The worst part about Liam Payne dying is that people are posting about “the switch up is crazy”
Like no. He was an abuser and made horrible decisions, but nobody wanted him to die. He was getting hate for an INCREDIBLY valid reason, but we all recognized that he needed mental and physical help. He needed to go to rehab. He needed to get away from drugs and alcohol and improve upon himself away from the public. No one wanted him to die.
We’re not mourning the life of an abuser, we are mourning the part of him that we adored and looked up to for a massive part of our childhood/ teenage years. He was a huge part of how I was introduced to my love of music. And yes, he did horrible things and made horrible decisions and over the last few years has been anything but admirable, but none of us wanted this.
Maya didn’t want this. And everyone saying that it’s her fault can actually go burn in hell. She likely already blames herself enough. She likely already wishes she hadn’t spoken up about it out of the guilt that she likely feels. You guys commenting all over the socials about how this is her fault and “are you happy now?” Are actually horrible people.
A 7 year old boy just lost his father. A woman just lost her long term boyfriend. Two parents just lost their son. Several young children just lost their uncle. Show some fucking respect. Joking about it and hating on people who had nothing to do with what happened is not doing anything but twist the knife for the people who this has ACTUALLY effected.

feeling grief over someone who shaped part of your childhood / teenage years ≠ excusing his actions.
you can grieve someone and still not like them or agree with their actions. a reminder that two things can be true at once.

Going back and watching the Salem scene from WandaVision, I was struck by a line I hadn't really noticed before; she does say "I cannot control it", and she says it right before her coven blasts her. Every time they were about to blast her, she'd flinch and beg them to stop, and the way she plead with her mother... y'all, she wasn't begging for her life, she was begging for theirs 🥺💔😭

OK, so while I would’ve loved to see Tiana in Descendants: The Rise of Red, she’s a one of my favorite Disney princesses, I kind of see how it makes more sense not to have her at Merlin Academy. Because like with the other characters, it makes sense because either they’re attending Merlin Academy before the events of their movies (Maleficent, Hades, Hook, Bridget “Queen of Hearts”), or they’re attending Merlin Academy during the events of their movie (Ella), or they’re attending Merlin Academy after the events of their movie (Aladdin and Jasmine). But with Tiana, we see in the Princess and the Frog movie that she’s in her like early 20s and it’s kind of implied that she doesn’t really believe in magic if I’m correct. She kind of dismisses the whole wishing star thing at first so I kind of find it weird that she wouldn’t believe in magic if she went to a school filled to the brim with magical people, and we can’t say that she goes to Merlin Academy after the events the movie because again she’s in her 20s.
Idk. I know with this movie they pretty much threw a wench in the idea that is is set within the world of the animated movies but I can still see where those movies come into play with these characters and I feel like Tiana’s character doesn’t really fit here. Though let’s not let that keep up is from having her appear in future Descendants movies!!!🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Hey, I know you’ve read the book and I wanted to ask if anywhere in it it’s said if Cheshire is Chester’s ancestor?
I know it doesn’t say anywhere that Cheshire is explicitly his dad but it does feel like it’s massively hinted with the fact that he can disappear and reappear and we only know one person in Wonderland that can do that. But I got someone saying that the wiki says he’s his ancestor and I went to the wiki and they have no source for this claim
And just idk it doesn’t make sense to me cause I would imagine he would be around Queen’s age, just like an average age adult. And ancestor means that you are older than a grandpa and he CANNOT be older than Caterpillar so I wanted to ask you since you’ve actually read the full book
It doesn’t confirm that much of a family relation. It’s most just implied based off of things such as the way he grins, the way he seems to just just disappear and reappear, his name (Chester - Cheshire), and the fact that when he gets punished by the Queen at the end, he gets turned into a cat with a weird grin and disappears in thin air.

