→ Your neighbors back in your family province owned a really cool fishing boat. The sweet couple taught you how to use it so you could help with fishing duties during the summer. However you stumble upon the said boat, which is now (unfortunately) under the management of their oddball of a son. 

warnings: none! except for the fact that I'm vv mid at writing and it's my first time writing in eng so please reduce your expectations to ground level 😭

𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞

You woke up at the crack of dawn to get dressed and ready. It's the summer, and that means you'll be staying at the province! You looked forward to everything the place has to offer, from the fresh air to the salty fragrance of the beach. But one thing you always look forward to is the nice family next door and their cool fishing boat! You can't recall if you still know how to use it. The captain gave you a crash course on how to operate it last summer, but you weren't really able to give it a go yourself. You decided that the first thing that you wanted to do today was to fish!

You see the captain and his wife smiling upon your arrival. They always treated you like their own daughter, greeting you with a warm pot of your favorite soup and a kiss on the forehead. It was always like that, except now something is missing from the usual greetings. Aside from their dog, Connie, there had always been a third figure peeking from behind Mr. Captain, waiting for the right time to jump and chase you around the front porch.

Leehan, the couple's only son wasn't around to welcome you, which was odd, considering that he was always the first one to approach and show you his new fishes or brag about their cool boat. He always trailed closely behind Mr. Captain, carrying his adorable little Connie. You always thought he was a little weird, but that doesn't mean he isn't the sweetest boy you've met.

"I haven't seen him since this morning! that boy ran out the door as soon as he finished eating, I don't even know anymore," Mr. Captain sighed. You finished eating and went out to look for Leehan.

"Han?" you called out. You went out to the sand, but you couldn't find him anywhere! You then saw Riwoo, the kid who always carried around a camera and small packets of bird food to feed the gulls.

"Riwoo!" You waved at him. He wore a beach hat with a wide rim, covered in sand and seaweeds.

"Y/n!" He waved back. Usually, when Riwoo is around, a few steps behind him is Woonhak. You didn't even need to make an effort to see Woonhak, who was clearly behind the mango tree. No wonder he always lost during hide and seek games, because he thought that if he can't see you, then you can't see him either, and the constant peeking and giggling gave him away.

"Boo!" You tapped at Hak's shoulder. He scrambled to hide his phone, sliding it in the pockets of his shorts. "Hey Y/n, didn't see you there, ha...ha." He chuckled nervously. You were starting to think that he was hiding something. You looked behind him.

"Are you okay? Are you looking for something?"

"Nothing, thought you were hiding an insect of any kind to shove to my face. "

Woonhak laughed at your response. But it was true, he was indeed thinking of scaring you with a fake plastic lizard.

Still no sign of Leehan. You figured that he's probably with Taesan at their favourite usual spot: the docks.

→ zombies were always known as brutal, vile creatures. You always thought they were gross and scary, especially having to instantly pulverize every zombie that comes your way can be sickening to even think of. But when you were greeted by an unwanted visitor, it didn't seem too bad. After all, what could go so wrong with a girl and a zombie?

warnings: zombie anton appears! matthew(zb1) gets bitten, mentions of knives (and a shovel) I'm vv mid at writing and it's my first time writing in eng so please reduce your expectations to ground level 😭

The house still smelled like fresh sealant, the stinging smell making you nauseous. You decided to step outside until the smell subsides. You just moved here, in the middle of nowhere, in a simple house. The air is fresh, the surroundings are quiet and peaceful. Far from the pressure of a world that isn't quite far fledged from what you call a dystopian society. Perhaps this was what your mind and body needed, a break.

You looked around, seeing a man step out of the door from the house next to you. He is large and muscular, and with an intimidating aura attached to him, but he's probably just a few years older than you. Running behind him is a white maltese puppy, which he lifts up to accompany him while...watering plants? You giggled, with how such a man had an unexpected hobby. He smiled as the puppy, as he puts her down, only for the puppy to run.

...

The adorable puppy ran to you and sat on your lap. The man panicked when he looked to see that his puppy was gone.

"Sir?" you called for him with the puppy on your arms.

"There you are!" He smiled as you handed him the puppy.

"Mika, you little," he scolded at the dog.

"I'm very sorry, thank you for bringing her back." he bows.

"It's okay! She's very adorable, I don't find it in me to be upset with her."

He chuckled. "Are you new here? I think I haven't seen you before."

"Um, yes, I live," you pointed at your house, "there! I just moved the other day, so...yeah."

"I'm Matthew," He extended his arm.

"Y/n, nice to meet you" You smiled up at him.

You talked for a bit, he asked you if you needed any help in moving and told you that he'll be there if you need any help.

