Stardust Final
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I kind of had a mix of elemental things and then how I remembered something about how we are made of star matter so I took that to fuse elemental aspects with space vibes and then added a star person in the middle because we are star people but I also just think it was flowing and I really liked it. I will call it Stardust.

Jackson Pollock’s Artistic evolution was a wild journey, and took major twists, he went from studying under Thomas Benton to creating his own style or iconic touch with his drip paintings, and these show a big change in his approach to how he viewed and did art. When he was learning from Benton he focused more on form and structure. Pollock wanted something that resonated with him more on a deeper level. He was inspired by the art styles called surrealism and abstract expressionism, that led him to try new things. The drip method is where he dripped and splattered paint on canvases that were laid down on the ground. This alowed him to express his emotions straight onto the canvas. This created chaotic but pretty and beautiful patterns and this has influenced a lot of art in the modern world. I really enjoyed working on this piece of art I just kind of let it flow.

This artwork is made of oil and it is applied to canvas It is pretty big I do not know the exact dimensions but this is no small painting and the border around it amplifies the feeling of it being big. It is big, it is shaped rectangular and it is longer going vertically, it uses deep dark colors, I actually picked it as my 2nd option because my first option was a Shiva statue but that would have been harder to do research on, and this caught my eye as a backup because I loved the deep blue and black that was used in the painting. It is a photo of a woman at first I just thought it was a random woman because usually I do not know who it is but it turns out that it is the Virgin Mary but depicted differently The primary colors are the deep blue of the Virgin Mary cloak and a dark background, the shapes are soft and rounded, focusing on Mary's sadness but it is a nice and elegant sad face not weeping but sorrow. The subject is the Virgin Mary but depicted and shown in sorrowful and in a darker color scheme. The design is simple almost like a portrait, Mary's face is centered and light and shadows are used to emphasize her expression The emphasis is on Mary's face, highlighted by the bright blue cloak against the dark background. Following her cloak and facial characteristics, the beat is soft and flowing. The realistic and balanced painting is a trademark of the Baroque period. Her face is highlighted by the contrast between the background and the cloak. The painting shows unity by having the dark colors blend in with each other and the cloak and the face details add variation Study and Background in Culture
Artist: The Italian Baroque painter Onorio Marinari was a part of the movement. He learned from Carlo Dolci, who was famous for drawing religious scenes, and was his cousin. Dramatic expression and strong contrasts of light and dark were important during the Baroque time.
Background and Time: In the 1600s, especially after the Counter-Reformation, the Catholic Church used art to make people feel things and improve their faith. Paintings like "Mater Dolorosa" were meant to be used for private devotion and to show how faith can be personal and emotional.
Marineri wanted to show how sad and real the Virgin Mary was, making her a figure that people could relate to. This message comes across clearly through his use of color and skill.
Effectiveness of Communication: Marinari does a great job of capturing Mary's sadness and the theme's pensive mood. The message is clear and powerful because of his professional skill and emotional depth.
I picked it honestly as a backup option for my first choice which was a metal shiva statue but I thought doing research on it would prove to be difficult so I took a photo of this one on the way out because to me it had the color scheme of Batman which is blue and black and It really stood out to me because of how simple it was but the mixed feeling of dark and light really did it for me. Proof I was at the Ringling Museum

Here is also the Shiva Statue that I was thinking of using but ultimately I thought the painting of the Virgin Mary would have been more fitting for this assignment. I really enjoyed this assignment where I had to go out and look at real art it was a blast!

