Camila was probably the worst person that Killian could have found right now. She was not the most sociable person in the slightest. She preferred her own company or that of horses over people. However she knew in a place like this... She couldn't simply keep to herself. They had let her in. They had given her a home when the world went to shit so... The least she could do was attempt to give back in some way.
She cleared her throat before offering a small smile. That was one step, right? "Sure thing. You're... More than welcome to talk. I'm much more of a listener though, does that work for you? I'll... Respond where I should," Camila could handle that much, couldn't she?

Killian can often be found in the rainstorm, the place gave him peace. Seeing how it grew-- feeling like how it felt before all of this had a calming effect on him. At the end of his day he always liked to close it off with simply one drink in the place before going back to his room and resetting.
It's a place he can be social, or just listen to other people's conversations. Today was a particularly social day, he didn't feel like being alone. So he ordered himself a drink, took a long hard look around before deciding who he'd strike up a conversation with. Walking over, drinking in hand and a warm smile on his face. "Mind if I join you? Fair warning I am in desperate need of conversation so I will talk to you for hours if you allow me to"

Hadley wasn't sure how she could carry on. She was the only one alive out of her entire family and it was pretty safe to say she felt lonely due to that fact. Hadley knew there were many people who would take her under their wings in here. People that she could form solid relationships with but... In truth? She was scared. Scared to let people in again as she wasn't sure she would survive the grief once more.
The movie night was an attempt at surrounding herself with good people. Perhaps even striking up a conversation with someone while watching a decent movie. It was worth a shot, right? Maybe letting someone in wouldn't be such an awful thing?
Her brows furrowed as she realised she was too early but figured walking back out to return again ten minutes later was rather pointless. Though it seemed she wasn't alone in her early arrival. She let out a squeak of fear, hands raised in defence. "Woah, woah! Please... I'm not gonna hurt you." She assured, heart racing as she stared at the other. A sigh of relief left her. "The same can be said for you! You scared the shit outta me too."
Hadley let out a nervous chuckle, brushing herself down. "Jesus. Everyone's so jumpy round here. It'd be funny if it wasn't so depressing."
Lucky couldn't recall ever missing a movie night. Since their inception she was a regular, appearing with a reliability she reserved for almost nothing else. Despite her blase attitude regarding her job at the library she was a voracious reader as well, and that paired with her love of film meant that, at her core, Lucky was a lover of stories.
And these days her own story had gotten more complicated.
The massive lecture hall was empty, the projection screen blank. Dark brown eyes stared, unfocused, into its depths while she drew a finger absently along the handle of her knife, still sheathed in its holster around her thigh. Lucky never used to carry a weapon, but since the rescue she didn't go anywhere without that knife. She was early, and she knew the hall would fill with people soon enough, but that fact did nothing to assuage her nervous system when she felt a presence over her shoulder. Her breath hitched and her fingers tightened around her knife; she whipped around to face her attacker, shunted from her reverie in a way that left her heart thundering against her rib cage. It was a split-second of panic. Her wide eyes took in her new companion and she deflated at once, releasing her weapon and using that same hand to swipe a bit of hair out of her face.
"Holy fucking shit, you scared me."

Camila was trying. Trying to speak to more people, to perhaps even forge relationships in this place. She couldn't simply rely on her sibling for all her human interaction now, could she? Even if Camila did often prefer the company of animals over humans. It was part of the reason she chose the job she did here. Speaking to a horse was a whole of a lot easier than trying to understand a person. "Uh, thanks." Camila responded with a nod before taking a seat at the bar as instructed. "Just wanted a beer but... If I'm too late to sit for one then it's okay. Just thought I'd..." Attempt to socialise? "Try it out, I guess."
THE BLOATER // open
There is a time at night when the bar gets quiet. Everyone has either left to sleep off their buzz or go to their night jobs. It feels like everyone is on the same loop: wake up, work, drink away whatever is haunting them, only to do the same thing the next day. lina sighs. She cannot believe ten years have passed, and she technically owns a bar. Life just seems to be funny. The bar door swings open as someone enters. "I'm not cleaning anymore tables, so sit at the bar," she calls out to them, cleaning a class. "What can I get you? or better yet, why are you here?" Her tone is blunt and a tad unfriendly, but she does nod at a chair.

