` ❝ switchblade smile ❞
she doesn't know how long she's stood here, smiling -- listening to this drunk, incoherent man's babbling. she taps her nails along the length of her arm, impatient to go -- impatient to move. she has things to do, people to see, and this alcoholic is not letting her do that.
he's talking about his wife -- the love of his life, the light of his soul, and sooyeon finds it to be disgusting the way he describes her. she sounds dainty and sweet -- perfect trophy wife image. it makes her smile twitch, the feeling of snarling strong in her bones.
when he delves into the past, going back to their wedding night, that's when sooyeon deems it to be enough.
"sir --" she cuts through with a tone full of saccharine, her smile bright and her teeth white as can be. she clasps her hands in front of her, bowing slightly as she hums, a look of apology shifting on her features. "as much as i would like to stay here and chat, i have things i need to finish. would you mind if i left you for now?" she brings a hand up to her mouth, tilting her head in question as a worried look crosses his face.
she's always thought looks were essential in getting out of things. her idea doesn't let her down, and the male is laughing -- boisterously and happy, and he waves her off with a grin too big for his face and breath that smells of hard liquor.
she smiles once more, before ducking past him, heels clicking in her wake. when she's far enough, the smile wipes off her face only to be replaced with a look of indifference. she flickers her stare throughout the inhabitants of the casino, nodding her head at fellow employees and regular customers, a smile here and there. a facade is easy to put up with, after all. some people are so easily deceived.
she ducks her head past the main entrance of the casino, and heads down the hallway -- to the private sectors, the employee staff rooms, etc. she slips her phone out of her pocket, flickering her stare over the bits of information presented, snorting as she rolls her eyes.
a deal has been going on, for a little past the time they were regulated to continue. as an enforcer, it's sooyeon's jobs to find and make sure everything is going smooth and well -- to appease the higher ups, to appease the general community.
and hell hath no woman like jung sooyeon, who hates being called in for these types of duties. but an enforcer will do what an enforcer is told, after all.
twisting down one hallway, she sees the designated door, and with a smile on her face, she digs into her pocket for the specific key card, swiping it on the machine next to the knob, unlocking and pushing it open without a knock otherwise.
-- she doesn't blink at the stares that are thrown her way, a raise of her brow the only response she gives as she shuts the door behind her, locking it for good measure. sighing, she crosses her arms and turns towards the group in the room, pressing her tongue in her cheek as she tilts her head. "...is everything going smoothly?"
in arcanum, there are a handful that know of jung sooyeon, and she has seen the few faces in here. she knows them, and they know her -- they know how her temper is riled easily, at the simplest of things. they know she's not hesitant to deal out a blow if needed, they know she's not one to play games with.
and then there are the few nameless faces she doesn't recognize -- the other end of the deal she's sure.
but there's one that she does know, one that makes her eyebrow raise and a look of amusement cross her face. because of all the workers in the casino -- the last she expected was nam woohyun to be present.
"you were supposed to be done ten minutes ago." her tone is accusatory, her eyes flickering between each and every face as she clicks her tongue, an unimpressed look crossing her features. "did something go wrong?"

Drink Me
it’s a known fact that sooyeon can’t hold her alcohol well — in fact, there’s no argue. she can’t hold her liquor intake at all. one little drink gets her a little before incoherent; it gets her all snuggly and smiley and tipsy, while two gets her a bit sick. the third drink always has her throwing up her arms with a yell, and the fourth one reduces her to that of a child.
— but sooyeon’s on the second one, and with a whine, she sets her head on the counter. she mumbles words about headaches and stomachaches, peering up at the female next to her with a pout.
"tatiana~" she whines, pouting at the girl as she huffs. the counter is cool on her face, and sooyeon lets out a small sigh at it. "why’d you make me drink so much…"
to be quite honest, the older female didn’t have anything to do with it. in fact — it had been sooyeon to propose they go out, and well would you look at where she is now.
"…i think i’m gonna puke."

