the Dekusquad is the very image autism
it kinda hit me a while back that the dekusquad collectively are the quintessential image of autism.
Midoriya is the the most stereotypical image of a special interest i've ever seen. his incessant documentation and categorizing of quirks and heroes is high key autistic behavior, and the sheer amount of time he can go on talking about a subject without pause is the biggest mood there is.
Iida's reliance on rules and routine, which seems to be very important to him on a personal level, not just being a goody two shoes, is also quite autistic. his constant arm movements are quite stimmy (like that one scene of him brushing his teeth).
Uraraka represents sensory issues. using her quirk is overstimulating for her, and she uses specialised garments on her hero uniform to regulate herself, and if she doesn't she get overstimulated presented as nausia.
Tsuyu's way of standing and the way she holds herself and her arms, are notable. also 'kero' is and excellent vocal stim and i encourage everyone to use it constantly. she's also very blunt and straightforward, like when she inadvertently roasts Bakugou on the bus to the USJ.
Todoroki is social and communication stuff. it doesn't seem to come naturally to him. for example he seems to have a hard time intuiting what bakugou, who never hold back his emotions, is feeling based on his tone of voice an expression. or like when Mt Lady tries to interview him and he takes her words literally because she won't just say what she means. he doesn't really express his emotions on his face the same way the other characters do. like in the ova, everyone said his laughter seemed weird and stilted compared to the others. also soba is his favorite safe food.

Flower language for Mikey
In chapter 270, the door of TR's secrets was opened, and also revealed the heartbreaking state of Manjiro, who eventually passed away.
Shinichiro gave a proper funeral for his precious little brother, dedicating a sea of flowers to him, expressing his feelings for Mikey.
Among the floral composition we can see orchids, roses, lilies, gypsophila and several gentian flowers.
Tumblr media
First of all, it should be noted that funerals in Japan are Shinto with elements of Buddhism. And they are characterized by the use of colors of calm shades and white.
For funerals in Japan, lilies, orchids and chrysanthemums are used, but you can also choose other flowers that comply with norms and traditions.
Flowers for funerals are of great importance, there are certain rules for giving/offering them that should be followed.
1. Lilies
Lilies have a worldwide meaning of "purity and innocence". But, besides this, there is the meaning of “dignity, greatness”, which originates from the 3rd millennium BC. in the form of a royal lily emblem.
The meaning of "innocence" lily began to acquire with the spread of Christianity. Therefore, you can find images of Christ among the lilies or the identification of the Virgin Mary with an immaculate lily.
2. Gypsophila
Gypsophila in the language of flowers means "innocence and purity", "divinity" and "eternal love". The meaning of "eternal love" dates back to Victorian England, where gypsophila was used in wedding bouquets. This flower has an informal name, "baby's breath", which may refer to the child's chastity.
3. Roses
These are one of the most classic colors. But the bottom line is that roses were not used for funerals in Japan before, and only in recent years have they begun to be used.
For roses, there is one common meaning “eternal love”.
4. Orchid
A luxurious and expensive flower that is used in Japan at the funerals of influential or wealthy people.
Orchid is the queen of flowers, meaning “flight of happiness”, “pure love”, “tender memories”.
5. Gentian
Gentian is an autumn flower that dilutes the faded landscape with purple, is a medicinal and ornamental plant. The flower means “I love you when you are sad” and “sincere love”.
The flowers that surround Mikey are very diverse and beautiful.
An innocent and pure person, like a child, this is how Manjiro Sano originally appeared before our eyes. He does what he likes, takes offense if there is no flag in his children's dinner, makes friends only with those who are interesting to him and easily influenced by others.
And the very greatness of Manjiro is immortalized in flowers. It's like he's not dead, but just sleeping on a flower bed. Arrogant and superior. Sets high goals for himself and leads the people like a brilliant king.
The flowers show all of Shin's great love for his little brother, as a symbol of beautiful and sincere love. After all, Shinichiro loves Manjiro, and Manjiro loves Shinichiro. They cannot live without each other and suffer when they are alone.
As flowers grow from the earth, so love is born from nature.

