Tim Flach is a force to be reckoned with. It's one thing to enjoy the seemingly emotional characters played by his animal talent or the details and textures brought to life by his lighting, but there is so much more to this man. He is a genius of the craft. He nerds out on the technical. Back in the day.. he was a dancer. You don't know why this matters? It shows in the combination of his preparation and ability to improvise on the fly.

William Hereford has a way of shooting fashion, food, lifestyle and travel in a way that feels cohesive throughout the entirety of his work. Here are some of my favorite shots from his portfolio.

Peter Jamus is a young, promising photographer based out of the midwest. His dramatic lighting and intelligent choice of perspective creates captivating shapes and composition in his portraiture. His hunger and youthful energy bleed into his portfolio. Can't wait to see where his work goes.

Noah Kalina has this ability to create a beautiful dream-like quality through both natural and experimental photographic processes.  Although some of the subject matter can be NSFW, I find his “Pictures That Look Like This" extremely captivating.  There is this stark, edgy, fresh mixture within his work that gives a mysterious (or dark) romance to the subjects featured.

Kinfolk - New Website
Tumblr media
There is no doubt that Kinfolk has been inspiring and supplying a new wave of simplistic, down-to-earth, crafty, DIY, nature loving hipsters (I mean the most endearing use of the word "hipsters") .  Unless you've been trapped in a storage closet the last few years (us mannequins know how that goes), I don't feel the need to catch you up to speed.  However, today I stumbled across their new website and I'm just eating it up.  The site seems so have a lot more content than their previous site, is easier to navigate and matches better with the design aesthetic of their printed work. I have noticed a few bugs here and there, but I assume they will work out the kinks soon enough.

I highly suggest surfing through this sucker!

Trashhand's blog is full of bad ass cityscapes and the life dwelling there.  Most mannequins are limited to the storefronts in cities like New York, but this work displays the beauty of true city street grit.

He's also quite the instagram-er..

I recently received Carlos Serrao's newest promo.  All of my mannequin friends and I agree that this guy is a master of portrait photography.  Where others struggle with studio work becoming bland or repetitious, Serrao brings a variety of fresh textures and emotions.  Never before have I been so attracted to a woman's gap-teeth or the idea of swimming in milk.

Letter from the Mannequin
To readers of flesh and plastic alike,
As an Art Buyer of the male mannequin gender, I have decided to start a blog.  It is my hope that one day I will be celebrated in the photographic community for my Y chromosome and plastic exterior.
Much thanks for inspiration goes out to the lovely ladies at Art Buyers Are People Too.  May we have many blog posts to look forward to.
With cold skin but a warm heart,
Manny the Mannequin