Love Me
her head is killing her — there’s a consistent pain behind her eyelids that just won’t leave, and with a small whimper, sooyeon snuggles into the form next to her; donghae is emitting warmth and comfort, and she sighs as she presses herself further into his body.
there’s a sigh, and a light push on her head as he pats it — but it does nothing to help her headache. she winces form it, but says nothing, because she doesn’t mind the attention, doesn’t mind the comfort. it’s something — if not anything at all, and that’s what she’s grateful for.
"i’m sleepy," she murmurs into his shirt, reaching up to wrap an arm around his waist as she yawns. small, content noises escape her throat, and she presses herself further into his side, inhaling deeply. a smile graces her lips as his fingers run through her hair, and sooyeon thinks that times like these are what she loves most.
something simple, something sweet.

how many years has it been since sooyeon last laid eyes on jongin? she can't remember. she shoots him a smile that's soft and uncharacteristic for someone as angry and violent as jung sooyeon. crossing her arms across her chest, she tilts her head as she assesses him. he's grown -- of course he has, because its been a few years. years that sooyeon, undoubtedly put between them because of her little stunt.
a little part of her regrets the ties she had to cut, but part of her is so grateful for the bout of freedom that the separating of her and her family has brought on.
she purses her lips in thought, and her eyes roll up as she thinks. tapping her fingers on her arm, she shoots the male a shrug, her smile turning tired and small. "i've been alright -- surviving. the only thing you can do in a place like this." her tone is full of nonchalance, but there's the undertone of fatigue in it.
his question throws her off a bit, and immediately the expression is shifted off her face to that of indifference. it takes seconds for her mind to click on what he's asking -- and a flush starts from the apples of her cheeks as she coughs, and glances away. of course he doesn't know. is the thought that echoes in her mind, and she hurriedly draws up something.
"yes," she states -- a bit too quick, but hurriedly plasters on a grin that's full of teeth and mirth. "thank you for noticing." the sarcasm and humor on her tone is playful, her hands placing on her hips as she stares at him, eyebrow raised.
it's not that she's ashamed to be working here -- not one bit. despite the few troublesome guests she has to deal with, it's not that bad at all. it pays decent, she gets to play the cute role and drag a few sorry saps and suckers along with her -- it's nice and perfectly acceptable for her.
but to those who knew her as jung sooyeon -- prized family jewel of the jungs, of course this would be so far off and strange.
sooyeon swallows, and shifts. "do you come around here often?" she tilts her head in question. "i didn't peg you to be the gambling type, jongin-ah."

kill me >:)
when sooyeon wakes up, her head is throbbing, her hands are stinging — and it smells. it smells pungent and gross and dead, and my god, why is there so much blood?
( — its through her tears that she’s screaming, snarling — her hands gripping each and every portion of his skin as she digs her nails in and scratches. there’s blood on her hands, but she’s lost her thought on whose it is at this point. all she knows is that kris needs to leave, he needs to stop. he needs to go far, far away from her.
it’s his touch that makes her snap, and she sees red, and then she lunges.)
"hey. wake up…"
he’s lying in a pool of red substance — it’s not blood, no no. not at all. his hair is covered in it — that’s not a cut on his head. no no. not at all. and he’s not moving. sooyeon feels her throat constrict and tighten, her lips parting to release a heavy, shaky sigh as she reaches out to him.
he’s cold to touch, and that has her eyes stinging. sooyeon whimpers like a child, and shakes him lightly. “yah — kris, wake up. this isn’t funny.”
silence is her only response, and it takes sooyeon a full five minutes of sniffling and light murmurs of him to move, before she realizes what she’s done.
the scream that leaves her mouth is full of anguish.