I have a deep and firmly held belief that the “dark impulses” Mikey suffers from were a childs/teens best way of describing what was very likely an undiagnosed mental illness.
Stay with me here:
In a timeline where Mikey did not enter a vegetative state and become wheelchair bound, he was still a kid with a very blended family who lost his parents and was raised by his grandfather and, by extension, his older brother. Say what you want about his parents, we don’t ever truly get a deeper explanation for him and Emma having the same dad but different mothers, but regardless, he still went through something traumatic by losing them at a young age.
Additional to this, the “curse” of the dark impulses is said to have also affected Kazutora via his proximity to Mikey (I believe?). Either way, that doesn’t entirely make sense because why then did his dark impulses not spread to Baji, Draken, Mitsuya, etc., who were closer to him for longer than Kazutora was. Beyond this, we all know what Kazutora went through at home through the duration of his adolescent years, and he surely did not receive ideal treatment as a delinquent in juvie after killing Shinichiro.
Next, we have the fact that in most cases, each of the Toman founders have either absent or completely uninvolved parents. Baji’s mom is probably the only mother who’s ever really mentioned besides Kazutora’s parents in more than a passing manner. She was involved enough in her son’s life to be emotional over his bad grades, and he cared enough to not want to make her cry again, but in every other backstory, the parental involvement is a fleeting concept at best.
With Mikey being raised by Shin and his grandpa, and a clear lack of any form of therapeutic outlet outside of beating the shit out of other kids in the same age range, it’s likely that poor mental health, angry outbursts and barely controllable urges to hurt others (ie basically curb stomping Sanzu) would feel like a curse to Mikey. Breaking down so thoroughly after taking someone’s life that you endure a post-traumatic response that makes you feel like you need to then kill your victim's brother would feel like a curse to Kazutora.
Draken never attracted the “curse” because despite his less than ideal upbringing, he seemed to carry the weight of his trauma a lot better, and had friends in the girls he grew up with in the brothel, which he probably was able to confide in, as well as finding purpose in being the voice of reason to the other founders, and especially to Mikey. Mitsuya had a family to focus on, and even said he wanted to become a delinquent who still cared for his sisters. Per the spin-off, we see that Baji had a mom who gave a shit, and while he was wild and impulsive externally, he had a critical and calculating mind that likely aided in sifting through a lot of the trauma he endured after Shinichiro’s death.
This is life through the eyes of fifteen year old kids whose parents (if they even had any) never looked close enough at their own kids to see they might need professional help. They didn’t have the language nor knowledge to explain what was going on inside. Being "cursed" with dark and uncontrollable impulses to hurt others probably felt like the most accurate description to Mikey, and maybe even to Shinichiro who lacked the very same support and knowledge that his younger brother did.

Takeomi, Self-Esteem and Denial (and more)
@raizelswitch, thank you for waiting!
TL;DR : I want a BD spin-off and I want it from Takeomi’s POV even though he’d be such an unreliable narrator (and like that we could also have a Akashi siblings spin-off, two birds, one stone). Takeomi has a lot of issues and making him raise children and naming him vice captain was a bad idea since it only made things worse. He had developed both an inferiority and superiority complex to cope. And we were robbed of any interaction between him and Inui, the other famous ‘can’t let go of Black Dragon even after x years’ character.
Who wants to read about 17,000 words about Takeomi (I didn’t expect to write this much, what the heck)? Clearly not Tumblr because I spent way too much time having to reorder this post, it mixed it all up everytime ! It also refused to post it for hours
The translations of Wakasa’s and Benkei’s ‘a day in his life’ as well as Takeomi’s failure story come from the Twitter user RanHaruchiyo
I feel like I made a few mistakes so there : English is not my native language, I apologize if some sentences don’t make sense. Sorry for any type of typos as well.
I referred to the past (beside the final timeline) as ‘canon-timeline’ several times because I had no clue how to name it. It’s not the futures, it’s not the original or final timeline, it’s… it’s the past until the final timeline comes in.
When you reach the top – the only way is down. (and up and down…)
Let’s get started with something very quick – Takeomi was created to be the exact opposite of Shinichiro. And when you’re the exact opposite of a character who’s perfectly good, loved by everyone (other characters and fans alike), then the writer uses you to be bad. Not necessarily evil - Takeomi isn’t evil - but ‘not good’.

All of us, at least once, have wondered why Haru had a katana… What brought him to pick it as his weapon of choice in most timelines?
Well. I wrote a whole essay about this bdjdbdjd Enjoy!

