Selong Belanak surfing spot Lombok is a must visit destination. 

In addition to being a surf location, the beach is located on the southern coast of Lombok also has beautiful scenery. Its sloping white sandy beaches are still safe for children, especially if the tall waves is calm.

Spend the whole day, enjoy the view and felt the enthusiastic beginner balanced themselves on their surf-board. Sun-bathing or sunset hunting will never be boring anyone. The local warung served the local food and there is alsoa restaurant that provides a variety of international menus. All day enjoying the atmosphere of Selong Belanak will still be enjoyable.

Located only 1 hour ride from Mataram city or an extra half an hour from your favorite hotel around Senggigi beach, Selong Belanak is also near enough from Kuta beach, Central Lombok. It takes you only half an hour ride from Kuta and an addition of 15 minutes if you want to get to Selong Belanak, directly after your flight landed at Lombok International Airport (LIA).

Gili Trawangan Enchanting Sunset

Turquoise crystal blue water, colorful coral, white sandy beaches and various culinary from all over the world. These attract most visitor to come, come and come again to Gili Trawangan Lombok.

There is no sound of motor vehicles, giving you the chance the enjoy the impressive natural scenery of these three gili’s. On the bright morning or afternoon, the natural splendor coming along as your best sunrise or sunset. Though the spot were far away enough, sunrise on the east side and sunset on the west side of Gili Trawangan, the time you spent to reach these spot were all worth.

Nonetheless the underwater world beauties is also the must seeing spot. A must doing, after all. One reason that made me always miss another visit, as soon as I get home from my latest snorkeling moment.

All fun and haven experience you may have by your own, at Gili Trawangan, Gili Air and, or, Gili Meno. Three beautiful gili’s of Lombok, Indonesia.

Where To Visit Lombok Sacred Tombs

Being the main and largest tribe in Lombok, Sasak has a historical background that is closely related to Islam. One of its markers, various sacred tomb sites scattered in four districts. 

Another marker, a hereditary custom in the large Sasak tribe family, visits these tombs regularly every year. Especially during the celebration of the big days of Islam.

Most Lombok people visit these tombs as often as they visit other family tourist destinations such as beaches or waterfalls.

Me myself, have ever been Makam Selaparang at Suela village, East Lombok district, from my childhood (when I was around 6 yo) and many more re-visit at my school time and along with my children, these latest three years.

Nowadays, more and more sacred tombs can be visited and almost always crowded in every celebration of Islamic religious holidays. One of the most crowded, usually occurs in the celebration of Maulid or the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad. Another great celebration, coinciding with the seventh day after Eid al-Fitr, at the end of Ramadan. Makam Batu Layar Senggigi and Makam Loang Baloq Ampenan, were two main spots that you can meet the crowd of Lombok moslems at these two kind celebrations.

Must See Lombok Folktale

Born and spent my childhood at East Lombok, Cupak Gerantang was one of many Lombok folktale as my tales before bed. A folktale that I also re-tell to my children or most of my friend who ask’s about specific Lombok folktale.

Usually re-tell through Sasak puppet show, an event that I was not joint yet, since it always held all night long and mostly starts on mid-night. Nowadays, Cupak Gerantang were perform at some Tourist Village, such as Bayan at North Lombok district or the art studio and puppet master H.L. Nasip at West Lombok district.

Make A Friendship By Traveling

Do travel to get to know your friends more better. Some good friends you can have by join one day trip to two beautiful waterfalls.  Lombok stunning panoramic view waterfalls. 

Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep at North Lombok district.

Located at Rinjani’s mountain foot area, these two waterfalls covered by dense tropical forest. Any visit will about the mix of morning sounds and scents, immerse experiences of natural wonders.

You may meet local children, play cheerfully at the irrigation channels, at some part of your journey to Tiu Kelep.

And note this, a sudden rainbow lines will come up anytime you shoot your best pics.

Have You Visit Sembalun Lombok?

Lombok, Indonesia, one small island of The Lesser Sunda islands, along with Bali, Sumbawa, Flores and some other.

Lies at three different district of four main districts at Lombok, mount Rinjani, 3,726 m. One of another 129 active volcanoes at Indonesia. Two main trekking entrance were at Sembalun, East Lombok and Senaru, North Lombok.

Most of the pics at my writing here were at Sembalun, East Lombok. Small village with the beauty of mountain view and colors of green paddy’s field, carrots, apple tree gardens, strawberries and some other plants.

My Favorit Staycation Hotel at Lombok

All I need from a hotel, mostly, the extra coffee maker, hot shower and comfort bed. Only big three of a must, especially when I’m in my solo travelling.

Things that will become different if my kiddos come along.

There must be a pool, 24 hours restaurant  services and a fast access to medical stuff.

Stuffs that will be take’s another step of changing too. At around next 5 years, would be my great trip if my kiddos could already joint my deep water experience. Two most simple were, snorkeling and diving.

Here Are Lombok Best Surfing Spots

Well known as best beaches spots, Lombok is also have several surfing beach spots. 

Though most of the spots were lies at the south Lombok coastal line, those who love to stay around Senggigi beach, West Lombok, still could have fun time. At the corner of Kila Hotel and Pool Villa Club Senggigi, you can do mini surfing or taking short course for beginner.

Selong Belanak beach is only take you 30 minutes from Kuta Lombok. White sandy beaches, provide hollow lefts and rights tides, no reefs and good beachside restaurant.

