do you have any tutorial on how to paint gold? your gold motifs are so beautiful and it's something i struggle with. Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks! Uhh it generally shifts based on the texture & shape I’m going for, but here’s my general process / rule of thumb:

Or if you lock layer transparency — or however its called in Photoshop — you can use a textured brush to quickly pepper in some highlights & shadow to add a gold-ish effect:

I always appreciated the 30k writing on the Alpha Legion, how tactical and pragmatic they were.

With work a brutal constant and assignments piling on I did the only thing that made sense. Painted a little golden warhammer man.

So I give you Harbinger, an angelic looking bloke that doesn't let a little handicap like being dead stop him from curbstomping the foe into dust.

A real lesson for the children.

Edit: I became a real artist when I started at this until I hated it. Then added witchypoo blood magic tentacles and finally considered it finished

With the recent release of Contrast paints I wanted to give them a shot on some of my unpainted multitudes to see the result.. then immediately bought like 50% of the contrast range.

I’m a massive fan of the easy but powerful effects you can get with contrast over different bases like gold or silver with just one coat as shown with these two models.

So recently I got into Necromunda and really fell in love with the Orlock miniatures. Plus who could resist being able to take a Cyber-doggo.

All this time I had been painting green like a fool!

Hey everyone! Here’s a fairly quick and simple process for painting monitors.

Base with black or dark green - I’ve gone with black for this one.

Paint the monitor edges and any details with a base grey (Celestra Grey here).

Highlight the monitor edges and details with white to build up a bit of a gradient/glow.

Glaze the whole monitor with Waywatcher Green glaze. You’ll probably want at least two or three layers of glaze to build up a good green - just let each layer dry completely first before adding the next!

Add a layer or two of Lamenters Yellow glaze if you like, focusing it more on the middle of the monitor to get a bit of a gradient.

And that’s it! You can then use some ‘Ardcoat/gloss varnish to add a bit more shine if you like as well. You could also use this method with other colours of glazes too - Guilliman Blue for a blue monitor, or Bloodletter + Lamenters Yellow for a red/orange monitor. Experiment with different combos!

XI Legion Veteran Tactical Squad: ‘The Black Hand’

They are the linebreakers,executioners and elite of the company. Never refusing the orders of Captain Hadriel once given.

On a side note, I’m really happy with how these came out. Trying a few new painting techniques and level of detail really paid off. Hope you enjoy them

Terminator Sanguinary Guard, the Crimson Paladins.

My boss, who had been real good to me in the last few years was leaving so I decided to paint him up a little Imperial Guard diorama.

The inscription reads: Presented to the Lord of the Sigs, Disconnect before dishonour.

Took the 17th Assault company into combat at #Herocon in Brisbane December last year. It was awesome catching up with mates and putting down traitors.

Even managed to down the Primarch Angron in one game (after he butchered all my characters in one CC phase 😅)

Now I can't help but think how intimidating it must be trying to talk face-to-face with a primarch in full armour and only coming up to his dong.