The day was quick, but you felt much more nicer. You were at a nice place, with a nice neighbor, and nice little house, nothing could go wrong.

...

12:01 am

You can't sleep, seriously. You did everything you could. You drank milk, watched a boring show, recited the multiplication table, but you still kept on tossing and turning.

Then you heard a shriek, followed by a barking dog.

You immediately rose up, because the screams of horror, without a doubt, belong to Matthew.

You grab your mini shovel and slip a kitchen knife in the pocket of your nightgown. You quickly but quietly, make your way to Matthew's garage, peeking in the small steel windows from up his appliance shelves. Matthew was standing at the very corner of the garage, next to his car. Behind him is Mika, who keeps on barking at the trespasser.

"Who the fuck are you? How did you get in here?" Matthew screamed.

No response.

You turn your head to find the trespasser. He was a boy in ragged clothing, with disheveled hair and and awkward stance. He walked weirdly and awfully slow, groaning with every move of a muscle.

Matthew grabs a baseball bat and attacks the trespasser. He hits the boy with a clean shot to the head.

Unscathed.

You swore you saw the boy's head twist, but the way he swings it back to normal made you question if you were just seeing things.

It all happened so fast. Your hand flew to your mouth when the boy suddenly lunges at Matthew, his teeth sinking in the arm Matthew used to shield himself. The dog bites the boy's toe, making him let go of the arm. Matthew manages to get out of the garage. You ran to the entrance to help Matthew pull down the rolls. The boy noticed what you two were doing, and limps towards the entrance. You pulled down the rolls with Matthew's help until you manage to shut him in.

You breathed heavily.

"Fuck," Matthew sighed. You look over at the man writhing in pain beside you. Thankfully, the cut wasn't that deep, the boy immediately let go when Mika bit him. "Thought I was going to be out for a minute there." He chuckled, before looking at you. "Thanks."

"No problem, but it should be this little baby you're thanking." You patted Mika.

Matthew walked up to the steel window to check up on the boy. I followed him and peeked form the corner.

"What...the fuck is that?" The boy just sat on a corner, lightly hissing while twisting his head. Now that I look at him, he had an unusual amount of veins on his neck up to his head. His lips were cracked, and his skin is n a pale shade of white and purple. Could it be...

"You know what this guy reminds me of? He looks like he walked out of 'The Walking Dead' for fuck's sake." Matthew remarked.

The boy looked up at you, his eyes were strangely human, but it was a dark shade of gray. He tilts his head to the side and opens his mouth, revealing a purple tongue.

A zombie?

💭: hi gais!! the idea came to me while I was watching the odd family and I was debating whether I should make this inspired by tof or disney's zombies bcs I LOVE both films but I decided to write this one first :') also, this isn't really a significant part, i jst dk how to begin this series so you can skip to part 1. But if you want to know more about the mc (you!) then definitely recommend reading this first!

What if the world was to plunge to the bottom, finally succumbing to the deadly virus that turns human beings into brainless, brutal, flesh eating monsters. such scenarios kept yo up at night. The idea of a dead man rising to their grave just to hunt and feed on functioning human brains has always terrified you. you always thought of the living conditions, the lack of food, water, and all that. but along with the concept of zombies is the concept of a half-zombie. They are the undead, or atleast half-dead. as you grew up, with your fear of zombies came a strange fascination to it.

Among the plethora of z-films that featured blood baths and a ferrocious amount of unwanted bites to the head, there were light, comedic z-films with a common trope: Romance.

It usually features a half-zombie, or a half-dead. Rare species of the undead that have the ability to recognize humans and restrain their appetite. You always wondered what their love interest saw in them, even thinking of giving them a kiss after seeing them mutilate and bite someone's limbs off. It was bizarre, but perhaps it's the irony of the situation that made you feel less scared of them. Zombies are gross, gooey creatures with not a single coherent thought, why would you even think of falling in love with one?

You slowly close your laptop after finishing all the work, and decided to lay back and find a nice show to watch. You grab on to your blanket, and click on a light, relaxing show. Growing up with a fascination for monster macabre can be mind-twisting, so consuming light and fun media once in while is refreshing. You were watching a film where a magic powder dust from a power petal turns any person who inhales it into a cat. It was sort of like an alarming potential apocalypse if you squint, but it happened only within the borders of a small town, unnoticed by the world. You think back, what if something like that were to happen in the real world? Who would be the first ones to notice? For sure it would be those who have keen eyes and a strong intuition, like the film's hero. But then again, there is no way something like that could happen in real life.

You are moving soon, to a place much more peaceful than where you are now, perhaps you can clear your mind, free from unwanted thoughts, or even more—unwanted memories.
