Lithography prints from back in February. I loved this process and want to explore it further.

Came across this documentary whilst researching "the public house". This reminds me of the pub I used to work in as a teenager.

The Swan Inn near Seatown, Devon. We went in here whilst driving back from a friend’s wedding at the weekend. They were open early for a walk in group, so we stopped for a tourist priced orange juice. The softest Devon accents filled the morning sun lit bar of this we’ll used pub.

Went to Devon for a wedding this weekend. Stopped off in Lyme Regis on the way home. Stopped in a couple of pubs. This one had the best view.

Whilst researching an idea from the posotivity quotes, I looked into the idea of the “comodification of happiness”.
This meal replacment product gives me the creeps. Soylent Green anyone?
In part of its advertising it refers to evolution and how in the future humans will sculpt their nutrition for optimum performance (or something like that) , almost refering to “real” food as being arcaic and only for the sensorally glutonous.
The bottom picture, I used a section of, and used it as the back ground for the “dont die” hospital baloon page.

I would like to start by saying even though I accept that some of these online quotes are written by some great minds, and some are true and good, these positivity quote meme post things has been doing the rounds for quite a few years now and a fascination with how they are quite subjective to the reader interests me. The irony behind a lot for some people and also the human algorithm of “spreading positivity” digitally. I am also interested in the use of imagery behind the text; a posotivity gilet? And If you put someone doing a one handed cartwheel behind anything it will look positive.
Id like to see this positive thinker that is imune to all poisons? Anthrax? Ricin?

The marvelous artist Dan Fox (author of The Art of Pretention) and artist Mark Beasley with their band Big Legs, singing about stuff.
This, along with the book by Deyan Sudjic and Davis Shrigley's track "Don'ts" were my main inspiration when deciding to make a book about "The hidden meaning of Stuff and Things".

One of my favourite video tapes we had when I was a child. People and their stuff. Stuff making us angry and trying to stay positive in an arritating world. Full of stuff.

THEY LIVE By John Carpenter
In the eighties the perfect family and the fast car and the perfect body was the prodominent goal, now it seems to be all that and more: Health and Well Being, a “P.M.A” and “mindfulness” (the inevitable churning cogs of capitalist comodification have created a reversed detournament in these initially good and honest practices). Having an unrealsitstic amount of friends, everyone to be “a creative” and generally to always be seen to be striving for constant perfection now enter into the “goals” and achievements we are now all encouraged/expected to have, but more importantly for all this to be digitally represented, and well.
The iconic Shepard Fairey took this slogan “OBEY” to another level and created a clothing range under the slogan name. Selling at about £50 a shirt………………