Alright, here are some of my thoughts on some of the complaints I’m hearing about the Rise of Red. I’m not going to get into the whole Cameron/Carlos debate. I already made a post about that. But some of the things I’m going to comment on are the “mistreatment of Chloe”, the non-resolution to the QOH abuse toward Red, and the failed “prank” plot hole.
First off, with the “mistreatment of Chloe.” Now, I’ve watched the movie three times already. Is it the best movie that's ever been made? No. Is it enjoyable? Yes. Is everyone entitled to their opinions? Also yes. But that doesn’t mean some of us can’t help but roll our eyes and rub our temples at the sheer annoyance that some people have when it comes to their opinions. I’ve seen folks on this app say that the characters were treating Chloe like garbage because she was “acting like a princess, wanted to follow the rules, blah blah blah.” Now, you can say that, but from what I picked up, that was more of them calling her out and helping her recognize some flaws that she wasn’t aware of. Chloe was unaware of certain things due to her upbringing as a royal. It's important to approach these character actions with an open mind, as it allows for a more nuanced understanding of the movie. She really believed that if you were a good person, if you followed the rules, that if you did everything the good, moral, and decent way, then bad things were never gonna happen to you, that you would always come out on top, that good things were gonna come your way. And while that may be true to some extent, it isn’t that cut and dry.
Chloe was described from the beginning as a perfectionist, and while being a perfectionist isn’t always a bad thing, it can become very annoying very quickly. Trust me, as someone who jumps back and forth from being a perfectionist, I know.
Her meeting her mom in the past, when she was at her lowest, helped her come to that conclusion. Here is someone, Ella, who was living with her cruel stepfamily, being made to live like a servant, but still managed to keep something of a positive and open-minded look at things in life. That is why the scene “Gets Your Hands Dirty” is one of my favorites from the film cause it offers up the murky sides of things that we are taught when it comes to things that most people deem “good” and “bad.” Not everything is as simple as it seems. Sometimes, you can play things by the book, but it don’t result in anything. There are some people who do bad things for the sake of cruelty, but there are people who do bad things for the sake of others. Like they mentioned: Robin Hood. You can’t say that breaking the rules and doing something bad is wrong, but look at someone like that and say, “Oh, but he was helping others.” See the contradiction there? Chloe unfortunately fell into that with her way of thinking.
Back on the goody-goody things, let's go to the scene in the Tremaine Home. When Chloe accidentally breaks the vase, she says three specific things:
“It was my fault.” Good, good. Owning up your role in the incident, not letting Ella get the full blame.
“ But I’m very sorry….” Again, good. Acknowledging you feel remorse for it happening.
“...and it won’t ever happen again.” Now see, that's where she lost me.
She says this as if it makes everything ok. Now granted, she’s saying this to a woman who most definitely doesn’t give a damn if she’s sorry. But in the overall point, saying you’re sorry only goes so far. Action needs to be behind those words. And I’m not talking about “It won’t ever happen again.” Cause it's nice that you’re sorry and you won’t let it happen again…but the vase is still broken. None of what you are saying is gonna fix or replace that. What Chloe should have said was: “It was my fault. But I’m very sorry, and it won’t happen again. I’ll gladly pay for it to be fixed or even to get you a new one.” That’s would’ve been better. Again, I know Tremaine wouldn’t have given a shit either way but it would have established Chloe as someone who wanted to make up for her mistakes. But instead it came off some goody princess who thinks that a simple apology will solve things and make them better.
And back to the whole rule following thing. I’m not saying it's wrong to want to follow the rules the entire time, but following the rules doesn’t always result in you succeeding or even accomplishing your goal. Take Robin Hood again. Also, there are plenty of examples of heroic tales whether ones from long ago to books/tv shows/movies that portray the protagonist constantly breaking the rules and completing what they set out to do. So I don’t know what Chloe is thinking following the rules is going to get her in the situation that she is in now. Just saying. Hell, I’m pretty sure time traveling is breaking some kind of law of nature or other.
Now onto the “no-resolution for the QOH’s actions toward Red.'' This is gonna be pretty cut and dry. Y'all do realize that by changing the events of the past prevents the Queen from becoming the evil abusive asshole of a mother she is now right? So by that logic, none of the stuff she ever did to Red no longer happens. Red might still remember them (I don’t know if she would have any new memories of the current altered timeline) but she can’t exactly hold anything against this version of her mother. Hell, I'm pretty sure every bad thing the Queen did has been erased, every one she has ever hurt is probably fine now. So with that being brought up, I have to ask: Why would she have to apologize or be punished for anything that no longer exists? If nothing changed, then yeah by all means there would need to be some kind of resolution, but this is kind of it. That Queen of Hearts is gone, replaced by a much better and kinder version and Red gets what she’s always wanted and deserved: A mother who is kind and loves her. So if y’all are pissed at that and that the queen didn’t suffer any actual punishment then y'all can just go somewhere cause there’s really no point in arguing. Cause it’s coming off as y'all don’t want Red to be happy.
Now onto the “prank.” I will admit that the prank was kind of a weak excuse for a reason for Bridget to become as heartless as she was and the way they stopped the prank from happening was kind of trash, but I lowkey get how the prank would have had an everlasting effect on Bridget. Walk with me here for a second:
Bridget is a person who wants to be friends with everyone and lives her life by the idea that if you’re kind to everyone then it will all pay off in a good way. “You get more with sugar than salt.” That's one of the big reasons why Uliana hates her so much according to Ella. Because no matter how nasty Uliana is to Bridget, she (Bridget) continues to be nice to her because she wants to be friends with her even though Uli is a terrible person. Now Bridget is, I’m assuming, a person who is easily bullied as that's the only explanation I can fathom as to why someone as sweet as that who literally gives treats to everyone (FOR FREE) has no other friends than one person. Now let me tell you something, being bullied isn’t something that can easily be brushed off. Even those who act like it doesn't phase them can be holding back inside, burying how they really feel deep, deep, deep down. There’s no telling what Bridget was feeling on the inside for real. But maybe having Ella helped keep the pain at bay. So imagine you’re at your first dance ever with your best friend who goes off with someone else. You’re happy for her, no question, but her not being there later on comes back to bite the both of you. Especially if you’re turned into a monster in front of everyone by the person who you tried on multiple occasions to be nice to, give the benefit of the doubt, and tried to be friends with after you’re led to believe that it was paying off with the offer of a sweet treat. And while everyone is pointing and laughing, you can’t find your friend. Because she’s off with someone else and has seemingly left you behind after asking you to come with her to this event. I can see how all the pain and anger that you’ve been holding down, trying your hardest to suppress can come to the surface and all that niceness and goodness could go out the window because why bother being that person when it’s become clear that no matter what you do none of these people will ever like you or love you and that you really have no one to trust but yourself?
With that being said, I can see how a “stupid” prank like that could be the “perfect revenge” as turning Bridget into a monster on the outside resulted in her becoming a monster on the inside and it ruined the person she was before.
So do I think that that prank was the number one main reason as to why she became a villain today? No. Do I think it was the main catalyst that opened the door for more things to affect her going forward that resulted in her becoming a villain? Absolutely. I 100% believe that that prank was the reason the darkness was able to open up in her. Hell, like I said earlier, I wouldn’t be surprised if the monster-turning-prank had an after effect that left some of the monster inside her.🤷🏻
I haven’t thought much on the fact that if they VK’s get frozen because of the protection spell on the book they wouldn’t be able to pull off the prank plot hole. I can only assume that in the original timeline, they found some kind of way around it, one that possibly maybe involved Ella, but due to the fact that the book is no longer in that timeline, they never get the spell so everything is changed. I’m not sure.
Again, these are just my thoughts. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I just couldn’t sit back and hold my tongue for any longer. I’m gonna come out with something later on how I see the characters from the animated films going to school together low-key makes a little bit of sense.

