Riz has spent this whole season, struggling so much and trying so hard to squeeze blood from a stone, to be in a dozen places at once, to stay afloat, to secure his future, to save the world (again), barely having time to spend with his mom and literally having to be in hell so he can have a few blessed minutes to chat with his murdered father about work (which yes, is an act of love when a Gukgak is doing it but God, he's so tired).
And Kipperlilly is watching this kid, who is taking stress tokens for his friends even though he's at capacity himself, whose blood is more coffee than anything else at this point because you can't solve problems when you're asleep, who signed up for an exam with a 100% mortality rate for lack of other viable options, and saying to herself, "You lucky bastard. It's not fair."

kipperlilly: having a tragic family backstory is an unfair advantage against people with regular parents!
*cut to The Seven who all have the normalest parents and family ever and yet they all still became a prominent and popular and successful adventuring party*

Give it up for the Bad Kids at level 14!
After acing the Last Stand and their junior year, the Bad Kids have gotten a well-deserved level up to 14! Let's see what's in store for them. (As always, my previous recaps for levels 11, 12, and 13 can be found at these links!)
Adaine: Wizard 14. Adaine learns two new 1st-7th level spells (in addition to whatever she's learned from her downtime rolls, which as of this episode is MANY new spells). She also gets her final subclass feature, Greater Portent, which lets her roll 3 portents every long rest (improved from 2). She can also now prepare 19 spells a day (previously 18).
Fabian: Fighter 6/Bard 8 (was Fighter 6/Bard 7). Fabian gets a second 4th-level spell slot and learns a new 1st-4th level spell. In addition, he's increased his charisma by 2, taking it to 20--he is now the most dexterous and most charismatic you can be without magical help! Maximum Legend indeed. With this increase, his modifier goes up to +5, and his spell save DC, attack bonus, and all CHA-based skills (Deception, Intimidation, Performance, Persuasion) go up by one. He can also now use Bardic Inspiration 5 times per short rest, improved from 4.
Fig: Bard 10/Paladin 3/Warlock 1 (was Bard 10/Paladin 2/Warlock 1). Fig has reached her paladin Sacred Oath subclass! We don't know which it is yet (although many people have speculated Devotion), but it will include access to two new spells specific to her oath and two Channel Divinity options, which she can use once per short or long rest. I believe her spell slots remain the same due to multiclass shenanigans, but please correct me if I got that wrong. She also gets Divine Health, which makes her immune to disease.
Gorgug: Barbarian 5/Artificer 9 (was Barbarian 6/Artificer 7). Gorgug continues to swap around barbarian and artificer levels! With this change, he loses Mindless Rage (so he can now be charmed or frightened while raging) and gains an unknown feat, access to 3rd level spells and two 3rd-level spell slots, and an unknown Barbificer subclass feature. (EDIT: I had forgotten he's not a Battle Smith anymore; thanks to @lookin-reproachfully for reminding me!)
Kristen: Cleric 14. Her Destroy Undead ability can now destroy undead creatures of CR3 or lower on a failed save, which includes ghasts, ghouls, poltergeists, and skeletons, although there are a lot of undead Brennan could throw at them. She can also now prepare 19 spells a day (previously 18).
Riz: Rogue 14. We saw Riz put his new feature, Blindsense, to great use this episode! He is now aware of any hidden or invisible creatures within 10 feet of him, as long as he can hear. (Hopefully he can use that against Kipperlilly too…) He also learns one new 1st-3rd level spell, which can be a Wizard spell from any school.
And across the board, everyone's HP goes up and they get another hit die!
One little bonus--this episode, we discovered Kipperlilly is a Mastermind Rogue. An ability of hers that might come in handy is Master of Intrigue--if she has observed a creature for 1 minute, she can "unerringly mimic" their speech patterns and accent. I'll let you all speculate on what she might do with that, and I'll see you all if/when we hit level 15.

