Nintendo may hand out C&Ds like candy, but the last time they sued someone specifically over patents was back in 2017 to stop another game developer from stomping over even smaller devs.
While Nintendo did ultimately win, it still took them around 2 years. I'm sure that unless Palworld did something egregiously stupid like Yuzu did, this case will probably take just as long and we won't get all the details until afterwards.

If any of y’all didn’t know, there’s a free online library, aka
https://openlibrary.org/
and I found like, twelve ebooks I’ve been wanting to read on there, and blasted through like three of them during the course of a boring-ass shift.

In the never-ending quest to alleviate my migraines, I bought a special angled pillow that lets you sleep on your side while your arm just kind of hangs through a whole in the middle. I did this because I’m a left-sided sleeper, always have been.
Until my neck subluxated and now I can’t sleep on that side without compressing some vital nerves and blood arteries. I also can’t sleep on my back right now because the pressure compresses my occipital nerve. Basically sleeping has been a nightmare recently, but that’s not the point of this post.
The point was I brought this up in physical therapy to talk about how great this pillow is because I can now sleep on my right side without the stupid thing going numb or waking me up because it hurts. And my PT was like wow, great! How did you sleep on your left side for so long without it being an issue?
And I said, oh that’s easy. I just tuck that shoulder out of the way.
And she said, ...what?
And I said, yeah, I just tuck it out the way. Not like my right shoulder. That one doesn’t move as well. It just hurts, I think there’s something wrong with it.
And my physical therapist asked me to demonstrate what I mean when I say I ‘tuck my shoulder out of the way,’ and haha, you’re never going to believe this, turns out I’ve just been casually pulling my left shoulder out of the socket for, oh, let’s see, 30 years? And then napping on it like hmmnm yess comfy.
Anyway. I looked up from my demonstration and my physical therapist was making this face:

This might be an unpopular opinion but in regards to AI, I feel like a lot of people who are anti AI chatbots and such don't really get how much it is a situation of we've opened Pandora's box and now it likely won't be able to be closed.
Don't get me wrong most criticism of AI models are very much genuinely correct on its effects that's been having on several different fields. But in a way, at least when it comes to academic spaces. I feel like some criticisms have the same energy as back when professors told you you couldn't use online sources.
Now the effects ai models have had in the lack critical thinking skills of the newer populations of students. Or how it's a plagiarism nightmare due to the way they are designed. Not to mention how it just makes shit up at times.
But unfortunately we have no reliable way to check whether someone used and ai tool in a reliable way. Since we have found said models are very accurate in replicating the passive voice used in academia. So professors have been reactionary to the students use of it, woth good reason. Except for the false positives, especially from older professionals who are not as tech savy as the younger generations.
Outright banning doesn't work due to the aforementioned. As people will find loopholes just like how we did with other new technologies that were banned in the classroom and professional work.
I don't know, I feel like we should be able to reach a middle point in the matter. And some of these technologies when used as tools instead of replacement maybe we could find some good uses?
Like I said Im not pro-ai in general. However not being for something doesn't mean one can't see when said thing seems to be becoming another part of life
(Also these opinion are on text based ai. Ai imagine generation is whole different thing to tackle)

Since the OP made their post unrebloggable (and blocked me. Both actions they are well in with their right to do)
I'm going to make my response it's own post because I think the point is important
-
As someone who is autistic and has BPD and CPTSD and loads of trauma yes you sometimes need to change how you interact with others to keep people around
When I was 13 I hit the few friends I had when I was angry
I had to change that in order to keep those friendships
When I was in my early 20s if I was losing an disagreement with my husband I would threaten to kill myself. My husband told me it hurt him and was cruel and manipulative behaviour, because it was.
So I worked hard to change that to keep my relationship
It's easy to say "I shouldn't have to change for others" and that's true to an extent. You shouldn't change your interests or passions or dim your light. And you should have space to be imperfect and flawed and not have to pretend your ugly bits aren't real. But if something you are doing it causing other people harm you kinda need to change that.
That's called "living in a society"
People adapt to each other and make space for each other in their lives. You adapt to them and they adapt to you
You start being more diligent about throwing away the empty toilet roll because it really bothers them. They start warning you before they run the blender because you hate loud noises
I stopped threatening to kill myself because I was mad I was losing an argument and my husband stopped being so vocally judgemental amount media he personally dislikes
There is a certain type of person who heard the phrase "your emotions are valid" and took that to mean "my emotional reactions and my behaviour are always objectively correct because my emotions are valid and if you have an emotional response or react to what I'm doing negatively then you are wrong and you can't be hurt because my emotions are valid"
And that's a recipe for disaster
Your emotions are valid to feel. They are how you feel and there are reasons you feel the way you do
However, your reactions and behaviour are something you can learn to control and can be irrational
We live in a society and we as people change each other as we interact and that isn't necessarily a bad thing

ok but like. there are two different types of privilege. there's type a "everybody should have this, but some people don't" and type b "nobody should have this, but some people do"
there's having parents who can pay for your application to any college, and then there's having parents who can bribe your way into any college. there's owning your own home, and then there's owning 50 houses and getting rich off hoarding a vital resource. there's not fearing for your life whenever cops are around, and then there's being the cop and being allowed to murder anyone at any time.
idk i just feel like that's an important distinction to make.

Deeply fascinated by the people who heard rightful criticism of generative AI (i.e. chatgpt etc) and decided all machine learning is evil or something. You sound like a scifi villain. You sound like the character who's wrong on an episode of star trek. That's not how this works

ok memes aside i have some insight for the americans tonight as a brazilian
we had a similar situation a few years ago, our own far right asshole was stabbed at a rally and survived. guess what? the right organised and rallied behind it, he got martyred without dying. they turned that event into some divine-esque thing it was nuts. our political climate at the time was perfect for a far right storm, and lo and behold he got elected
it doesn't take a political scientist to see the republicans are about to do the exact same thing so stay vigilant, this is gonna boost his numbers more than you think

I cannot believe there's absolutely no way to watch free shows and movies anymore, there are too many paid streaming platforms and pirating websites have viruses and ads preventing you from watching it uninterrupted((.)) id rather follow the rules and purchase media moving forward because it is too inconvenient. Seriously, free and no ads or viruses with 1080p streaming is DEAD.

A lot of ppl think that “love” is enough to raise a happy child and that’s not true. It also requires emotional maturity and financial stability but they don’t like hearing that because it changes their idea of a miracle that happens to them into a conscious decision that requires personal responsibility.

It's really fucked up when you treat characters like people and people like characters.