Journaling
Principles of Design: Visual Outline
1. Unity and Variety
Definition: Unity is the feeling of when you see a piece of art that there is a sense of completion and an instinct that tells you that that art work is complete and that all the aspects of the art work well together to give you the experience of the art work. Variety is having more than one aspect of art into an art piece. Having different layers and things that catch your aye in a piece of art.
Everyday Example: Comic books that I have displayed in my room (unity) but a variety of flowers (variety).
Tumblr media
2. Balance
Definition: Balance is artwork having the aspects of it work with each other to not having things over power other aspects. And if it is asymmetrical then it does it in a way where it highlights the art by using different elements.
Everyday Example: My living room is a well-arranged living room where furniture is symmetrically placed around a focal point which is the TV.
Tumblr media
3. Emphasis and Subordination
Definition: Emphasis is creating a focal point to draw attention to an area or a point on the piece of art
Everyday Example: Taking a photo and it has a focus on you and the background is blurred
Tumblr media
4. Directional Forces
Definition: Directional forces guide your eyes through the art, usually created through lines, shapes, or colors. Everyday Example: Guidelines on the road that direct you, or lines on a piece of art and they don’t have to be straight
Tumblr media
5. Repetition and Rhythm
Definition: Repetition involves using the same element multiple times, while rhythm creates a sense of movement through the repetition of elements.
Everyday Example: The pattern of tiles on a floor.
Tumblr media
6. Scale and Proportion
Definition: Scale is the size of an object in relation to other objects, while proportion refers to the relationship between parts of the entire thing.
Everyday Example: A skyscraper next to a small building (scale) or the proportions of the human body. (Proportion)

Recipe for Composition:
Implied Lines:
Description: The movement of the figures and the angles of their bodies create implied lines that guide the viewer's eye across the canvas.
Example: The direction in which the figures are looking and moving, as well as the angles of the train seats and windows.
Color Scheme:
Description: Lawrence uses a vibrant color palette with a mix of warm and cool colors to create a dynamic and engaging composition.
Example: The bright reds, yellows, and blues in the clothing and seats contrast with the cooler tones of the background.
Geometric Shapes:
Description: The composition is structured with strong geometric shapes, creating a sense of order and balance.
Example: Rectangular forms of the train seats, windows, and luggage create a structured environment.
Balance:
Description: Lawrence achieves balance through the placement of figures and objects, creating an equilibrium between the different elements.
Example: Figures and objects are evenly distributed across the canvas, with each side of the painting having a similar visual weight.
Rhythm and Movement:
Description: The repetition of shapes and colors creates a rhythmic flow, guiding the viewer’s eye throughout the painting.
Example: The repeated patterns of the seats and the alternating colors of the passengers' clothing contribute to a sense of rhythm.
Focal Points:
Description: Lawrence uses focal points to draw the viewer’s attention to specific areas of the painting.
Example: The central figure reading a newspaper and the brightly colored luggage overhead serve as focal points within the composition.
Perspective:
Description: The use of perspective gives depth to the painting, making the train car appear as a three-dimensional space.

This is meaningful in my life because I feel that I learn from my mistakes and believe that you can not get better at something without failing first and I choose this example because it represented how I was when I took Calculus I failed my first test then I put in the work and then I ended up passing with a B when at the beginning I did not even think I could pass the course. (This was a very fun assignment)

Thinking about Logos and how they are designed, They are designed to be a representation of their brand. They should even find a way to resemble the product or service that is provided by the company. They should be designed with colors that catch the eye so that attention is drawn to their brand. That is because Logos are a form of marketing. People tend to remember a Logo in association with the brand or company so picking one that accurately corresponds to the brand is crucial and one of the main purposes of a logo. Such as how Nike is a swoosh and is intended to represent the motion of speed and motion. I know these logos because of the association of the logos and what they represent. Also after seeing them time and time again, they are what you think of when the brand comes into your mind. I understand the value of logos by just knowing that I associate brands with their logo. When I think of a logo like Apple I instantly think of their logo, the apple with the bite in it. Logos are crucial and they have immense value and should be carefully picked because that is the face of your brand.

