Here is one of TWO previews of pieces I did for the wonderful @/famemusicmagic zine on Twitter! I was allowed to work on the cover and on a contributor piece and I’ve had a LOT of fun with them - Here is a sneak peek onto the cover! Enjoy!
I was always pretty happy with how Klavier and Trucy turned out in this piece!
there's literally been. a total of 8 indigenous people killed by the police forces in canada since august 29th. over two weeks. across several provinces. one of them, hoss lightning, a cree man, was shot by the rcmp after he called them for fucking help. the other was a mi'kmaw man in new brunswick who called because he was threatening to hurt himself. they fucking tased him & then shot him. this is literally so fucking unacceptable. nobody's talking about this unless they're native. FUCK reconciliation. we need ACTION.
My preview for @astellaradventurezine! I was the art/graphics mod for this one and made a set of icons featuring the elite four
The zine is currently in formating and I just wanna say the art and writing our contributors did turned out amazing! Be sure to check it out when it comes out
"terminally ill people should be allowed to choose to die if they feel it is the best decision for them" and "euthanasia can easily become eugenics" and "we should provide support for depressed and suicidal people" are statements that can come into conflict but should all be respected
artist in denial of being depressed: omg this 2 month long art block has been crazy... sorry i haven't updated any of my fics in a long while! it's just been super difficult to daydream! so weird that i've lost a little bit of passion for my current comfort character and ocs... this couldn't possibly have any implications or alternative explanations
I'm seeing so many palestinian fundraisers that are getting completely abandoned by people the moment they meet a short term goal or a goal they need to extend, if not a bit before. This can't keep happening, especially when one of the reason they need to extend their goal is because fundraising is taking so much time and the prices in Gaza are only going up. Making them wait even more will only exacerbate the problem.
These last few weeks, the complacency towards campaigns has been getting worse and worse and I don't know why. I hope everyone reading this realise palestinians have been constantly victims of bombings, shootings, malnutrition and diseases for close to A YEAR now. This should not ellicit apathy at the amount of suffering we're seeing from them everyday but the opposite! We should keep helping even more!
When the US and other western countries are more willing to give weapons to Israel than we are to donate $5 to a palestinian family, what does it say about us?
In any case, if you still care about helping people going through a genocide please consider donating to my friend Mahmoud @mahmoudjumaa1238 . He had to extend his goal to 20k because of the increasingly high living expenses in Gaza and need to get to 15k by the end of September. Since reaching 10k he has been receiving very few donations.
Our second event is about to come to a close and we still have quite a few more tickets to the show! If you were thinking about joining, now's your chance!
A Haitian American woman with long Covid and her daughter with cancer have both been struggling to raise funds that would help them during their illnesses. Both of them live in the Midwest, which is where a lot of the most recent fear mongering has been centered.
COJEHA is a Haitian organization that provides financial support for youth, teaches agricultural skills, helps ensure children attend school, and teaches other soft life skills. They're working on building a farm with fish and vegetable crops where teaching occurs, which will also increase local access to fresh food.
P4H Global is the organization that has been working on building the canal connected to the Massacre River, another agricultural project. They have also been working to support education in Haiti, with both teachers and students.
The Haitian Community Center in Springfield, Ohio. Springfield's food bank, community health center, and a local Catholic organization that provides aid are also accepting donations.
Richard Pierrin is a journalist who has had to flee Haiti and is trying to get a visa that will allow him to work, and that doesn't end after 3 months.
Marc Henry and his family have been dealing with food insecurity for months, and are trying to get funds so they can eat, as well as supplies like livestock and fishing equipment so they can sustain themselves even after the fundraiser is done. They're close to their goal.
An elderly couple's home was damaged multiple times over the last few years and they are trying to raise funds to finish construction. They are also very close to their goal.
A fundraiser for children in Jacmel to provide food, water, and clothes.
A fund for several families to secure plane tickets out of the country
OTRAH is an organization that helps trans Haitians and wants to expand their services to combat HIV. They don't have a gofundme, instead donations are discussed over email.
There is also this thread of Haitian gofundmes which updates fairly regularly
This document explaining the leadup to where we are now also names some organizations that could use financial support