OK. I’m going to give my two cents on the whole Carlos/Cameron Boyce tribute in the rise of red film. Now this might ruffle some of y’all feathers but at this point I really don’t give a damn, some of y’all are low-key getting on my last nerves and have been ever since they announced that they were doing another descendants film and y’all wanted to bitch and complain about how this was not honoring his memory or legacy or whatever else bullshit y’all wanted to spew. I think how they went about doing it was very respectful and in a good way. I’ve seen people on Tumblr (particularly this one person🙄) say that they hated it and they didn’t like how they did it and they wish they would’ve just said that the character was off somewhere else. Listen, there is no right way to do these kinds of things when an actor or actress passes away and whatever projects they were a part of continue on. There is no EASY way to handle those situations. Because no matter what they do, someone’s gonna find some kind of problem with it. Whether they kill the character off or they recast the character or they say the characters off somewhere else but at the same time that doesn’t mean they need to stop doing those projects or anything involving those projects. Take Glee for instance (Cory), Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (Chadwick). As long as they try to be respectful and try to find a way to honor that actor or actress I don’t see a problem. And to be quite frank with some of you, the only people whose opinion on this that actually matters is Cameron’s family who pretty much gave their approval for this. So as long as they’re OK with it, that’s it. So whatever else shit y’all keep saying that should be stopped and that’s the end of the discussion. And if you still have problems with it, (and feel free to take the offense) you can take your opinion and go straight to hell