Fight Me
"let me go!”
sooyeon has tantrums — this is a fact to anyone that knows her. but to all that know her, they know to stay far away when she’s in one of her moods, in one of her fits. it’s hard to reason with her, and even harder to stop her once she sets her mind to something.
so when taekwoon grabs her in the midst of her episode — she lashes out. she screams and snarls and scratches, baring her teeth whenever he tightens his grip on her. “listen — get off of me, get the fuck away from me. i’ll knock you out, i swear to god!”
she’s spewing out obscenities — ones that not a lady of her family stature should know. but sooyeon is a untamed, wild and uncontrollable when she loses her mind to her rage.
and so she continues to fight against his hold, and she sinks her teeth into his arm as a resort, and her body shakes and heaves because it’s all too much, too much for her.

( ` she's practically beaming by the time she follows him to the island, sliding to one side as she clasps her hands together. rubbing her palms against each other, she licks her lips with a contented hum. flickering her stare over the plethora of food, she moves her stare up to donghae, eyes disappearing into crescents as she grins.) thank you! you're the best, you know that? ( ` she means it -- compliments come few and far between when jung sooyeon is concerned.) -- ( ` she grabs at the utensil, sighing happily as she grabs her first bite, bringing it up to her lips. blowing on it to avoid a burn, she pops it into her mouth and chews. her body heaves forward, and she holds up her mouth as she lets out a squeal.) yah yah, let's live together, oppa. you can be my personal chef! ( ` she shoots him a playful smile, before taking another bite.) it's really good. you outdid yourself! ( ` it's a simple meal, but sooyeon is used to cup ramen and rice at her own home. too lazy to cook, too tired to eat. this is a blessing.) good job, oppa.

she smiles -- an action so cruel and vile, sooyeon wonders just how long she'll be able to have this game continue. she hums, and crosses her arms, licking her lips as she steps closer and closer.
"a promise, of course." she taps her mouth with a finger, tilting her head at him. she's going to enjoy this -- thoroughly. "i suppose if all goes...awry. it could be used as a threat." she cocks a brow at him, her smile turning playful. "don't even tease the idea -- i can and will fuck you over if i need to."
sooyeon claps her hand, turning her smile less vindictive and into a more happy, carefree one. it feels foreign on her face, used to scowls and snarls of every which kind. "ah, great! i'm glad we could negotiate. now, let's see." she clicks her tongue, jutting out her lips into a pout as she thinks. biting her lip, she tilts her head further, her smile turning coy.
"i'm hungry." she places her hands on her hips, jutting one portion of her body out to the side as she raises her brows. "buy me food."

bREAK ME (O QUEEN OF ANGST)
Leave a “Break Me” in my ask, and I will write an angsty drabble about our characters.
she’s always been told to be a good girl. that she is a good girl. the epitome of perfection, she remembers being described as. people came to her of their own will — drifted to her because of a smile and a flutter of lashes.
she was a princess is every sense — but here and now, sooyeon feels inadequate. not enough.
"howon-ah." her voice is but a whisper, ragged and pained. her eyes are bloodshot, her hair askew from the constant running of her fingers in it. but she continues on, keeping strong. her stare is desperate, and as they graze over his features — familiar and home in her heart — she whimpers. it’s a sound so foreign, so strange to hear. "…why? what’s wrong with me?"
her voice sounds so broken, so defeated. the sting is in her eyes, but she doesn’t want to admit it’s tears of being upset, so weak. sooyeon isn’t weak — not in the slightest.
but lee howon makes her weak, in her heart, in her head and in her knees. the ultimate weapon to take down such a foe as her.
she reaches out, her hands bloodied and bleeding — knuckles cut open and bruised. her fingers are shaking as she reaches out, lips trembling. “why?” her voice cracks, her fingers gripping onto his sleeve. she shakes it gently, head drooping as her shoulders shake. she’s holding onto his clothes like a lifeline — body curling into herself as she lets out a particularly loud sob. “w-why? why am i not good enough for you?”
she believes it’s because howon is perfect. he is everything sooyeon has ever wanted, and everything sooyeon is not.
she believes it’s because she’s filth — and no one wants to spend their time around something so foul and dirtied as her.

