Love was absolutely there to help her choice in letting her go, she knew she couldn't last like Elphaba. If Elphaba was truly going to make this choice then who was she to choose being a burden for someone she loved and effectively getting either one or even both of them killed.

She knew she wouldn't last, yes it was selfish for her to choose the safer option, but it would also be selfish to join Elphie and lose her in the process anyway. And even if they did succeed, who could say they would be happy at all? Being on the run, nothing permanent, just each other, and even that was on the line if one of them ever got caught.

Love gave Elphaba a cape to make sure she never gets cold while whipping through the wind, a blanket during the night, a pillow when she cries, something tight she can cling on to.

It annoys me when people judge Glinda’s choice in defying gravity as her not loving Elphaba enough to go with her. Glinda’s decision had nothing to do with love and everything to do with ideals and genuine fear.

Glinda doesn’t believe that actively rebelling against the government is the right way to fight for a cause (aka becoming enemy number one). She flat out says “you hurt your cause forever. Like judge her for her politics but not her love for Elphie because her love for Elphaba is what causes her to actually become Glinda the Good.
