How can anyone see the actions of Comfrey Macleod and say "this is a character who doesn't care". She has talked about her old friends when they weren't even there more times than you can count on one hand. "Monty knows the way", "I miss her more than I can say", "Van, Monty, Junker, Daisuke, I'm sorry. I never should have attempted it without you". Leaving records of the Zephyr in the book store, naming her new ship after the old one. And even all the times when she is obviously flawed, the problem IS that she cares. She lashes out when things fall apart with Monty, she won't let Marya kill herself fighting Straka, she works on preventing Van's curse from killing her, she refuses to ever slow down or give up on a mission as her ruthless focus tears down people around her and she becomes unrecognisable to the people who once knew her best. I'll give you this, she sure as hell doesn't WANT to care, she went to another world without them, but she as a character is DRIVEN by how PAINFULLY strongly she cares.