At this point I just roll my eyes at these folks and keep it pushing. They just don’t want to enjoy it and only get involved because they have some sort of anger kink so forget them.
Minor D4 rant incoming but I sorry I gotta say it somewhere - why is Uma in this movie? Stuck into a position that makes no sense for her? They seriously expect me to believe she wouldn't be out on the sea 24/7 with her boys experiencing the freedom she rightfully deserved but instead, she's happy to sit behind a desk and look after Auradon's brats all the time? And then just sit there and do nothing while they're all in danger (cause I guess the cool sea magic CGI budget all had to go to Uliyana, who's a complete other can of worms)
How does this make any sense for her character? Yeah sure I get that she's always cared about Isle kids but that doesn't really follow through when neither of our two protags this time are Isle kids? Nor any of the past kids?
Uma honey I'm sorry, you deserve so much better than this movie.
Honestly anon, you hit the nail on the head. Uma should be somewhere with Harry, Gil, and the rest of her crew living out Pirates of the Caribbean, not... whatever this movie thinks it's doing with her.
I love Uma so much but she makes no sense in this role in this movie and it's painful to watch because they have to de-power her so much in order for the protagonists to be necessary in the slightest.
This movie genuinely is the worst thing I've seen them do with her character.
Also somehow it took me until this moment to realize that... no, none of our protagonists are Isle kids at all? Red and Chloe are both princesses, presumably Bridget is a princess too, Ella comes from a wealthy family (unless they're changing that part of her story too), and unless we're retconning how long the Isle existed for, none of the past kids have anything to do with it. So congrats Isle? You officially stopped being important, I guess?

I’d understand the rage and rants if “what doesn’t make sense” is never explained in new movies and its materials. But we haven’t even watched it yet and the way y’all already started picking it apart all for feeding into your rage. No I can’t do this anymore. With all respect and love, I think I should change my way of engaging this fandom.

Ok so I don’t know where we are getting the idea that Red has magic but can we cool it just a it? Again we are jumping to the biggest conclusions based off of the most smallest things. This clip of here with the paintbrush?
Tumblr media
I’m most positive this was t her performing magic I think it was just editing done for the clip, nothing to be taken seriously. Like the picture behind her of the QoH literally changed from smiling to frowning so unless y’all think she did that as well.
Then this part from the “Red” music video.
Tumblr media
Y’all... I know we didn’t see a lighter or a match, but I’m pretty sure that’s just a mistake on the filmmakers part. I don’t think she lit the firework with magic. And the fireworks that she was setting off as she was running, I don’t think that was magic either. I think that was her just throwing them behind her.
Again we will see on July 12 but for right now I feel like y’all are making her out to be someone with magic just because in Beyond The Isle of the Lost we learned that her mother has magic. If that was the case with Red having magic I think they would’ve made some kind of mention or reference to that in the book
And I know the books don’t exactly follow the movies but I still feel like that would be something that we would at least have some kind of acknowledge over instead of being blindsided come the film.
I’ve seen many posts on here going off of the idea that she has magic and I’m just like y’all have no proof of this. Why are y’all acting like you automatically know that she has magic and talking about “oh they can’t do a single villain without magic” “why she got to have magic” “Apparently they can’t be a scary villain unless they have magic” (regarding the QoH but again, the film could explain that). But still you have no proof. Again, I could be wrong but for right now, let’s wait and see. Jesus

