Looking over the beach and breakwater towards the horizon of the mainland of Massachusetts. The light from my SUV is lighting up the weather worn log upon the beach. T'was a cold evening, and the fresh sea air was invigorating. The seagulls in the distance were squawking back and forth before settling down for the night. The last streams of light painted the clouds in glorious colors. As twilight came on the last glimpses of light faded from the horizon. All that could be heard was the sea water rushing to the shore and the crash of the late November waves upon the rocks of the peninsula and breakwater. From the seashore bluff towards the lighthouse. Featured in the film: The Finest Hours, which depicted the rescue of the SS Pendleton's crew by USCG personnel stationed at the lighthouse in 1952. The actual boat, CG 36500 used in the rescue is located elsewhere, berthed in Orleans, MA. The boat beside the light is a more recent model. There used to be two lights here until 1923, when the twin light to this one was moved to Eastham, becoming Nauset Light. Which incidently I have featured before, just a couple of weeks ago in another photo. Just before sunrise this morning over the Tennessee River. Rather like the mixture of colors painting the clouds this chilly morning. It was 36-37 this morning when I got up at 4 am, but it has cooled since then, and now it is 32.5-33 outside. Wonder if it'll freeze today... Hmm... Local weather says windchills around 27. Glad I feel a little rested this morning, got about 6ish hours of sleep. I exercised about 1hr yesterday, and about 25min this morning before getting ready for work. While driving to work I got delayed by 7ish min because of some accident on the freeway, the local emergency had blocked the whole freeway off, so we had to divert off the freeway down to another on-ramp. News just broke that one of the people involved died. RIP. A foggy day at the horse farm. The sun was just cresting the horizon, and the aftermath of the violent storms we had the evening before left us with a thick fog. At one point the rain storm was so heavy that it created whiteout conditions and was a little exciting to drive through on the freeway.
