Here’s a version without Lear standing in front of the portrait.

I'm a little annoyed with some things not coming out like I had hoped. I had wanted him to be turning towards the painting, but I figured it would be a bit too difficult with my current skill level. I had wanted it to be set at night, but I colored it all in and attempting to change it to night colors led to me getting frustrated that it didn't quite look right, as well as the details on the outside wood accidentally being on the same layer as the base color, so major color changes weren't going to happen. It's just late afternoon or something I guess. I am not really good with wooden textures and this is decent so redoing it would be a pain. The eyes are not quite how they are in my head. I kind of see them looking kind of like the crystals in area zero, only a bit more purple. Crystalline I suppose they could be described. I attempted that but not too thrilled with the result. I do like the eye color I gave Lear's father though. It was on a whim in the coloring and it actually goes really well with the reasoning I have for Lear always wearing his glasses. Makes it just a bit more sad and that is fun to me. I don't really have a proper design for little Lear so I just made his hair a bit shorter. I kind of want to get a proper design for it, but I don't think I'll be drawing him as a child too often right now so maybe later I guess.

A small misclick lead to this cursed version. I would put it under a second read more but I don't think you can do that. Enjoy it as it made my chuckle when it happened.

Little Splatoon sketchbook art dump!

Here is a Pearl I drew several months ago. I believe I dubbed it “cool Pearl” or something close to that.

Here’s a Marina I did a few weeks ago.

Here’s an octoling form for smollusk drawn around the same time as Pearl.

And two adult forms drawn around the same time as the Marina drawing.

In my Splatoon world, I think that smollusk would slide between genders and presentations. Plenty of time to explore all that when you’re immortal. I think that she would go by Molly when femme because it’s shorter. Not sure what he would have as a nickname when masc. My adult smollusk is a bit flamboyant I think. Not entirely sure though as I usually only think of it’s adult version when it would be 100 years from the main story and most of the rest of the cast is dead by then, not as fun to think about as the current times.

While I was working on this draft, it became 10th anniversary of Splatoon. Here is a quick doodle I did to celebrate, featuring my cap3 and neo3.

Finally, 4!

She mains dualies. She is a popular movie/tv star. She cannot remember anything at all before the splatoon 2 tutorial no matter how hard she tries. She is an actual princess. She has it all! I jest, but she has a fun concept in my opinion. An octoling, turned into a squid and having no memories from before. How would her desire to know her past affect her desire to live as she is now?

Fun fact I wasn’t able to fit on the ref sheet, when she looses color such as if she is close to death, the scars from her being turned into an inkling can be seen since her body sees them as not important to be hiding when she needs resources elsewhere.

I will have to get on with my 3s soon to add them as well.

I think she is quite fun. She is a roller main! She works very hard at what she does.
