CotC being so irreverent about canon basically gives everybody the "multiverse" excuse for fiddling with whatever Octopath narrative thing they want. There is a version of Partitio out there who is married to his calling to end poverty and perfectly fulfilled in life without romance; There's a version of him who's in love with Osvald and they kiss on the mouth everyday; There's a version of him that is FWB with that annoying pompadour guy from Bravely Default and post-timeskip Claude Fire Emblem at the same time.