So kipperlily wanted Lucy to change her god, and thats where she lost her on the whole resurrect the rage and conquest god quest. Lucy doesnt want to change her god, so when they all drink the koolaid or rat poison (im theorizing that kipperlilly was the one who organized all of them dying and being resurrected. Poison is just such a rogue thing) Lucy chooses not to be resurrected bc she’s loyal to her original ancestoral god. Then Yolanda badgood wouldn’t change her god either, something we did se buddy do though. Kipperlilly’s weakness has been clerics who wont change their god, and it’s put a wrench in her plans. Kristen, who after identity crisis after identity crisis wont change her god, is not only her rival but hitting her right where it matters.
God I love clerics, fav class

“You have to honor the cock.” — Brian Murphy, 2024

Lucy Fostblade keeps being more and more doomed by the narrative as we go on.
She went to the mountains of chaos with her friend where all of them were introduced to this rage god where they went with a teacher they trusted. She was probably told this was Ruvina's sibling. Someone who probably made her adopt the domain of sorrow along with winter experiencing her siblings loss more deeply.
She decided to help. Handed in papers with a name she could not yet read in hopes of sharing some of the burden of this sorrow with a god she truly cared about. But the only way to come back as a believer of the rage god was to die.
Only in death did she realise that this is not the sibling her god loved. This is not the sibling she wanted to bring back. This is not the sibling who will bring her solace. So she denied revival. She accepted death because she knew that to not will mean more pain to Ruvina. She decided to stay in purgatory, not reuniting with her or coming back, until a girl in a tie-dye shirt allowing them a place with Cassandra. That too with a power of a god she loved and was struggling as well.
And yet. She has to watch as her friends fight and fight and fight getting angrier by the second to revive a tainted version of dawn that she died to keep in bay.
She's so tragic my heart aches

So Kipperlilly's hatred towards Riz is the fantasy equivalent of "they have it easier because of diversity" white people type speech. He has an unfair avantage because his dad is dead so it makes him better??
Her saying "egg on my face for wanting something" pisses me off even more. Saying it to Kristen whose parents kicked her out just for being gay and who wants nothing more than to just belong . All comes from the fact that her own parents don't suck? Most of The Bad Kids' suffering has been dealt at the hand of their parents. Their journey has been them succeeding in spite of all of their trauma and set backs. Adaine's parents were literally hunting her down during sophomore year while on a quest to save the world during Tbk's vacation!
You can be a good adventurer without having evil or dead parents. We can literally take The Seven as an example they had normal families with normal family issues and yet they're great at what they do.
The Bad Kids whole thing started because Riz wanted to save his baby sitter and help the girls that were kidnapped. He didn't even know Kalvaxus killed his dad so he didn't even do it out of revenge in the first place.
Your backgrounds don't define you or your capabilities, your choices do. After everything, they chose to be kind and helpful which led them to become who they are. She was blinded by jealousy she chose to ignore that and hate them for it and their "unfair advantage".

The fact that Sklonda casually knows about the Society of Shadows retroactively makes Penny's whole dilemma in the Seven and all of Laertes' cloak and dagger shenanigans retroactively super funny. Like, she's having a whole existential crisis about never seeing her friends again and he's disguising himself as a scarecrow and a wooden duck and Sklonda is just like, huge air quotes, yeah the "SECRET SOCIETY".

Kipperlilly is ridiculous and petty for many reasons but her thinking that Riz losing his father at a young age dooming him and his mom to grieve and struggle financially for years is an "advantage on being an adventurer" just shows how little of an adventurer she is herself.
If that was true that Riz had an advantage for having his dad connected in conspiracies then Kristen wouldn't have ever gotten to the point where she is now. Her parents were normal and boring as fuck and they also sucked majorly, and none of that stopped Kristen from going out there and making a name for herself and becoming one of the most gifted clerics in the world. I think that as much as she's jealous of Riz, she's angry at Kristen because Kristen is proof that her excuses don't mean a thing and she can't hide behind them to avoid being a decent adventurer and actually pursuing greatness on her own accord.

Oh my god. Kipperlilly wasn’t trying to get the Bad Kids permanently killed. She was trying to get them resurrected by Ankarna.
