The Perception of Biophilia
Do you live in a city? I have a couple of questions to ask you. How often do you go to the public park? As a person who lives in Bangkok City, I barely go to the public green space. About Once a month or less. Do you want to have a lot of trees in your city? The answer would be yes, definitely. Why do you want to have lots of green space if you barely go to the park? Maybe because it’s better for the environment, it provides shade and oxygen, and after you long working with a computer, looking outside and seeing green space is relaxing.
Basically, most of the people who live in the city don't have direct contact with green space. We are visually in contact with nature. Seeing parks when you travel from one destination to another. Seeing trees from the sidewalk as you travel along the road. Seeing green space from a far-away view from the train.
If you live in a city where there are lots of greenery around you, due to research and theory from biophilia, a person who is in contact with nature is associated with improved bit spiritual and mental health. This fact includes the condition that a person is not in direct contact with nature.
Doing this project arises a question of do we really need a 100% nature green space associated with the city. What if we only provide a natural public green space to some places where people can actually interact with nature. Other than that, it is partly an artificial green space to provide more sense of living in lots of green. This is in order to harmonize the perception in the city, which will become more balance in nature and concrete, not an excess concrete jungle like nowadays.

Bangkok Near(ly) Nature
Do you believe in what you see? If the answer is yes, you would probably love what we did.
Bangkok Near(ly) Nature is the project dedicated by the Thai Government in order to increase the public green space in Bangkok for higher life quality. In a dense area along BTS Skytrain, full of commercial, office, retail, and  hotel buildings, you can barely find public green space. Of course, a concrete environment is not the best environment you want to have in your daily life. With the help and participation from developers, Bangkok Near(ly) Nature eventually started. Looking outside from the Skytrain, you would see a lot of green space intertwined with high rise buildings.

In here, the green space will be bigger than average projects. Because Groove is right next to the skywalk between Paragon and Central World. Many people walk pass and see this view as clear as seeing the advertisement from the mall.

At sheraton, the clearer point to make on the perception or point of views. The two garden are designed to perceive that the two garden is connected just they have a building blocking the view. But actually it is not connected.

Fictional Scenario
“Chertam, are you free this evening?” “Yes, why?” “I am running out of my foundation, I need a new one. let’s go to siam square” “Sure I will, i need new eye liner too”
After two of them get everything they need, they decide to grab a drink at one of the coffee shop in siam square one. While they were talking and enjoying coffee, Chertam has noticed a little bit of green in this mall.
“Hey look at that, that’s the new park in siam square” “It’s pretty small, is it?” “Yes it looks really small and very strange” “Can we go inside?”
“I think it’s free of charge, we can go inside” “It’s amazing being inside here” “I feel you” “This corner is nice too, do you want to take a picture?” “Yes!”
They took sometimes to take picture for each other in the small garden. While others are, too, taking pictures.
“I really don’t recognise that this is siam square one in the picture” “Me too, these green has cover it all up” “But what is this place for actually?” “Like a small park maybe?”
“But i wouldn’t hang out here to be honest. Will you” “Hm i don’t know” “Like if you can choose, chilling here, or a cafe nearby, what will you choose?” “Cafe absolutely” “Right? everyone here is just taking photos and left” “Or that is the purpose?”
Then couple of people walked inside the park with a picnic basket. So two of them rushing out of the park because it is not big enough to fit so many people at the same time. If this park become popular, Chertam guesses they have to get in line maybe?

Fictional Scenario
“I really don’t recognise that this is siam square one in the picture”
“Me too, these green has cover it all up”
Tumblr media
Here is the conceptual diagram of how the elevated park should be placed. As the place is small, we will use the perspective to make a couple of smaller gardens look continuously and bigger just like the English garden does, but where to start?  Actually starting along the BTS line, as a collective privileged transit trajectory can give the possibility of studying analytically a shared point of view. The garden will be applied a lot of perspective trick to make it looks bigger. for example the inverse perspective, and mirror to reflect more green space

These are a few possible ways of how people might react to this future scenario. People might enjoy the view in the park and the place will become viral on Instagram, or people can disagree with the project. The media platform like the Bangkok post might try to evoke the question like, is it worth or not for these park concept. Or websites like Wong Nai or others can suggest and promote this place as a place to go and take a nice picture.

The English Garden
English garden is the picturesque garden that is designed based on paintings, basically, it is the construction of the idealized garden. Every element they put in the garden is being placed for a reason, in order to make it look like the painting they’re referring to. And it is only built for one perception. Because we build what we want to see so we see want we want to see.
Tumblr media
I studied the system of English gardens and tried to understand what is the principle of it. There are 4 main components in the English garden which are dominant, like an eye-catcher obvious artificial object. the field, like grass field and pond. the medium, like bridges and grottos, and the common, like the surrounding trees.

These are the analysis of English gardens with different objects from the 4 components. The result evaluation is that in one perception, there should be a large open field, usually with slope, one artificial structure on top, and the common as background. And the result would be similar to the ideal composition of the English garden. But there is another core idea of the English garden which is the sense of perfect view.
Tumblr media
A HaHa wall is a wall that is pushed down under the ground, unlike the normal wall that we will see the partition or the fences of those walls. The HaHa wall allows us to see the big continuous landscape like we want to see. Another one is to intentionally build the eye-catcher outside of your land, like in the Rousham garden. The eye-catcher is built at a specific position for one view from the Rousham house.

PERCHARM - Empowering Tools
We are a performative kitchen, where you can experience every delicate process of your favorite modern Thai dish.
We start with the question “ Why can’t we wear jewelry?”
The answer is it would not be good if our jewelry touch or drop into your food. It is because we care about your health and the hygienic condition of the food.
Tumblr media
What Percharm do in jewelry aspect is we design jewelry that chef can wear it during cooking, so it rather is beautiful and not disturb the cooking process, in the other way it will empower the process of cooking instead.