You can also noted some other spots, at the west side of Selong Belanak, there are Belongas Bay. Sequentially eastward, lies Are Guling, Mawi, fun surfing spots at Kuta and Tanjung Aan, and Grupuk spots.

Most of those spots were good to visit all year around.

How Well Do I Know Mandalika Princess Tale?

Any cultural event related to Mandalika Princess Tale were held routine and an annual event at Lombok Island, Indonesia.

I always found many reasons for not attending one. Too far, the crowds, heavy rain, stormy and windy weather, and many more.

This year, I was attending one part of many and various event in one full month of Mandalika Princess related event. Named Nyale Tunggak , the worm that were believed as the represent of Mandalika Princess were not even show of yet.

Now, do update your holiday schedule. Bau Nyale event is just started, mostly in the south coast line of Lombok. Some events already held at East Lombok or at Teluk Bumbang, Central Lombok area. At Seger Beach, Central Lombok, Bau Nyale will be starts on 20th February and the main ceremony will be at 6th of March 2018.

Best Sunrise and Sunset Spot at Lombok

Born, live and leave my childhood place at Selong, East Lombok, I have never felt enough of having beautiful Lombok sunrise’s and sunset’s.

7 KM of Sunday morning jogging will take me to Labuhan Haji beach. The sunrise showed up with Sumbawa hill’s faint blue as the background.

At Selong, I can see Rinjani’s beauty silhouette as the sunset background.

All beauties which make me hunger all the time for having another sunrise and sunset. As I enjoy as many paint all over the world, I also enjoy whatever background in each of the sunrise and sunset.

In Lombok, Indonesia, one of the best that I can assure you, located at Gili Trawangan. One of other two, Gili Meno and Gili Air, Trawangan spot give you a sunrise with the magnificent Rinjani’s silhouette as the background. Move to the west side of this beautiful small island at the northwest side of Lombok, it was now beautiful Mount Agung Bali as your sunset background.

Is that all beautiful?

Just come and stop by. Found out your most pleasure time, arrange your holiday at the best weather (June until September will be the best traveling time) and take your time, enjoy one of the best sunrise and sunset spot view at Lombok.

Lombok Best Snorkeling Spots

Most of first visit to Lombok will choose three beautiful gili’s as their snorkeling spot destination. An understandable choices. Trawangan, Air and Meno were all completed for various activities beside snorkeling, such are biking, canoing, diving, or other common beach activities.

I am choosing Nanggu. Gili Nanggu is located at southwest Lombok. One of the other six beautiful gili’s, Tangkong, Sudak, Kedis, Poh, Layar and Gede.

Nanggu’s snorkeling spot can be reach at about 1 and half hour from Mataram or Senggigi area. Another 15 minutes crossing on traditional boat from Batu Kijuk village at kecamatan Sekotong Tengah, West Lombok.

My feature image above, reminds me how I turn back at the spot about three times at my last snorkeling moment at the early of January few weeks ago. Then I found out, Nanggu’s view is also always give its beautiy side anytime I do a re-visit.

Food as My Refreshing Mood

Four main dishes, but made from about 5 kinds of vegetables, freshwater fish and lots of spices and one bowl of rice surely.

Main course menu which were commonly served as three times daily meal at Lombok.

Urap-Urap, pelecing grilled fish, Ikan Asam Manis , some local recipes. Me myself, tends to add an extra sambal (chilly sauce) at every food, especially when I need mood booster. 

Can’t find specific brand of dark chocolate as my most favorite mood booster and starts to ignore many list of chocolate ice cream. 

Then, wishing a dark chocolate sent to me from somebody outside Lombok? Should I made it as my monthly resolution? :p :D

Another Gili Nanggu Visit

My last time visit Nanggu at early of this January, I made 3 times return on a spot. The left side of the nearest beach I usually left my other stuff.

Nanggu was lied at the southwest of Lombok. One of many Lombok beatiful gili’s. Nanggu mostly visited altogether with Gili Kedis or the love gili, Gili Sudak -- you can see many of starfish here and sometimes combine with about to 7 other gili (Tangkong, Layar, Gede and Rengit).

The sun finally show up today. Not yet as bright as the spring sun, yet it start to show the real beauty of Lombok.

Buwun Sejati, New Tourism Village at West Lombok

Mountain scenery never ever failed in fascinating me. 

The color gradation, which starts from green and ended up at the faint blue, described most of my thinking space.

Border less , but then has limit, far beyond the horizon.

In Lombok , you will find many of this kind. One that made me still breathless, a spot around Kayangan Harbour at East Lombok. The scenery will be about the bluest sea, some small and big ships on its surface, at the magnificent Rinjani’s mountain slope as it huge background.

This weekend, I found my self at another breathless moment while entering a small road of Buwun Sejati village, West Lombok. Out of the natural traditional and beautiful scenery, this village was also reflect the harmony among Moslem and Hindu’s villagers. 

New tourist destinations spot which portray the multicultural do existed and appreciated at Lombok.

Arrange News Style of Writing and Interview

There is always one book at my backpack. An unfinished one. My precious helper in spending time.

Separately or sometimes inside the book, there were also blank paper and pen (pencils, ballpoint, etc). Two main stuff to write down any random words, that might be useful as my keyword, new fictions or just a random poem.

In Lombok, some activities that made you have to spend an uncounted time such are using public transport, at bank queue (or any other public government services) or when you crossing two different tourist destinations.

For me, waiting one my travelling guest or backpacker partner at airport.