she loves the feeling of being superior; the power she has over him. it makes a feeling bubble in her chest -- it's euphoric, it's orgasmic. sooyeon is an abundance of feelings and it's all centering around the fact because she's got him wrapped around her finger.
his grip on her wrist is tight -- not painful, but too tight for comfort. she narrows her eyes and her lip twists back into a snarl. but before she can toss out an insult of sorts, a command -- he's loosening, and his smile is much more pliant.
she tenses at the kiss, and her eyes flicker all over the features of his face. calculating -- watching, waiting. she's waiting for any signs of snapping, anything that implies he's going to back down. pursing her lips, she pulls her hand back with a snap of her wrist, glaring at him for a moment as she drops her hand to her side.
"i'm glad you understand." her tone is clipped, and she's averting her gaze briefly. "i assure you. i'm not all that bad you know -- you scratch my back, i scratch yours. okay?" she smiles, abrupt and shortly. her hand stretches forward, cupping the pint of his chin as her thumb presses against his lower lip -- and a small chuckle that's a bit more condescending slips out. "i'll treat you nice. so nicely -- you'll never want to leave." her voice is a chirp, high pitched and happy. her head tilts to the side as her eyes turn to little moons with her grin.
-- and then its wiped off her face, gone is the sweet and serene, and here lies a wicked witch. baring her teeth, she hums in his general direction. "do we have a deal? i hope so. i wouldn't want anything bad to happen to you...or your little weakspot." she shoots him a grin that's far too cocky, far too vain.

arcxjoon:
He had gotten to her in a subtle way that would easily be dismissed in a matter of seconds, rolling his eyes to her rhetorical question being lectured wasnt something he was fond of, he wasnt a child. Jung Sooyeon had dove in head first into a pool of insults, sinking her claws into his skin and latching onto him with her last few words. His featured started to harden, clenching his jaw tightly. She seemed to know what to say to grab a hold on his attention, and couldn’t gather how she could have found out. But she had suddenly made it to the top of his list of people he despised.
He broke eye contact, which was probably the first mistake he could have made. He could feel his heart drop into his stomach, and nasuea build in the back of his throat, but he had to bare with the sudden wave of emotions that werent even supposed to exist. He didnt want Miyoung to be harmed, there was no way he would allow it without putting up some type of fight. He lost her once and he wasnt sure if he could take losing her again to some bitch that carried a title that held no true meaning, it just so happen she had the right cards in her heads to cause him to crumble, for now.
"What kind of price." he mumbled through a clenched jaw, curling his fingers into a tight fist turning his knuckles white. There were no other options, he couldnt have Miyoungs blood on his hands, she could leave him ten thousand times over and he could deal with the heart ache over and over again before her death was on his hands.
she grins -- she loves the way his face hardens and shifts just slightly, the smallest bits of change that she knows is getting to him. clearing her throat, she crosses her arms and licks her lips as she stares him down, eyebrows raised and smile too smug to be considered okay.
-- truth be told, she wouldn't do a damn thing to the girl, even if he had disagreed. she cares not for his supposed target -- that's not her job description. the fact of the matter is that lee changsun came waltzing in here with no respect towards her whatsoever.
the thought had her eye twitching, but the feeling is too great when he speaks -- and she hears the slow submitting. it's too much -- and her happiness is practically bubbling over her form. sighing, she shrugs her shoulder as she holds her arms up in a nonchalant fashion.
"don't sound so upset. it's not that big of a price." she laughs, eyes disappearing into crescents as she moves closer to him, her smile turning coy and scathing. pausing in front of him, she reaches out -- and lets her fingers graze the swell of his cheek in the softest of touches. "it's not bad at all. it could be much, much worse." her voice has dropped to that of a lower octave, slow and purposeful.
sliding her hand from his cheek, she wraps it around the base of his neck, using her fingertips to tangle into the ends of his hair as she tugs it lightly. chuckling, she shoots him a grin. "all you have to do -- is be a good little boy, and do whatever i say." her tone sounds much too happy, and her eyes are just a bit too triumphant. "does that sound easy enough for you, changsun-ah?" sooyeon practically purrs his name, rolling it off her lips with the softest of breaths.

