with enhanced hearing, absolutely nothing wakes him up. The amount of times someone has tripped over him too, as he’s much smaller now, is incomprehensible. If he isn’t sleeping in the most unconventional place, he’s sleeping on or beside you, and he does not wake up easily either. Which means you'll have to tolerate him for a couple hours, or you have to manually move him, which is somehow the only way to wake him up. If you do that, he wakes up, stares blankly at you and ideally jumps back onto you and falls asleep again. 

Just like Nagumo, he’ll also sleep on your things. Consequently, you’re covered in fur as are all of your belongings by the end of day 1. 

Watches you and/or Kumanomi game while he’s bored, lazily lounging beside you and internally judging both of your bad gameplay. If he’s feeling petty he might nip you for doing a bad play. What a shame that he can’t take over anymore, because he really wants to after tolerating half an hour of your ‘terrible’ gaming skills [in his opinion].

SHIN ASAKURA — 

Well, he already sees people like Lu and Hana as his family. Whether you’re as spontaneous as Lu or sophisticated, he’ll always be a bit protective of you. Especially before he called it quits as an assassin. Even if you were also an assassin, I think he’d encourage you to quit first. The job is dangerous. You’re younger than him, too. You should stay back and let him do the dirty work. If you insist on continuing your work, he makes sure that you’re always okay after the job and would ideally be there with you. 

On that topic, if you’re not so good at fighting, he’ll be more than happy to teach you! Self-defence is important, after all. His moves are not too shabby and you’ll learn pretty fast from him. He gets very dedicated and serious once he starts teaching you. 

He’s a good older brother. He makes sure you don’t get into trouble, doesn't do anything stupid, and tries to not get you involved in all the assassin affairs even after getting a job at Sakamoto’s Store. With bounties on their heads, the last thing he wants is for you to get in danger too, or have you wound up with a nice big bounty on your head. 

Your bond could be similar to his and Lu’s. A lot of petty arguments sometimes— like who will sweep the floors, which part of the fridge the peach sodas should go or each other’s work ethics and habits, but in the end, they never get too serious. 

Shin can tell if you have a bad day— yeah, with his telepathy, but probably also just from your cues. He knows you pretty well. He wants to respect your personal space, but if he thinks you’ve been having a shitty day, he makes sure to scold you less and brings you some snacks from the store, or Lu’s buns. He can tell whether or not you want personal space or want someone to be there for you. If it’s the latter, he’ll try his best to reassure you. He’s a bit stiff and awkward, but it’s the thought that counts. 

Speaking of which, he tries to get things he’s noticed you wanted. A snack you’ve been craving for a few days? He’ll make a note to buy it for you later. He’s not someone who will always get you what you want, but he does make notes on what you like or what you’ve been thinking about. 

All in all, he’s a great brother. Sibling-like arguments and conversations, knows what you want, teaches you how to fight, and he wants you to be safe. 

NAGUMO YOICHI — 

Well, let’s get the obvious out of the way— a lot of teasing. 

He’ll hide your things, start petty arguments with you, or purposefully do things he knows annoy you. Anything you can think that an annoying sibling would do, I guarantee he’s tried on you at least once. I feel like he’d also use his disguise ability to his advantage. Scaring you as someone else, or even “transforming” [or whatever you call it] into you and mocking your personality [lightheartedly]. 

However, he does care for you a lot. Despite being quite the risky person himself, I feel like, just like Shin, he wouldn’t want you to be exposed to the world of assassins and violence. His job is dangerous, and although he doesn’t hate his job or anything, he doesn’t want you to be in danger or to be involved in underground jobs like him.

If you aren’t an assassin, or if you’re on the weaker side, he wouldn’t mind teaching you how to fight too. Definitely takes the opportunity to tease you even while doing that too. Trips you, doesn’t go easy, and laughs when you fall over or fail to land a hit on him. Definitely insufferable. 

However, he knows your limits well. If his teasing seemed to have genuinely annoyed you or made you upset, he’d back off. He wouldn’t be the type of person to explicitly apologize. But he’d probably buy you something like a snack, or you get a pass from his pranks for a day or so. Maybe the next time you train with him, he’ll intentionally let you get a good kick or punch in. It’s the least he can do. 

Unfortunately, if you aren’t an assassin like him, or if you’re a much lower rank than him, [which you probably will be— he’s part of The Order, after all] sometimes he might just disappear on you without warning. Some kind of risky job, and he’s not answering his phone. Shows up a day or two later laughing about it. Lets you whack him hard on the head for it, at the least. 