POSSIBLE - Spoiler warning for Descendants: The Rise of Red
.
.
.
.
.
Ok I’m starting to get pissed off.
I I don’t wanna start nothing, everyone’s entitled to their own opinion. Because some of you on this god forsaken app are really showing why some people probably need to go to college, or at least need to pay attention in high school, because some of y’all are lacking in critical thinking.
And unfortunately, I’m talking about some of you in the descendants fandom. It’s like…how about you not watch it if you’re not gonna enjoy it? Because right now all you’re doing is ruining the excitement and fun for those of us who are looking forward to the film. Like I get it you don’t understand what’s going on, there’s possible retcon, you think it’s destroying whatever film came before, blah blah, blah blah blah. Simple answer: Don’t watch it then. Jesus fucking Christ. 🙄🙄
Like before we start jumping down the rabbit hole, pun intended, of conspiracy theories on what is going to happen in this movie, particularly on what we think is the reason why Bridget becomes evil, let’s wait and see. And let’s not trust things we find on Reddit or wherever the hell it is that y’all found that post saying that the reason why Bridget becomes evil is because Fairy Godmother cast a spell that makes charming fall in love with Cinderella, not Bridget.
Like be so fucking for real. While this might be true, I feel like it might not be. Because so far everyone, including the actors from the original Brandy Cinderella film seem to have a lot of faith in this film and have trust that the writers know what they’re doing. I feel like they wouldn’t have come back for this let alone be excited to do it if they felt like it was gonna be done dirty.
So how about we all calm down and think with our brains for a second? But then again most of you who are hating on this film have been hating on this series since like what, Descendants 2? I really don’t take ya’lls opinion for anything other than jack shit at this point so I’m not even gonna humor you.
Is this rude? Most likely. Do I care that this point? No. Also even if you just watch it to bash it you’re still watching it. Way to really stick to Disney!

On Tommy Kinard
"It's not that I don't like Buck and Tommy, it's just happening so fast, he's underdeveloped!"
*clears throat*
Here is a recap of what we know about Tommy. And this is just off the top of my head, I didn't rewatch anything.
He was closeted at the 118 before and found the atmosphere repressive. He (probably) acted like a dick to fit in. When presented with the chance to make things better, he took it, and developed positive relationships with Hen, Chim and Bobby.
He was in the army and trained there as a pilot.
He knows Muay Thai and has a set up in his house.
He likes to work on cars and has a lift at his house (where TF does he live is my question - he has some nerve being agog at Buck's loft if he has a muay thai gym and a car lift)
He is down for violating departmental policy at the drop of a hat (has done so on at least two occasions) to help a friend and has no problems fucking with the fire chief.
He is a nerd. He likes pub trivia and has incorrect Star Wars opinions, and can keep up with Chim in the movie-quoting department.
His favorite movie is "Love, Actually" and he likes craft beer and monster trucks.
He came out when he transferred to Harbor and felt comfortable enough to stop lying about who he was.
He follows MMA and has friends in Vegas who like him well enough to hook him up to a frankly insane degree.
He'll risk his own life and engage in helicopter skulduggery to save people he doesn't know...I mean, apart from doing that for a living.
He'll take time out of his day to give a tour to the cute boy who called him up and offer to give that boy flying lessons (a significant time investment) which was probably maybe about more one on one time with said boy.
He yearns for the belonging and found family that the 118 became after his departure and probably befriended Eddie hoping to earn a plate at the cookout, aside from just clicking with him.
He likes Eddie and Chris a lot and they like him. Chimney also likes him.
He was attracted to Buck right away and was emotionally aware enough to pick up on Buck's jealous feelings over Eddie and his friendship, even if he was surprised that it was him Buck wanted to get to know.
He respects and values Buck and Eddie's friendship and wanted to make sure Buck knew that.
He's brave enough to shoot his shot by planting one on a dude.
He's a lil bitchy but also generous and ready to throw in with this insane guy who's inviting him to a family wedding after 0.5 dates.
He showed up to a bachelor party when he was on call because Buck asked him to, then showed up in turnouts after fighting a fire for like 12 hours yadda yadda we all know this part.
He has got it BAD for one Evan Buckley, who he only calls "Evan" which according to LFJR is a conscious decision by the writers, which fascinates me.
He was willing to take a chance with a man just discovering his sexuality BUT wasn't willing to put himself through that if the man in question wasn't ready for it. When Buck showed him that he was, he was all in.
He does NOT take his coffee like that.
Oh and
He's a beast.
This is VASTLY more information than we knew about ANY of Buck's previous girlfriends with the possible exception of Abby. Even Taylor did not get this much development over 20 episodes (things we knew about her: she was an ambitious and ethically flexible reporter, did not eat fudge, had a dad in jail, and sometimes jogged for exercise, she was capable of being nice and did love Buck, I believe). And as for it being fast? Sometimes it just be like that? A relationship doesn't have to have year(s) of buildup. Sometimes people do just meet, like each other, and start dating, in fact in the real world that's usually what happens. It's in TV Land that you have to have eighteen seasons of UST before pulling the trigger. Most of the time in reality people just vibe off each other and decide to go out and THEN they learn about each other.
And they've got a great start. You'd think they'd barely spoken by how a few naysayers are talking about it - the loft scene was like a solid five minutes of very open conversation, the Cringe Date seemed to have gone well and again, open and honest (if cringey) conversation before Cockblocker Eddie showed up, and the coffee meetup was again....open and honest conversation. They're not gonna show us long scenes of them exchanging firefighting stories and workout preferences (I mean, I'd watch that, but it's not what the show is about).
In conclusion, anyone saying he's poorly developed or the relationship is "out of nowhere" either is being willfully obtuse or has ridiculously unrealistic expectations for relationships and/or what constitutes character development.
As for whether they have chemistry, that's a matter of subjective opinion. Given that a TON of people watched that harbor tour scene (even when it was posted as a sneak peek) and started going "wait...what's going on here...are they flirting??" might be a clue. People were talking about Bi!Buck maybe happening with Tommy based solely off that clip of the harbor tour and what they were seeing between them. And imho that loft scene was crackling. But we all see things through the lenses of our biases, myself included.
Got that off my chest, whew.

