"Good to hear. Like I said... I did not know," she said, taking a seat in one of the pews and smiling sheepishly.
"Oh... he was not so bad. I have certainly dealt with my share of rude, grumpy old folks back home, and I did spend a little coin there eventually, which probably kept him from having me physically removed." She laughed a little, behind her hand as if she were embarrassed about the sound. "He was loudly implying that I should buy more or get out, though."
“No one will yell at you, not for simply walking into the temple.” She gestured to the pews in the room before turning. “You can sit anywhere, or stand, if you want.
“Is it cold out? Skyrim’s weather must not bother me anymore, then, or not as much. It feels warm to me.” She had planned to end the conversation there, but the word alchemy had her halting and twisting around. “You were at Elgrim’s Elixirs?” She scoffed. “I’m surprised that he didn’t try to throw you out. He is a rude old man.”

"I would imagine it was. I have not been to Hammerfell but I can only imagine the difference in temperature," she said with a little laugh. "I'm sure I'll adjust sooner or later, though. I am... relatively adaptable, if nothing else. And I have a nice cloak... that I left back at the College, but that is not the point."
"It takes some time." Therrant reassures her as he starts walking again. He chose to ignore her talk of invisibility spells, knowing that even if he learned all the theory he’d never be able to cast such a thing. "I came here from Hammerfell. It was…drastic."

She smiled, considering that. "This makes sense. I cannot imagine magic is any good for hunting in general. Well, maybe invisibility spells, so you do not scare the prey, but quiet footsteps probably work just as well."
With a nod, she sped up a little, with harder footsteps. "I apologise-- I am simply unaccustomed to... well, snow, much less ice. We do not get too much where I am from."
"No. I’m a hunter, never had any magic." Therrant realizes he was leaving Talisa behind, and stops to wait for her. He checks how much daylight they have left. At a pace like that, they may not make it to the mines until after dark.
"If you step harder, you can break through the ice layer. Makes it easier to walk."

"Villiai," Talisa repeats, testing the name carefully. It sounds a little off in her very Cyrodilic accent but she does pronounce it correctly. "You live in Solitude, then? It's a nice city. Especially for Skyrim-- er, no offense. It is very nice here but I keep comparing it to Skingrad and, well..." She trailed off then, shaking her head.
"Never mind. As for how I got here, I took a carriage to Morthal-- some alchemical ingredients I was asked to collect for someone grow near there. I wandered too far. Now evidently I am here. Which is okay, it is... like a brief adventure, almost."
"Talisa? What a lovely name." She smiles, "My name is Villiai Shatter-Stone. It’s a pleasure to meet you. And I will happily show you the way. I’m just returning home myself." She tucks the book away, tucking her arms in front of her body, "If you don’t mind me asking, how did you end up all the way out here?"

She nodded, still looking down as if worried she might get yelled at by someone for something.
"It is all working out... well enough. It's not exactly... I mean, this is not Skingrad, and not the Synod, and these certainly aren't Imperial instructors but it is... actually rather nice here for the most part. Quiet. In that there are no politics, and in that I have not seen anything explode yet."
Fienelef shook her head, passively lifting her hands. “Oh dear, no, really, it is more than okay. I ramble too.” With that, she tried to give a reassuring smile.
Lowering her hands once more, she resisted the urge to fuss with her fingers. “Two days? You are quite new, then. Welcome to the College, I hope everything is working out andeveryone is treating you well. I was new myself not all that long ago.”
And most people still didn’t know who she was. Oh well, so was the life of a recluse.

She smiles and follows along, each step somewhat careful, as if she's somewhat worried-- and she is, she's not used to snow at all and it's terribly slippery, isn't it?
"Yes! I am. Not many other reasons for a trip to Winterhold-- the town is so empty, it's almost a little sad," she says with a slight frown. "Ah, but what about you? I mean, you look Breton, I think, and many Bretons are magically-inclined, but not all, and you have a bow."
"Same to you. I’m Therrant. Err- At your service." He makes an awkward half-bow with his head and starts off, keeping his eyes on the snow for more tracks while he walks.
"So, you’re a mage then, right?" He asks her as they walk, feeling like he should at least try to make conversation. However he dearly wished he had something more interesting to make conversation about. Of course she was a mage! An Altmer doesn’t come to Winterhold from Cyrodiil for the scenic views! Stupid!

"I do not mind," Talisa said, smiling a little and shaking her head. "Not that I have... ever been to a miner's camp before, but I am certain sleeping there would not be too bothersome. Mostly... I would just prefer to get back to Winterhold as soon as possible."
She paused, then added, "Ah, I nearly forgot to ask for my escort's name. I am Talisa, and it's nice to meet you."
Wordlessly, Therrant just smiled warmly at her. That comment about slipping down a mountain was too familiar for him to not be amused. She must be tougher than she looks, with all her skirts and pretty face-paint, to have survived falling down any of the mountains around here.
"If you don’t mind staying the night at a miner’s camp, I can take you to Winterhold straight away. I have a customer at the College I need to visit."

