This whole thing about scanning your face to prove tour age is making me remember, in 2018 while out in paris we got our wallet stolen during a particularly busy night at a lesbian bar. It was very late and with no money to buy metro tickets we were effectively stranded, but some people helped us and we ended up staying the night at a really sweet older man's place. His face was deeply scarred and he was missing an eye. We chatted on our way and he told me about his life, probably to help calm me down. He explained he had been stuck in a house fire 20 years ago and had had multiple rounds of facial reconstruction and a skin graft, but there's only so much surgery can do so he just learned to live with it. I remember he said he liked the queer bars because they're the only place people don't really stare at him.

At some point I took out my phone, and at the time I was using face unlock. This prompted him to tell me all the ways this technology doesn't work on him. How his phone selfie camera doesn't focus right because it's not detecting a face. How he had to update his ID the old fashioned way, because the website kept rejecting his photos. And how it was becoming more and more common, and how it was making his life way harder.

This was 7 years ago, and now whenever I see this sort of technology I think of how that guy can't use it. And how house fires are pretty common, and how anything from being born this way to a skin condition to heavy tattooing can probably cause the same issue. Can these people get age verified ? Will they just lose access to all social media, which are increasingly necessary in society, if this becomes the norm ? These are people who are already driven out of public spaces due to how they look, and they're getting pushed out online too all in the interest of companies wanting more money.

URGENT FUNDRAISING FOR BREAST CANCER TREATMENT

I am genuinely sorry for this, but my sister is dying. If I could only ask for your permission one by one, I would, but I am afraid of the possibility that Tumblr may consider our plea as spam. Also, if any of you want an even more elaborate explanation about her medical condition, kindly look into this account's pinned post or you can message me directly because Tumblr flagged the pinned post as "sensitive content" after attaching proof of how extremely disfigured her right arm is. At times, it is also being kept hidden so not everyone can received notification even after being repeatedly tagged.

That is why despite the almost 14k notes, I decided to make another post/an update if you may because we are beyond desperate and we have not received any help as of lately.

My older sister's health has declined drastically since last week of December that is why I took over this account as per her request. We don't want to resort to asking for monetary assistance online but we still don't have the funds to get her through. As I have mentioned above, you can look into this account's pinned post to see how deformed her right hand was (if you needed the not blurred one, please let me know because I cannot possibly upload the actual picture because her account might end up getting taken down).

The entirety of her right arm is not only swollen, but blood kept seeping out of her knuckles, her palm, and her elbow. Protruding tumors/swelling have reached both of her breast, too, and is affecting her shoulder/shoulder blades and even her spine. Please reach out to me if you want to see more proof/health updates because I cannot post the photos here for they are somewhat too graphic. There's a lot of blood loss.

And although her arm was recently amputated, she is still under critical care and is currently battling numerous health complications.

If you could, please take some time to read her pinned post—please do. If you cannot donate, a reblog will be highly appreciated still. We need all the help we could get. I, recently just turned 18, and am only working part-time jobs trying to keep our family afloat, and what I am earning is not enough. The hospital could stop providing treatment at any time if we cannot put together the amount we owe them and the amount needed to outsource some of the meds that their in-house pharmacy cannot supply. It is a matter of life and death so I am begging all of you to please consider helping us. Help us get through this, please.

Last song I listened to: The Sharpest Lives by My Chemical Romance, which I think is probably my favorite song by them. I need to be in a specific mood to listen to mcr, and today I was in that mood.

Currently reading: shamefully, nothing. Work has been kicking my butt nonstop and I have focused more on writing than reading. I should be able to pick up a book soon, and my current plan is to read Geneva by Richard Armitage. I need a good thriller/crime book, I haven't read one in too long. Alternatively, I might go with a classic Agatha Christie book, because you can never go wrong with Monsieur Poirot.

Currently watching: Well, since the people over at Project Fear are super busy and not publishing a lot because they are still editing the videos, I'm catching up on their old show Destination Fear. I know ghost hunting shows get a lot of bad rep (mostly and rightfully due to Zak Bagans), but these four weirdos are fun to watch, the show is edited well, and the background history of the places they visit is super fascinating to me, I love abandoned places.

Currently craving: butter popcorn and an ice-cold glass of ice tea.

Tea or Coffee: Tea, all the way, always. I drink mugs of tea, not cups lol and multiple of them every day. I don't like coffee, but when I'm particularly tired I drink it for the caffeine boost. However, the way I drink my coffee is not exactly healthy nor Italian lol I put two espressos in a mug, then milk, almond syrup and ice. By the end, you can't even taste the coffee anymore lol

Eating healthy fruit (or sweet fruit flavored candy) can be great. However, Mohammed Al-habil @mohammedalhabil2000 and his family aren't able to do so. They live in Ghazzah, where basic needs like food, water, and medicine have been cut off for months. They need your help to afford food and other necessities.

The Al-Habil family has been suffering through well over a year of war. Tragically, Mohammed's father and brother were both martyred by the occupation forces.

As well as this, Mohammed leg was seriously injured. Without medical treatment and physical therapy, Mohammed could lose the use of his leg completely. However, receiving treatment is very expensive.

Donations have been extremely slow for Mohammed and his family. They often go for days on end without receiving anything. They can't afford for this to continue. They urgently need help to afford food and medical care. Please, I ask you to share and donate. Your action can make a difference to them.