1. My name is Reynaldo Pinon and this is the last class that I have to take to receive my associate degree. After I leave SCF I will be transferring to The University of Central Florida. I am hoping to achieve my business degree in Real Estate. A little-known fact about me is that I am Ambidextrous. 2. 5 New facts I learned about the assigned artist and artwork.
Creation and Medium: Pollock painted with enamel on a 105 by 207-inch canvas in 1950.
Technique: Pollock worked from all sides of the canvas that was placed on the ground, demonstrating "action painting," a technique in which the process of painting is part of the art.
Abstract Expressionism: Stressing unplanned and unconscious creativity, this piece is a perfect illustration of the style.
Impact and Reception: Currently kept at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the picture has influenced modern art and is praised for its avant-garde style. 3. The way I look at this piece of art definitely changed afterward. At first, I did not know what to make of this piece of art. At first, I just saw random streaks of paint on a canvas and I did not want to say that because I knew that it could not have been that simple. The painting is big the image makes me believe that it is relatively smaller then what I expected but It is 105” by 207”. That is a size that definitely demands attention. I also did not know that it used a technique where the piece was placed on the ground. ART and Writing

This is a piece of art that my sister purchased for me as a gift and It means a lot to me. This a song cover for a song by Kanye West now known as "Ye" and this song comes off arguably his greatest album and maybe the greatest rap album of all time. I believe that this is not a painting made from paint but printed onto the canvas but I do not believe that it takes away from its beauty and significance in pop culture. I think it is beautiful because this comes from the album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and that name alone speaks volume about this album. Music is art and I believe that this painting symbolically fuses two different medias of art into one because when people see this they know to think of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. SELF-PORTRAIT I am 19 years old, I am a male, I am from Bradenton, Florida, I am Hispanic, and I play basketball and video games in my spare time. I am not part of an organized group. I don't work anywhere currently. That is the baggage that I bring when I look at a piece of art. There is a lot of things that make me uniquely me but it is really just a lot of little things that make someone different and the experiences in life that give someone a unique taste or what they came up with in life. Art Project
Tumblr media
I am fascinated by random things in my life I am spontaneous, this is what I came up with I am currently traveling so I had to use an online drawling tool. This gives off random to me and abstract so that will give someone an elevated view of me.

Black and White vs. Color Photography.

In this, it shows one image in black and white, and the other in color. In the photo on the left, it looks nice and peaceful. The other one looks more creepy and ominous.

The Throne of the Third Heaven of the Nations’ Millennium General Assembly
1. Hello, my name is Reynaldo and I am 19 years old and studying at the State College of Florida. I am currently just taking summer courses to further my progress for my associate in arts degree. I am looking forward to going transferring to the University of South Florida to eventually hopefully achieve my bachelor's degree in computer science.

1. Hampton created his masterpiece in a rented carriage house, transforming its drab interior into a resplendent world.
2. He hand-crafted many of the elements from cardboard and plastic, but added structure with found objects from his neighborhood, such as old furniture and jelly jars, and discards like light bulbs from the federal office buildings in which he worked.
3. The Throne of the Third Heaven of the Nations’ Millennium General Assembly is a complex work of art created by James Hampton over a period of fourteen years.
4. The Throne embodies a complex fusion of Christianity and African-American spiritual practices
5. The art is praised as America’s greatest work of visionary art
When I first saw this piece of art I thought of the "Terracotta Army" is a collection of terracotta sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China. There isn't a particular reason but it is probably because they look older I was surprised to find out that the pieces of art aren't from any older civilization but from the United States and from the 20th century. Once you look at the painting more you can see that the figures or throne aren't made of precious metals but from things, you can find in your local grocery store. There are 180 pieces of works in the collection and it really is a mystery, he seems to have believed that he was completing a divine prophecy. I also find it crazy that he had a language named after him and a notebook with writings that he made. He seemed to believe that he was the "Moses" of his era.
There isn't many painting in my house but one that comes to mind is a painting that is there about wine in my house. I really don't have a great story about it. I just found it and am using it for this assignment because I don't have much else but it is a nice little photo of some wine. The media is most likely paint and them a sealing over it like epoxy. I don't think it serves much of a purpose but maybe someone who likes wine would enjoy the piece of art. I think it can be beautiful but just not beautiful to me, It gives old vibes and in the art piece, it has writing in French so that is also something.

Self Portrait - I went onto a drawing website online and just started drawing using lines and shapes and this is what I came up with.