the entire wait of the rest of the hour is spent blankly staring at her phone, going through various messages and the like. she has to have something occupying her time, otherwise she's going to get testy -- and she's going to get angry. she clicks her tongue, and snorts at the little things she reads, the gossip bits, the truths and rumors and opinions.
it's two minutes before her designated time -- and she jerks lightly at the sound of oncoming feet. her gaze flickers up, and there she meets the eyes of none other than lee changsun -- her designated victim of the day. clicking her tongue, she sighs and pockets her phone. pushing herself off the wall, she crosses her arms and pinpoints a glare at him, pressing her tongue on her cheek as she raises a brow.
"i'm glad you made it on time, and with a minute to spare." her tone is nonchalant, but her stare is anything but. taking a few languid steps towards him, she assesses him, an appraising look on her features as a small chuckles leaves her lips.
"lee changsun," she calls, her tone having the slightest bit of amusement seeping through. "you're a hitman -- correct?" she doesn't wait for an answer, merely continuing on with an exaggerated sigh. "you sure don't act like it. i don't think i've ever seen hitmen in the arcanum fuck up like this before. normally, they're all for knocking out their target. and yet here you are," she pauses in her trek, turning her head to stare at him. her smile turns whimsical, mocking almost. "...you. who couldn't kill one pathetic little bitch with a computer."
she kicks out her foot, knocking away a trash can that was on the ground. the sound reverberating from it is loud and deafening in the alley, but sooyeon pays no mind to it.
"i wonder, i wonder," she sings, her smile twisting and turning into something more sinful, more wicked. "...since you're so incompetent to deliver such an easy kill, perhaps -- i should be the one to do it?" she turns her body to face is completely, clasping her hands together as she grins at him. "i won't make the mistake of letting her go. in fact -- i'll make sure the death is twice as painful and twice as dirty." she spits out. "...as the one you planned to give."
and so sooyeon smiles, a twisted and vile one -- full of sinister intent. "what should i do, pretty boy? should i take care of your target for you..." she steps closer to him, softening her smile. "...or should i ignore it? but i'll warn you. ignoring it comes with a small price."

the female is unfamiliar even as sooyeon stares at her, eyebrows raising higher in question. the last thing she wanted to deal with was a little girl wanting to play cops and robbers this late at night. clicking her tongue, she steps forward -- slowly, languidly. sooyeon eyes the female like a predator would her prey, waiting. anticipating.
"yes," the female muses. "that would be me. but i don't think i've had the pleasure of meeting you before." there's sarcasm dripping off her tone. perhaps if this had been any other day, any other situation, sooyeon would have been in a better mood. but today -- not the day.
it takes just seconds hearing the girl speak -- the tone sweet and cute, mocking and sardonic. it has her gritting her teeth and her eyes narrowing. her nails dig into the skin of her palms, shredding the small bits of skin on her hands. this little bitch.
-- the anger takes over her mind, red hot through her veins. she imagines a plethora of situations, all ranging from the girl suddenly choking on the words shes spitting out to something as strange and out of place as the roof crashing in on her big head.
but sooyeon grins, all teeth and smiles and amicable image. she uncrosses her arms as she clasps her hands together, inhaling deep as she lets out a coo of sorts. "wah -- that's so..."
she doesn't finish her sentence, doesn't wait for a reaction. in fact, her body doesn't let her -- because in the next moment, her hand is flinging out, knuckles slamming into the cheek of the female in a swift hit.
you smartass little brat.
❝— ambivalence ║ hwang miyoung & jung sooyeon
(...)
she couldn’t help it, her dark eyes rolling up behind her eyelids for a brief moment before settling back on her prey once more. she scoffed at her, giving a shake of her head. “now if you don’t mind, i think ill be on my way. i’d rather not be here to witness anymore of your ingenious epiphanies.”
