Someone reblogged a post from me that you had commented on, but from your old url so it said "fieldnotesfromtheunderworld deactived" and for a moment I was like "What?! No!! It can't be!!" and then the relief I felt when I searched and remembered you changed your blog title years ago. Phew.
Lol, yeah

It’s so crazy to me that I’ve really finished my first year in my PhD program. I’m interning at a national museum working with Indigenous belongings that have quite literally been forgotten about by the institution and it’s my job to bring them back into the world, possibly reconnecting them with descendants. This is what I live for and I’m ready to defend it.

So apparently Art in Bloom is not an exclusively Newfields idea as OKC MOA had it this weekend
I got a lot of compliments on my tea gown and I was happy for an occasion to wear it again

Gunna be honest, when I volunteered at this language competition, I was not expecting to see a six year old lick an ancient Roman mosaic.
I really wasn’t expecting her to lick it twice.
That’s a thing that happened today.

Found out the most random TeePublic shop was stealing my merch designs. As in every other design was heavy screamo metal and then there was my pastel exhausted pigeon and of course my Skippy's list.
You can buy the real stuff here:

Indigenous American (North and Central) archaeology and art history.
Calling all archaeoblurs!
If you're an archaeologist* and have a Tumblr, reblog this or sound off in the comments! I figured it's high time we put together a directory of sorts.
*for our purposes, archaeologist can mean someone who has or is working on a degree in archaeology, you don't necessarily have to be currently practicing. If you have a blog that is specifically archaeology focused, include that and what your specialty is!

I know it’s been a while. I’ve been taking a break from all social media as I adjust back into grad student life.
So funny story, one of my assignments this term is to make an anticolonial archaeology meme. My prof spent 40 minutes trying to explain to other students what makes a good meme. And I’m just sitting there wondering when I should tell him that the example is actually a screenshot of merch I made.

[me and roomie talking about Sweetgrass the Cat]
Roomie: she’s so perfect.
Me: I know. She’s my perfect kitty.
[loud sounds of cat hacking up hairball directly on my sandals]
Me: still perfect kitty

If you ever feel bad about making a mistake, remember; at least you didn’t accidentally delete an entire website and now have to rebuild it from scratch.

Dear academics who hide your dissertations and theses behind closed access and library use only,
What was the point in writing a huge ass paper if you weren’t going to let people read it?
I hate you and I hope my emails find you in various degrees of shame.

I’m reading for my classes and I see a mention of President William Clinton, and it takes me a solid paragraph to realize it was about Bill Clinton.

As an art historian who specializes in Indigenous arts, and was trained in Canada, I am having reverse culture shock now that I’m back in US academia. Everything is ‘Native’ and ‘Indian’ and I’m the weird one for saying ‘First Nations’.
It’s going to be an interesting five years.

My family: you’re making it more complicated than it needs to be. Just buy a pattern. We will buy you a pattern.
Me, hunched over my third attempt at scaling up a historical diagram for a caraco:
✨No✨

He has sent an apology and will be adding my credit to the video. All is well.
I just saw one of the kazoos art-thropologist drew for you featured in a Stefan Milo video
Wow that's definitely one of the craziest examples of breaking containment I've come across! Which video?
Also, @art-thropologist were you aware of this and properly credited???