After what happened with him being expelled from The Order, he prioritizes keeping you safe. If you worked alongside him, he gets you out too. Even if you didn’t, he’ll find someone he trusts where you can stay. He doesn’t trust his ex-colleagues enough that they wouldn’t threaten you to get back at him. Namely, the Sakamoto’s. Although he wouldn’t consider himself to be the best of friends to them, he knows that Mr. Sakamoto wouldn’t hurt you nor treat you badly, and would gladly protect you. 

He’s a good brother.. it’s just that his job gets in the way of a lot of things— and leaves you worried for him too many times to count. But at least he cares, he’s funny, and he knows your limits. 

GAKU — 

Another case that is similar to Shin’s— he already has people like Kumanomi who consider him as her brother. 

Whether related by blood or not, he may not act like it all the time, but he does care a lot about you. 

Likes to game with you, even if you suck. He needs a gaming partner sometimes. Although Kumanomi does, he appreciates your company too. He probably beats you at a lot of the games, but it’s the thought that counts. 

On the topic of fighting, he’d teach you too. I mean, he did train with Mafuyu. Unlike, say, Shin, he wouldn’t go easy on you. In his opinion, if he sugar-coats his lessons, you won’t learn to get stronger. So, unless you’re crazy strong, the first few times you’re gonna get beaten around a bit. Obviously, he makes sure not to hurt you too much, to the point of leaving scars or limiting your physical capabilities. 

Probably like the cool older brother stereotype where you just toss them the controller when you can’t beat a level and watch them absolutely cook it. Having trouble with a game? Give it to him and he gets a perfect score in a minute sharp. 

His nonchalance can be a bit infuriating. Returns very injured and acts like it’s no big deal, even if you and/or Kumanomi fret over his condition. If you seem genuinely worried, he’ll reassure you with something like, “Nah, it’s no big deal. Kashima can patch me up later.” But, unless you nag him, he’ll forget to see Kashima and spend the rest of the day gaming while simultaneously practically bleeding out. 

He’s not a noncaring person to you. If you had a bad day, got hurt, or something like that, although he wouldn’t try to explicitly comfort you, I think he’d try to make you feel better in his own way. Sharing some snacks with you, playing games with you, sometimes even going easier on you in said games, or, if he’s feeling nice, letting you win. 

His idea of what makes someone feel better is just relaxing or chilling. He’s absolutely not the one to ask for reassuring words or comfort, but he’s good company if you don’t want sympathetic looks and awkward reassurances. Just sit with him and play some games, eat some snacks and you’ll be feeling better, hopefully. 

I see him as someone who would also tease you or pull a few pranks. Not as much, or as explicitly as Nagumo would, but he does if he’s feeling in the mood to. Puts your things in high places or randomly borrows one of your belongings [like headphones, controller, chargers] and leaves them everywhere. Blasts music and refuses to turn it down. Typical.

Pretty good brother. Plays games with you, shares snacks, can mess with you, a little bit too lazy. 

NATSUKI SEBA — 

I mean, he already has a brother that he treats well! 

As he does with Mafuyu, he makes you all types of things from the JCC. Mafuyu didn’t like making contact with his opponents, so he got bladed shoes. Whatever inconvenience or odd preferences you may have, he makes some sort of trinket that can aid you with that. You’re better at a certain type of combat? A personalized weapon to suit your style. 

He might not act like it, but as he does with his brother, he cares about you greatly too. He has no outright qualms with you if you were a fighter or assassin. He’d even help you train a few times, whether or not you’re stronger than him. Teaches you how to use all the different types of gadgets and weapons he’s making, and can even teach you all about them and how to make them yourself, if you’re interested. 

He’s a smart fella. Helps you with your studies and academics. Struggling with a class? Probably says some shit like “imagine 😂”, but he doesn’t mind helping you for a few hours to make some notes or help you review. 

Had a bad day? “Type shii.” But he gets you a snack, some water and some medicine later. 

On the bright side, his life is not quite as chaotic as the others on this list. Meaning at least you’d be able to spend proper amounts of family time together. Takes you and Mafuyu out to buy crepes or something. 

Speaking of Mafuyu, at least you have another brother alongside him. Even if he’s busy doing his assassin work or a project at the JCC, Mafuyu is not bad company either. Sure, he’s an average edgy teenage boy going through puberty, but he tolerates your presence and can game with you or go outside for a walk while Natsuki finishes his business. 

It’s canon that they don’t exactly have a good relationship with their father. Naturally, Natsuki tries to protect you and his brother from any harsh tendencies from their father. If you had a day of extensive training, he’s usually waiting with some snacks and a bottle of water. He makes all kinds of handy tools to make the burden even just a little bit lighter. 

He and Shin are probably the best brothers on this list. He might seem a little uncaring and lazy on the outside, but he cares for you a lot, makes you all kinds of things and definitely values his family, and that includes you!