Hadley tried to hold in her giggle but it was pretty damn pointless, especially when the other began to make a joke of the fall. Her lips curled into a wide grin as she admired him. "Oh, totally. That's actually pretty impressive. I'm... Honestly not even sure how you managed to do that." Hadley mused with another chuckle and shake of her head. "For sure! Coolest person in the world for being able to style all that out without even losing your banana. Though... Not so sure that looks very tasty right now." Hadley taunted as she gestured towards the dirt covered fruit. "Might make it taste better, who knows? Maybe that's the seasoning I've been missing in the kitchen."
☆゚*·゚ Now, if you didn't know Dev, you'd think he had his entire life together. After all, he's a doctor, so why wouldn't he? But to be quite honest, he's a bit of a goofball and tends to be a little bit careless when he's trying to multi-task. This is how he's found munching on a banana, while walking. Minding his own business, he's simply trying to head back home from the hospital, miraculously in the daylight. But he's too focused on his banana and his feet not only give out, but tumble over each other, causing him to fall. He tried to steady himself, flailing his arms like a hooligan, banana still in mouth. And then he falls, face forward. "Oof. Well that didn't go as planned." Looking up at the person standing in front of him, who no doubt saw him completely eat dirt, he laughed awkwardly. "You must think I'm the coolest ever."

(havana rose liu. cis woman. she / her.) ⸺ 🦬 greetings, buffalos ! walking around campus, sporting her little sister’s plush panda we’ve spotted HADLEY KANG, a twenty - four years old who contributes to our thriving community as a COOK. according to our intel, she’s been around the sanctuary for three years and what we know about her, aside from the fact that she doesn’t agree with the decision to close the gates, is that she can’t talk to a pretty girl without flushing a deep red, she has a keen interest in cross-stitch & she can’t sleep without her sister’s plush tucked in her arms. doesn’t that make her fantastic ? we think it does, and that’s why we appreciate her so much, grateful for what she gives to our community.
basics.
name: hadley kang
nickname: n/a
age: twenty-four

hadley's life was perfect before the world ended. she was happy. sure, she was the type of person who wanted less pressure from her parents and to live her own life but... she would give everything to see her family again
see... hadley blames herself for the death of her family. for the death of her little sister. she had snuck out of the last sanctuary, believing she had shut the window behind her but... she hadn't
when she returned late into the night... her family were no longer her family. they were infected. even her five year old sister
she grabbed everything she could get her hands on in order to survive and got out of there
hadley doesn't know if she was completely to blame as she wasn't the only one to sneak out that night but she can't stop blaming herself

basics.
name: camila alves
nickname: mila
age: thirty
orientation: pansexual
occupation: animal keeper
hobbies: writing short horror stories, singing, talking to the animals
likes: animals ( more so than humans ), reading, helping out in the gardens
dislikes: spiders, heights, talking to people, large crowds, high heels
bio.
camila was raised by her grandparents after losing her parents in a car crash. it was just herself and her sibling and their grandparents in a small house but they made it work
camila had always been an... antisocial person. always struggled to make friends, often left out of social events and picked last when paired up in class
she didn't mind at all though as she much preferred her own company and reading or writing rather than conversing
the only person who she really opened up to was her younger sibling. they were inseparable and more often than not... the younger sibling wound up defending / protecting camila a lot
they lost their grandparents when everything went to shit bc... old and slow ofc oops
so her younger sibling was the one to suggest they come here and well... camila would do anything to keep them happy
wanted.
her sibling !! brother or sister or nb i don't mind !! so long as they are younger, they can be any age !! any fitting fc or if you struggle; i'm open to them being adopted so long as they are a poc
someone to bring her out of her shell
