Nestled in the Margam Forest of South Wales, Hafod Grange has developed a process for embedding flowers and seedheads in polyester resin: a material that has the look of molten glass with none of its specimen-destroying properties. This paperweight preserves the puffy head of a hand-picked goat’s beard plant (Tragopogon pratensis) in a crystal clear globe, allowing the gossamer ball of plumed seeds to be admired from all angles. The resin is infused with a UV filter to prevent fading.