HEISUKE MASHIMO — 

He cares about you very very much! You’ll just have to tolerate the fact that he’s broke as hell. 

He wants to be the best brother in the world, and claims to be just that. Scrapes together any change so he can get you great snacks and food for the day. 

A little bit protective. His definition of “protection” is letting Piisuke follow you. A yellow bird isn’t that intimidating, but at least you have a cute, loyal companion with you. 

He’s very excitable. He doesn’t see much worries about letting you be an assassin at first, but he’d prefer you got a lighter job and let him do the work. That’s what a big brother is for! Brags about all his achievements, even the smallest one. Subsequently, returns to you sobbing after he fails or gets scolded or laughed at for being incompetent or only good at sniping. 

Just too hyper and kind for his own good. He gets the money for a good meal or finds an amazing deal somewhere, and runs back acting like he just won millions at the lottery over a slightly larger pack of chips or a pork bun that wasn’t microwaved for once in his entire life. 

He tries to do everything he sees other people doing with their siblings. They pick their siblings up from places? He doesn’t have a car, but he’s personally running to wherever you are to accompany you back. Walking their dogs together? He doesn’t have a dog, but he tries to walk Piisuke with you. Which is basically just a normal walk in the park with Piisuke trailing along. It’s the thought that counts... They tease their siblings? He can do that too! You don’t like it? He’ll stop immediately!

Once he meets and becomes friends with the Sakamoto’s, he takes you to their shop all the time. Promises a good meal, but then says, “Sometimes, Lu throws food at Shin and we can eat the ones on the floor!” That’s his definition of a good meal.

He’s a good brother as well. A bit silly, but he has the energy and values you so much! He can’t imagine losing you or getting you in danger.

the man just glances over to you, gaze focused on the expression on your face— it’s one that he knows very well. so, uzuki just holds out a slender hand of his and gives you a soft smile.

you’re quick to take the opportunity, your hand reaching out for his. your fingers intertwine, and kei’s smile just widens slightly when you squeeze his hand. he’s used to this, your love of touching him and being near him. and i’m all honesty, uzuki really likes it.

at first, dear heisuke was just a little sigh. “you— you wanna spend time with me?” he’d blink, gaze darting around in search for cameras— because there’s no way you’d want to willingly hang around him !!

but, there is a way— and heisuke is overwhelmed with pure joy when your hand finds his. he’s grown to cherish your shared moments, his eyes sparkling with adoration whenever he wakes up with you clinging onto him, and his heart beating just a little faster when you ask him to stay with you longer before leaving.

oh, but his absolute favourite thing in the whole entire world is when you message him. the poor man has to lift a hand to clutch at his chest in attempt to stop his heart from beating so fast. you miss him? you MISS HIM???!!!!

shin could tell from the start that you were the type who valued closeness and quality time. not only because of his abilities, but because of the way your hand would reach out for his slightly every now and then. or maybe it’s the way your eyebrows would furrow whenever he said he had to go somewhere— or, it could be when you’d linger for a little longer around him.

whichever one it is, shin noticed. so without you even asking about it or mentioning it, he grabs your hand gently. the man just flashes you a smile, lacing your fingers together and shifting slightly closer. even with the rather.. direct approach that he’s taking, it’s hard to hide the way his cheeks flush at that smile on your face.

like shin, shishiba also noticed pretty early on. he was much more gentle about the way he went about it; he started with inviting you out to dinner one night. he had already known for a while that you appreciated quality time— so he was more than happy to spend time with you.

every now and then, during your dates, he likes to hold your hand. or, if you’re eating out; his foot sort of drifts towards yours. even the smallest of touches mean something, to both you and him.

he also makes sure to always wake up just a little earlier so the two of you can spend more time together in bed before he has work— the feeling of you beside him is one of the best things this world can offer, in shishibas opinion.

natsuki seba ✦

natsuki is similar to you— he also loves spending time together. so, one of his favourite things is when you come to visit him when he’s busy working. natsuki’s never too busy to be with you— your boyfriend loooovvvessss having you just sit beside or near him, sometimes listen to you talk or just sit in silence, enjoying each other’s company.

however, he has to admit that he quite likes spending nights with you. his arms find their way to your waist, his head immediately shifting to rest against your shoulder. the man can be quite clingy when he feels like it; but he knows that you’re the same. and he fucking loves it— he loves you.

Please, I feel like it's hard to get him in a state so vulnerable. Intimacy; itself, is very sacred to this man. To be open and to allow that special someone into his life. It's so... scary.

So, the first couple of times, he's probably discussed what he wants and what he likes. He likes praise, he wants safety. There is a safeword and there's one thing where he draws the line — feeling too good.