Talisa smiled sheepishly back, eyes on her feet rather than the other mage-- clearly she deemed this a terrible mistake.
"I just, from behind I, and perhaps... and... you are dressed similarly," she finished at last, then nodded.
"Y-yes, I am... I just came to Skyrim earlier this week, in fact, and I have been here for only two days, which is likely why you have not seen me. I have kept to myself as well, for the most part anyway, I spoke to a few people and someone tripped over me in a doorway once, and... oh, sorry. I... I'm rambling. Forgive me."
The mage was startled. Tensing up, she quickly pulled her arm back, drawing in on herself as she looked at the other. Murky eyes flickered over her face, searching for some sort of familiarity in it.
She didn’t know the woman.
Awkwardly messing with her sleeve, she managed a polite smile. “Oh no, it is more than okay, you are not the first to mistake me to be someone else.”
There was a pause. “Are you new here? I do not believe I have ever seen you before.”

Talisa smiles at that, clasping her hands behind her back. "Oh? Wonderful. I did not mean to interrupt your reading by the way. I merely... assumed that if you were reading alone you probably were not looking for trouble. Glad to know that is the case."
After a pause, she seemed to try and work out where Solitude was, on her mental map of Skyrim. "Solitude...? Oh, that's fine. I can get a carriage from there to Winterhold, I believe," she said, seemingly losing herself in a thought for a moment before shaking her head. "Could you perhaps show me the way? Oh, and I am Talisa, by the way."
The Vampire looks up from her book, soft murmuring stopping once she hears someone calling out. After a quick glance around, she catches glimpse of the Altmer. She looked.. familiar. To say the least.
"Ah, yes, I was just heading back to town myself." She admits, "Solitude is just up the road here. And I’m no bandit." She laughs, a warm noise, "I’m harmless, should you be as well."

Her eyes widen somewhat, then she shakes her head, a defeated look on her face. "No. I do not even know where Windhelm is." She puts her face in her hands for a moment, then sighs. "Are you sure it's a day's walk? I did not go that far unless... well, I did accidentally slip down a mountain earlier and... Oh..."
She sighs quietly, then pouts. "I cannot even use a recall spell... I mean, I did not expect to end up this far or... Never mind, either way I... am not sure whether to try and make it back to Winterhold or try this Windhelm place."
"Winterhold?" He looks at her askance. How did she wander so far so quickly? He supposed the whole bear-attack could’ve helped her along some…
"Lady, did you mean Windhelm? It’s the city behind those ridges over there. Winterhold’s a day’s walk from here."

"I am rubbish with fire. It's terribly uncooperative," she said with a little laugh, now able to laugh at her foolishness since she was out of danger.
"I would... appreciate the assistance. Running from the bear turned me around. I am... unsure which way Winterhold even is."
"Some friendly advice - use fire next time." Therrant followed her down, crunching snow beneath his feet as he landed. "Everything up here is already used to ice."
"Do you need help getting back?"

"It wasn't mad but it was looking at me, and I thought I could scare it off. Evidently not," she said, pouting a little before dropping down a few branches. After a moment, she lept off one of the lower ones, landing on the ground... mostly-gracefully. "I was just going for a walk. Trying to brave this far-northern, er, summer. Mm, allegedly it's summer, anyway."
"Ma’am, you should only attack a snow bear if it’s already mad or you want to die." Therrant coughs slightly, still not looking up at her. "It’s not hungry, so it probably returned to its cave. What are you doing out here?"

She doesn't seem to notice the way he looked away so quickly, merely nodded, wide-eyed. "Oh... damn. Glad it didn't. My ice spikes just seemed to anger it and I am not interested in becoming bear food."
A thought seemed to occur to her and she asked, "You think it's gone now, maybe? It won't come back? Or at least, not soon? I'm worried that as soon as I get a few paces from the tree I'll see it again, like it's lying in wait, but bears aren't that clever, right?"
Despite the obvious fear in her voice, he couldn’t help but chuckle softly. She was clearly new around here. He nodded, looking up at her before his eyes widened and he nearly broke his neck with how fast he looked away.
"Y-Yea, but all bears in Skyrim will attack you if they’re hungry. The snow bears are just tougher and meaner. You’re lucky it didn’t climb up after you."

"You sure? I mean, that makes sense, I just did not wish to get yelled at. Skyrim is strange. I miss stone chapels," she said, voice quiet, before smiling. "And thank you. I... not really, I just... it is rather cold out, is it not? Well, comparatively. Compared to elsewhere. To think the Nords call this summer! I... sorry, er, I just felt I had loitered in the alchemy shop long enough, and left before someone had to tell me to, and did not know where else to go, and these places are usually open to the public, at least during daytime..."
No, not priestess—healer, Brielle corrected in her mind. She only smiled, though, not bothering to correct the Altmer. “Well, yes, of course. Everyone is allowed to come in.” So she says, but there are some people that she has met that should not be allowed to step inside the temple.
“Is there something that you need?”

"Pardon me, um, you, er, w-would not happen to know where, er, the city went, would you? Any city, or a town, or an inn by the road or something, I do believe I have become rather lost and I worry this road is taking me in circles, or maybe I am just confused..."

She nods quickly. "Yes. I've never seen one that colour before-- bears in Cyrodiil are all brown or black, perfectly normal bear colours. I thought the thing would just ignore me, like bears usually do, but it didn't, it chased me and then I climbed up here and it got bored."
A little frown appears, and she lowers her voice to a whisper. "Do the white ones eat people?"
Therrant gets startled when she nearly falls, and quickly lowers his bow. A giant bear, huh? They were far enough north for those to be possible…
With a wary glance around, Therrant slipped his bow over his shoulder and climbed up her tree for a few branches. Snow-bears were tricky, and much more vicious than regular ones.
"Was it white?"