I don't really understand some people's strong insistence that Buck needs to openly date/play the field now that he's bisexual. Or that it is unlikely/impossible that he could happily settle down with Tommy because he's his first male partner. One, it feels like it's propagating negative stereotypes. And two, it feels like a crucial misunderstanding of Buck's character.
Now, if it was Buck 1.0 who discovered this new facet of his sexuality, sure, he'd probably be hooking up with men and women in equal measure. And hats off to him. The guy's a T-bone steak. But since Abby, he's been in search of a serious, committed relationship. He wants to share a deep and profound connection with someone. More so, he wants to love and be loved in return. So, to me, it isn't surprising at all that even with men added into the equation, he has still zeroed in his attention on a single person (Tommy).
That segues into the other popular talking point that Tommy's only purpose is to serve as a plot device to open Buck's eyes to his bisexuality. If that were the case, then his role in the story would have been accomplished in 7x05. They could have kissed, and gone on their date, have it be crashed by Eddie, Buck putting his foot in his mouth with the 'hot chicks' comment, Tommy stepping back by telling Buck that he isn't ready, and then he could have peaced out of the narrative. ✌️Role fulfilled. Buck could still come out to Maddie and Eddie, accept his new sense of self, and decide that he indeed doesn't desire anything serious at the moment and wants the freedom to explore. His failed date with Tommy could have served as a learning experience and he then could wait for a new guy to catch his interest.
But he doesn't do that. He doubles down on Tommy. He calls him to apologize. He invites him to coffee. He tells him that while this is all new to him, Tommy is the one he wants to explore this with. He invites him to his sister's wedding. He's all in on Tommy. Because he has strong feelings for Tommy. Inviting Tommy to the wedding wasn't just about Buck coming out to his loved ones, it was about introducing them to Tommy as his partner.
Buck is committed to his relationship with Tommy. A relationship that (most likely) is going to continue to grow in the next two episodes and then into the next season. 🤞
