Yoshiki isn't a typical grumpy, never-smiling, black-haired character who's hopelessly in love with his extroverted best friend.

No.

He's worse.

Because Yoshiki even smiles often, and his friends don't make a big deal out of it when he's happy around them.

But when Yoshiki doesn't smile... I swear, you'll never find a more depressing character than him. He makes every other grumpy character look like they never had a tragic backstory and they just enjoyed their lives.

so funny. that kim dokjas like 'oh look at my great and terrible want look at how miserably empty i am, i'm an unforgiveable gaping maw'. and the whole time it's exactly that obvious neediness he despises that incited han sooyoung to write the greatest epic of her life, which then goes on to create the entire universe. the type of reader that makes you want to write for him. the type of blank page that makes you need to cover it in words. the type of emptiness that you create galaxies to fill. he's embarrassed of his desires but it's those desires han sooyoung loved him for. if he'd needed her words - needed her and yoo joonghyuk - any less, they'd have never existed at all. 'i loved her to the point of invention'. there were these empty pages in him, and she filled them in, and she knew then that she loved him because filling in those pages was the most fun she'd ever had. that's the neediness kim dokja tries to hide. the kind that causes yoo sangah to reach out her hand and meet her closest friend. the kind that gives purpose to yoo joonghyuk's entire life. what would han sooyoung have done with a full page? there's no greater joy in the world than loving him precisely because it's such a task. but he will never understand this. hilarious, really.

She is so cool.

It's amazing to see a female character in a manga who is,

• not a sexualized teenage girl

• not conventionally attractive

• Middle Aged

But who also has her own story, her own personality and stays as a guiding protector to the kids. I am so so glad to see a character like her.

Kurabayashi Rie is one of the best characters in this manga.

theyre calling 'hikaru' an evil spirit meanwhile he's wrapping himself in a blanket skipping school and crying his eyes out because he's scared yoshiki doesn't love him. evil spirit WHERE. ignore the villagers he's been violently murdering

I honestly think that crying over a book is one of the most prominent sign of compassion for humanity. You’re crying over someone who isn’t really there, doesn’t really exist, but you still feel for them as if you have known them your entire life.

the vees and alastor serve as nearly perfect parallels to each other re: reputation vs reality. alastor is TERRIFYING. people literally set themselves on fire to avoid him and zestial walking together on the street. charlie is openly wary of him in the pilot, he overthrew the most powerful players sinners had ever known in an unprecedented rise to notoriety that literally made him a bogeyman in hell. and YET. he's only really scary to people who only know of him or by his reputation alone. the people who actually know him personally treat him with 0 fear or reverence: husk backtalks him constantly, niffty crawls all over him, rosie swings him around like a doll, charlie curses at him and vaggie feels comfortable ordering him around the hotel (which he always acquiesces to!!) once he loses that mystique of his reputation, he seems to lose a lot of the gravity of the fear he inspires.

on the other hand, the vees are publicly very friendly and approachable figures, nearly celebrities. people rush to vox, sinners clamor to buy voxtek products and they run all sorts of ridiculous advertisements that make them seem down-to-earth and accessible to average sinners. but in the vees' personal lives, the people who work underneath them and know what they're like behind their reputations are terrified of them. angel cowers from val, vox's assistant quails away from him, velvette's models flinch from her scorn—they're deeply unpleasant behind the curtain, but everybody who doesn't know them trusts and adores them. alastor is a batesian mimic. the vees are a shiny veneer over a pit of rot. they're excellent mirrors

But does anyone realize that we essentially got quite a good end? I was pretty sure Luka and Mizi would shoot themselves but they're alive and TILL IS ALIVE and Alnst is no more. Till saves their children( the combinations of their DNA enforcing heteronormativity was sad but the tragedy of it all is the point ig) and hopefully the rebels are ok.