I already liked the Haitanis because of their dynamic, and their history with each of the gangs is so interesting to me too, but this was the moment that catapulted Ran Haitani even further up my list of Tokyo Revengers faves.
To start, the Tenjiku arc made me see the Haitanis differently, and it started during their fight with Angry and Hakkai as Ran and Rindou’s dynamic really started to shine. We got a taste of Rindou’s resentment at being in his brother’s shadow during the start of the arc when they fought Mitsuya, but it really came out in the Angry/Hakkai fight with Rindou understanding them because of his role as the youngest but also fighting hard because he’s sick of being underestimated as the youngest.
It’s also in that battle that Ran’s role as the older bro comes out and we see how he is with Rindou when they’re not on top as the strongest and when shit gets serious. (It’s also when my appreciation of him as a character really solidified but I digress). Ran could tell Angry was dangerous and tried to stop Rindou to protect him but it was too late, his brother charged and got knocked out and he followed shortly after. Before that, even as they were fighting together, Ran’s role as the level-headed older bro showed in his fight style, taking control so Rindou can fight without trouble as headstrong as he wants because he will be there to cover his six.
Later, Ran tries to stop Rindou twice, Rindou goes down, and he screams for his brother and rushes into defense mode before he’s knocked out too. We already knew, but it’s reinforced in this arc that Ran’s highest priority is Rindou and he will take care of his brother above all else.
(Side note: I love how Wakui gives us duos who as intense and dangerous as they are, have that loyalty and heart, and I love how we see that in Ran’s concern for Rindou.)
Speaking of heart, this brings me back to the end of the Tenjiku battle when Ran closes Izana and Kakucho’s eyes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rindou watched as Ran crouched over their bodies, pays his respects, and closes their eyes, and a few things struck me about this moment. It’s already a heartbreaking moment and to have this follow and to have someone like Ran pay his respects this way, it’s so poignant it made me tear up when I read it.
I also immediately had the thought that Ran’s likely done this before, and Rindou’s likely witnessed him do this before. Rindou watched him go and didn’t even question what he was about to do, which (given their status in as delinquents and their ascent as the brothers who have control of Roppongi) reinforced the thought that the two are sadly not strangers to the death of their fellow members.
Perhaps this is a ritual Rindou’s familiar with Ran doing when it comes to losing their members, perhaps Ran did this back when they lost one or both of their parents or whoever raised them before they were on their own—either way, this moment of heart and respect is something Ran felt compelled to say a few words and close their eyes and I love that he did. It helped give closure to the fight and offered a moment for all of us to take a moment too and say goodbye to Izana and Kakucho (at the time, at least we thought!)
idk I’m rambling but I love this moment in the Tenjiku arc, and appreciate that it was Ran who did it and how it highlighted how heavy this moment was for everyone involved and how these characters care about each other whether they’re brothers by blood, Tenjiku, or Toman in this delinquent life they live.

"But don't let its beauty fool you. This plant can be processed into a powerful neurotoxin which can cause near permanent madness unless treated!"
Professor Calculus, upon developing a state-of-the-art automated hydroponics and pesticides delivery system, has been invited to judge a prestigious international flower show at the largest botanical garden in Belgium.
Botany experts and amateurs from around the world attend - Professor Zalamea is there to showcase his bizarre genetically modified bioluminescent blue oranges, Nash is displaying some of his explorations into living sculpture, and Castafiore is geared up to perform in the evening. Most controversially of all, Professor Fang Hsi Ying, a world leading expert on mental health, is showcasing his research on the Rajaijah plant, a plant historically used to produce madness poison.
It's this exhibit that causes a stir at the event. Security is on high alert. After the poison was used a few years ago in several high profile drug smuggling cases that were embroiled in politics, the plant is anticipated to be a subject of fear and Orientalism. Protestors calling for its destruction flock the event, and there are rumours of a plot to steal the rare plant. The organisers hope that the controversy will generate ticket sales and revenue.
Tintin and Chang are there to report on the goings on, having just confessed their feelings for each other. They're not sure what they are just yet - but even without a madness poison, Tintin's head is in a spin!
I had the idea to bring back Rajaijah juice for some time and was intially going to set it at a garden party, but I received this message from anon some time ago:
Tumblr media
And I just loved the Drama of a botanical garden a whole lot more!
Because of the time it takes for me to make stuff and the planning that goes into my posts I do take a very long time to respond to messages, and sometimes multiple people send similar messages anticipating stuff I already have planned, so if I come across as standoffish I apologise, I just have a lot on my plate (by my own design tbh)!
I love every message I receive, I started this blog intending to respond to every message but that's becoming unrealistic ;_; I keep your messages to read back whenever I need motivation, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you if you've sent me an ask!
