History is fucking repeating and it is MADDENING. I was at protests against the Iraqi invasion in 2002/2003. We all knew there were no nukes. US and Israel wanted regime change in Iraq anyway so they could install puppets and that's exactly what they're doing in Iran.

People will study this period in history and go, "WHY DID NO ONE STOP NETANYAHU AND ISRAEL IN GAZA, IRAN AND THE WIDER MIDDLE EAST? I was actually thinking about just making it MMA too at first, then I watched some MMA fighting and... oh boy. I felt actually embarrassed watching it. I was laughing so hard.

Obviously it requires a lot of skill, I mean no offense to anyone who likes it and those fighters could crush me with their little finger, but... but... no. Not my thing. I couldn't imagine Lee doing that. So I chose to let him use the kind of basic Taijutsu moves that appear in Naruto, which are heavily based on Shaolin Kung Fu, Wing Chun, etc.

Those are martial arts that aren't actually useful in fighting, I know that, but I thought, well, if you add the magical power of chakra into the mix, with a speed boost and extra strength behind punches and kicks + basic MMA moves, I guess that'd work, and it's not like he's supposed to be a champ.

And in the end it's fiction so who cares lol

PS With this many fics out there and a ship so old I suppose it's inevitable there's similarities. I got this idea while listening to Eureka by Sakanaction and reading the lyrics. (There's many translations but I mean that one specifically.)

My GaaLee fic is set in the future, the last Shinobi war has happened centuries ago and the ninja arts and knowledge have almost completely died out.

Most people think it's just legends and the history is embellished, like nobody was actually able to conjure fire out of nowhere or walk on water or jump that high and far, it must've been special weapons or tricks. This got a bit long so continuation under Keep Reading lol

Gaara is a withdrawn university student, traumatized by his abusive upbringing. He's seeing a therapist who's advising him to get out more, meet new people, try new things, so Kankuro drags him along whenever he goes out with his friends (Temari is too busy with her boyfriend Shikamaru) and one time that leads them to a underground MMA fighting event, which one of Kankuro's friends is participating in. (Kankuro had told Gaara it was a university club event, Gaara would've never gone if he had known it was illegal.)

One of the fighters is Lee (surprise!), who gets written off instantly due to his weird looks and not being as bulky as the others. The majority place their bets against him, but Gaara, who hates it when people judge others by their first impression, tells Kankuro that Lee is gonna win against his friend. Kankuro trusts his lil bro and bets on Lee.

Lee does win (big surprise!). He pretty much obliberates his opponent with a fighting style and strength none of the attendees have seen before. Kankuro smells a chance to win some more money and Gaara has an excuse to keep coming along and watch Lee. At some point he starts going alone and, well, eventually they end up talking.

Lee is an orphan, has never met his parents and has never lived with a family, but of course he's his usual optimistic, hard-working self we all love. The reason he is participating in these events is that he needs extra money to just cover basic necessities. He tells Gaara that his fighting style is simply Taijutsu, that the secret behind it is controlling the flow of chakra in the body and that all of the history about ninjas is real and accurate.

(Obviously his Taijutsu skills would be far from what he can do in canon and he also loses matches, so it's not like he's invincible.)

That's pretty much what I got until now. Normally I prefer to stay within the slice of life genre, but I'm thinking about going real funky n crazy, having Lee teach Gaara to feel and control his chakra, which awakens Gaara's powers to control sand. Perhaps he might not be able to control it? Maybe the super secret ninja government comes after him so GaaLee have to flee and more characters join?? Maybe he gets anger issues and crushes Lee's arm and leg like in canon??? No idea, it's not like I'll actually write that far LMAO

If anything like this already exists I apologize, I haven't really looked at any fanfics
