I’ve always seen this woman as an icon, kind of like a muse — especially in fashion ! (And I’m very admirative about her mindset)

But also, honestly, she’s totally my kind of woman 🫦

 Right from the start, we know Drolta sees humans as cattle, with no pity at all. But when she saw you for the first time, it was all the same to her, just tasting your blood before giving you to Erzebeth.

Then, after mysteriously becoming intrigued by you, another human was chosen… but what about you now ?

Well, she probably decided to keep you for herself. Of course, the pain was very real in her bites, but she keeps you for herself. I think at first, she stays distant, even despising herself for feeling that way about… a tiny little human like you. She won’t accept her feelings at first, denying them, treating you only like a little pet, food even, but that doesn’t last forever. Her feelings won’t stay hidden, buried infinitely.

So, little by little, she starts feeling more for you than she lets on.

Then it explodes she loves you, madly, deeply, passionately, despite her nature.

That’s when she takes and hides you from everything, other vampires, Erzebeth. In a comfortable and luxurious place she chose just for you.

When she ends up accepting it and by “accepting,” that means dominating you, possessing you, in her own way.

Honestly, Drolta is definitely the kind to shower you with excessive gifts, but it starts gradually. First, she makes sure you have a comfortable environment, even if it’s closed off at the beginning — she doesn’t want you to escape. Because besides losing you, this would cause her a lot of trouble if anyone found out she’s protecting a human

Then come the clothes, the jewelry, the makeup — she pampers you like a real doll ! Like this morning, when you woke up dressed in dark clothes that fit you perfectly. Indeed, Drolta has taste :)

Basically, she also wants you to be better, and make you better, in her own way…

Of course, I think she’d be over-the-top demonstrative, forcing physical contact, burning you in long embraces. You’d probably be terrified at first, her caressing your hair to lull you to sleep. And then, Drolta is the kind to chat for hours with you in that big bed in that closed-off room for now; she’d probably tell you Erzebeth’s new plans.

Maybe you’d end up loving her too? After listening to her and being carefully listened to, you’d notice she’s mostly a woman blinded by the love for her goddess but also broken. She’s extremely intelligent and cultivated.

But don’t get it twisted, you’re human, she’s still a vampire — you can’t count how many times she’s fed on you, her beloved, her soulmate… her goddess. All those nights when you were woken up by intense bite pain on your neck, (or anywhere else 👀) her luxurious, heavy scent invading your nostrils.

The more time passes, the more trust settles between you. You have deeper and deeper talks, and she even starts telling you about her past. Then she swears by you and what had to happen happens. That night she decides to make you a vampire too, after all, she can’t afford to lose you. She gives you everything she has — her belongings, her body, her heart, her soul, her mind, her total loyalty and devotion.

And obviously, she frees you from that comfortable but closed place. Out of love, you’d follow her anywhere

I think it would be a beautiful, albeit morbid, story. Maybe she’ll betray now, Erzebeth for you ? Without ever abandoning her goal regarding Sekhmet, but only by your side.

Nothing else but you and her, against the rest of the world.

the word empathy is WIDELY misused, even in mental health spaces. 

empathy:

is responding to a person’s emotions by experiencing the same emotion as them (i.e. feeling sad when something sad happens to that person, or happy when something happy happens to that person.)

is an automatic response that cannot be controlled

cannot be learned

sympathy:

is recognizing that another person is in pain, even if you do not experience that pain, and offering comfort to that person

is something a person must actively choose to do

can be learned

compassion:

is showcasing care and support via words and actions

is something a person must actively choose to do

can be learned

if you need an example of a person with no empathy who practices sympathy and compassion, look no further than data from star trek: the next generation. he doesn’t have emotions at all, but he’s still kind to people and wants to help them.

stop telling people that they’re evil because they don’t experience empathy. stop equating empathy with morality. stop equating empathy with caring. stop saying that cruel people “lack empathy.” stop throwing neurodivergent and mentally ill people under the bus.

trump shutting down programs like job corp across america is due to them wanting younger people (16-24) to enlist in the military. like that program literally helped homeless teens, young adults, etc. help many of them pick up trade occupations/training, get their ged, etc. like they truly want us middle to low class citizens poor and dumb to the point where the only option to enlist in the military. which i honestly hope no one do!

this country don’t deserve your hard work to go fight in their war of greed, power, & resources. look at how they treat their vets!

my internal struggle, as a black woman, writing black reader-specific fanfiction: a reflection

sometimes i catch myself feeling bad for having many of my works be specifically geared and shaped around black readers. and this is because the last thing i believe will drive out harmful discrimination and exclusion is more segregation, but then i remember that there are a plethora of other works out there tagged with “white character’s sister!reader” that will simultaneously boast lines such as “you tried to hide the growing redness on your cheeks.”

my first contact with reader-insert fanfiction was when i was around twelve. they were written for various fandoms i’d lightly dabbled in. as i read them, i made myself feel better when i saw white or fair skin-coded lines by psyching myself into believing i just wasn’t the norm; that it was okay for me to not feel seen by others. after all, i could just pretend those lines didn’t exist, right?

but it sucked and, especially as a black girl growing up in one of the most poverty-striken states in the US, i felt weird for liking what i liked. all my peers were watching bad girls club or listening to solely rap and r&b, but i was getting into fairy tail and how to train your dragon and visiting barnes and noble almost twice a week. i liked vocaloid and MMOs and had the radio set to my local pop station for hours a day.

so when i catch myself feeling some type of way because i’m not feeling inclusive enough or like i’m perpetuating centuries-long issues just in reverse, i imagine little v right next to me in her school uniform, relaxed hair in a high pony, and ballet flats. i imagine her on her kindle fire scrolling through silk browser. she finds my—her—black reader fanfiction. she’s so excited that she has to inhale sharply just to catch her breath. she smiles cheek to cheek as she taps the link.

her seeing my work tells her that there are black girls out there who aren’t weird for liking what she likes, and they write too!

so i implore anyone with doubts to undersrand that “x black reader” fanfiction isn’t an act of segregation, but rather, an act of healing.

You know what I think is really cool about language (English in this case)? It’s the way you can express “I don’t know” without opening your mouth. All you have to do is hum a low note, a high note, then another lower note. The same goes for yes and no. Does anyone know what this is called?
