really grinds my gears when i see posts like “wow female athletes sure are STRONGER than male athletes” “i’ve seen men cry over a scraped knee and women play with a sprained ankle” “female athletes are so POWERFUL men are crybabies”

like oh my GOD do y’all not hear yourselves. NOT ONLY are you reinforcing the same harmful ideas that men can’t express their pain, can’t cry when they’re hurt, can’t tap out when they’re unable to continue playing

BUT ALSO why do you think women in sports HAVE TO BE THAT WAY!!! they HAVE to play through the pain they HAVE to be ten times as strong to be respected half as much as male athletes BECAUSE OF WHAT ????? that’s right folks it’s MISOGYNY

so let’s quit applauding people for pushing way past their limits in order to survive in their world and let’s also quit shaming people for accepting their limits and expressing pain and emotions!!!!!!!!! also PAY FEMALE ATHLETES EQUALLY THANKS

listen.  are half of these just random people in a pool and not actual synchro?  yes.  but we literally have a tiktok compilation now i think this means we’ve officially made it :’)

i’m sitting here in some sort of post-olympic qualifiers stupor thinking about how i did synchro for nine years but never really considered myself a part of the sport until the last few…how i never cared about keeping up with the sport until i was almost done with it and how coaching has made me realize how much of my heart has been shaped by it all…not to go full john green liverpool thoughts from places video on you but i think the way the world still gathers to watch people do sports is kind of beautiful…maybe things don’t have to mean anything to be worthwhile
